Ashley was an amazing OT with my little one. My baby met her goals because of Ashley's care and creative ways of making OT fun for her!

They've made such a positive impact on both of my sons and our whole family. Miss Katie (our OT and the clinic manager) is not only caring and patient but also extremely knowledgeable and professional. One of my sons has high sensitivity to smells and used to vomit a lot. After working with Miss Katie for just half a year, his vomiting has improved significantly--the frequency is much lower because he's learned strategies to avoid situations that trigger him. Katie always goes above and beyond to support each of my boys' unique needs, whether it's fine motor skills or sensory exploration. She communicates clearly, provides us with helpful home strategies, and even brings snacks sometimes to make the boys feel comfortable. My kids have grown so much under her care, and they absolutely adore her. Miss Tawny (clinic supervisor) is also the best. She keeps everything running smoothly--always on top of paperwork, scheduling, and last-minute changes. She goes out of her way to accommodate us, which is such a relief since I'm juggling OT and speech for two kids. She makes the logistics stress-free so I can focus on the boys' progress. Together, Miss Katie and Miss Tawny make the clinic feel like family. My boys are always excited to go, which makes therapy not only effective but also fun. We feel incredibly lucky to have them for our OT journey!

Her name was Adhi and she didn't know how to answer any of my questions. I spent a lot of time on the phone with her and she intentionally hung up on me since she was unsure as to how to respond to any of my concerns and I had asked to speak to her supervisor. I called back and she lied about having spoken to me (just a minute prior) and picked up the phone the same way she initially did saying "I'm calling from LAIPT how can I help you?" When I was the one calling her! I also contacted her on the day that I had parted with my child and needed some peace of mind knowing that she's doing ok and spent at least 5 minutes trying to explain the reason for my call only to find out that she worked in the "back office" and that there was no patient there by my child's first and last name!!! As a parent, I needed someone who was actually AT the facility and couldn't wait another GD knows how long for a coordinator to finish a session and call or text me back. It was an urgent matter and wasn't handled properly or professionally. I was more stressed, anxious and frustrated upon speaking with Adhi. She had ZERO clue of my child's whereabouts and emotional state and was of NO help. She barely spoke proper English and I had to spell out things in order for her to comprehend what I was saying! Thank GD for Katie and all of her help. Katie took the situation and handled it in a timely manner. She was very apologetic for Adhi's behavior and took matters into her own hands by giving me the peace of mind that was needed as a parent leaving my child there alone for the first time. Adhi seemed lost and should not be working anywhere that handles matters with children involved! I hope the company finds someone IN OFFICE who is knowledgeable and knows the patients and parents who will better manage the front desk.

My four-year-old Leo B. is an extremely picky eater, and when I asked his pediatrician for advice,…read moreshe suggested he see an occupational therapist. As it turns out, there aren't a ton of occupational therapists in Los Angeles who deal with picky eating. SPOT For Kids was the only place in our network that even purported to offer feeding therapy, and after a few months of driving to and from Westwood at annoying afternoon hours, I'm not entirely convinced of their expertise in this area. SPOT For Kids does seem to provide other kinds of occupational therapy, and they are well equipped with toys and play equipment to keep children engaged. Everyone we dealt with was very nice and very good with kids. I had a couple problems with the office. Our appointments got moved around a lot, despite a standing weekly time slot that I'd communicated to my son's school. We also had to bring a short list of food items to each appointment, and I never got that list before the day of, when I'd have to make a special trip to the store in addition to the drive to Westwood. It should've been easy enough to communicate that list in advance, when I might have incorporated it into our weekly shopping. Leo, though, always enjoyed his visits. He spent most of them playing and easing in, but he did develop a nice rapport with his therapist. She was great with him, and did a good job explaining the basics of feeding therapy to both me and my son. Mostly, this involved a couple of infographic charts about the steps to feeding, nothing I hadn't seen before. She worked with Leo by getting him to talk about and touch and engage with various foods, if with limited success. To be fair, she warned me that feeding therapy is slow and frustrating. But after months with no new foods, I decided to try something else. I signed up for an online course with a pediatric dietitian who specializes in picky eating (Jenny Friedman, if you're interested), and while this wasn't magic either, it was obvious that she had a deep familiarity with picky eating that the folks at SPOT just didn't possess. I think Leo was their only feeding therapy client while we were there, and while they were happy to keep going, I don't know that they added anything to the feeble attempts we were already making at home. This might not be their fault, of course. Leo spent like 45 minutes a week in OT, and we weren't doing everything right the rest of the time. It's quite possible that no amount of expertise can make a cheese and pasta child eat meat and vegetables before he's ready. All I know is SPOT For Kids was not our answer.

We received a call within an hour of him being at the camp that he was stressed and overstimulated and didn't want to participate, so he was going to need extra support to stay. This was shocking to me considering how little time he had been there, that the point of it was to help kids adjust to kindergarten, and that their ratio was 2 adults to 7 kids. They told me that he consistently improved over the course of the first day and further improved on the second day, but that it would be too costly to keep another adult there to help him. It was sad for us because he left on a high note, telling me that he'd made a friend and that he had done a better job staying in the group. He clearly felt like a success and I wish he'd been given the opportunity to continue improving, but I didn't want him to stay at a camp where the facilitators believed that he was too much for them. He successfully did a year of TK last year and several other camps this summer, some with a ratio of 1 adult to 16 kids. CSC was polite to me and pro-rated me the other days, but it was upsetting because I assumed the most expensive camp I signed up for this summer (held at a therapy location) would be the greatest success, not the one camp that had to call me about an issue. This camp may work out for kids who are already very familiar with their gym environment and don't really need that much help when they feel anxious, but if you're looking for something that will help your child if they struggle in a new environment, this does not seem like the best choice. Some camps that worked well for us this summer were Pedalheads, Compass Clinic's Friendship Island Camp, Campbell Hall's Creative Arts Camp, and Destination Science.

Their website looked impressive, and they claimed to specialize in neuro rehab and retraining the nervous system with PTs and OTs. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing. It felt like the staff did not actually understand POTS or how the postural component affects patients. The "treatment" I received was very basic -- simple exercises anyone could find online, instructions to ice my neck, and even being told to imagine a memory from when I wasn't in pain while icing. That is not sustainable or effective treatment for a complex condition. The people themselves were kind, and they did offer me some financial consideration, but the overall pricing was still very high. I ended up spending thousands of dollars -- essentially my entire savings -- and walked away with no real progress or useful strategies. I feel I gained nothing beyond what I already knew. I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend this clinic to anyone seeking serious help for POTS. For me, it was a costly detour that left me starting over in my search for real, effective treatment.
