Given that most centers like this focus primarily on fertility and sexual health-related issues, is there anyone on staff who is a specialist in terms of older women, perimenopausal and menopausal concerns, etc.? Waiting for an answer.

She is incredibly kind, understanding and happy to help. She can move through appointments quickly, but if you have a list of questions, she's more than happy to go through them with you. She is also calm and positive during delivery. Once she arrived at the hospital, she jumps right in, having great relationships with the hospital staff, and calmly getting you ready to push. I have zero complaints with her quality of care. My only one call out would be the staff - I think at times it can be hard to call in/get the help you might need if you're not in the office. She's got a heavy patient load, so her staff is essential to moving folks through and sometimes you can get stuck waiting for a call back or playing phone tag. If Im lucky enough to have another baby I'll be seeing Dr. Tamayo and have recommended her to all of my close friends.

While Dr. Chan may be a knowledgeable and well-educated physician, my experience with the practice was extremely disappointing. Communication with the office was consistently difficult, including frequent difficulty reaching staff by phone, and ultimately I felt that I was unfairly discharged from the practice in the middle of my pregnancy. I attended my initial appointment as scheduled. My second appointment was covered by another physician because Dr. Chan was out of the office. At my third appointment, I waited for more than two hours before Dr. Chan had to leave for an emergency delivery. I completely understood that emergencies happen in obstetrics and did not hold that against her. The issue arose when I later called to reschedule an upcoming appointment. I had been going through an extremely stressful and emotional week after receiving concerning anatomy scan results that ultimately turned out to be incorrect. Rather than simply rescheduling my appointment and discussing any concerns with me, I was informed that I would be discharged from the practice for being "non-compliant." I strongly disagreed with that characterization. I had been participating in my prenatal care and attending my appointments. There were certain tests and interventions that I chose to decline after considering them, but declining medical testing or treatment is not the same thing as being indifferent toward your pregnancy or your health. What was particularly upsetting was later reading documentation characterizing my pregnancy as high-risk, describing me as non-compliant, and suggesting that I appeared "unbothered." That description did not reflect how I felt or the reality of what I was experiencing. I was very much affected by what was happening, including the stress surrounding my anatomy scan and then unexpectedly being told that I was losing my OB provider during pregnancy. Being discharged under those circumstances ultimately led me to seek care elsewhere. I ended up transferring my care to midwives, and the difference in my experience was significant. I felt listened to, respected, and involved in decisions regarding my own pregnancy and body. I ultimately had a successful birth, and my baby was born healthy. Looking back, changing providers turned out to be the right outcome for me, but I do not believe a pregnant patient should be made to feel abandoned or labeled as "non-compliant" simply because she asks to reschedule an appointment or exercises her right to make informed decisions about which tests or interventions she accepts. I am sharing this because other expecting mothers deserve to know how important it is to find a provider whose approach to pregnancy and informed decision-making aligns with their own. My experience with this office left me feeling judged rather than supported during an already vulnerable time, and unfortunately, I would not recommend this practice based on my experience.

To start off, I have social anxiety & im often not able to explain or elaborate as eloquently as I'd like. My mind often goes blank when speaking to someone. As such, I very often leave appointments regretting how much I 'didn't' say bc I was too focused on breathing normal and not getting nervous. Because of this, a lot of doctors don't think I'm in excruciating pain, or it's not as severe since I'm not begging for help or showing much of any emotion. But trust me, my pain is excruciating..... I just struggle to explain it or show emotion to strangers. During my appt he asked all my symptoms.. I didn't get to fully emphasize the debilitating cramps / pain I experience every month (due to my inability to communicate eloquently). But that didn't matter with Dr welebir because All I had to say was "yes I feel pain" for him to take me serious without me having to over explain myself. For that, I'm very thankful. Since I do struggle to explain my symptoms and what I feel; I rarely leave appointments feeling confident that a doctor understood or believes me.. but today I did, even without over explaining myself. On top of that, I can't even begin to explain how detailed he is with explaining various symptoms & the full break down that other doctors fail to do. Call the nurse she said yes and then miranda changed in the front said that she needs her supervisor approval better. So of course they said no. Why ask me to call the nurse and see if they say yes to then ask for someone else? Where is the sympathy of this hospital? I feel if you're 10+ you should be able to see your dad there. The security stepped in and said "well what if he's sick and brings it to all the patients" like what if I'm sick too? You're letting me in? Is he not going to carry anything if he's 14? The age policy needs to change to at least 12! A 12 year old knows about their dad not being home and are well aware why! The girl Miranda at the front desk had attitude too! My husband walked down because they can't stop him to see his son. But we don't get why the security is there following him. If I go back tomorrow and say he's 14 they said they would let him in. Make it make sense! It's ridiculous! This hospital has no sympathy towards families. However, her office staff are slow to respond and when you do get someone on the phone they are condescending and unhelpful. I had an extremely hard time confirming my initial appointment. Most doctors offices these days send out reminders via email or text at least a week in advance of your appointment. When I did not receive a confirmation or reminder I reached out to the office by phone and email multiple times and no one responded to my emails or voicemails. I did not want to take time off of work for an appointment that wasn't confirmed and when I finally got someone on the phone I could practically feel her rolling her eyes at me as she told me they only confirm the day before. Okay, fine, but they could have emailed me back or called me back to answer my question instead of ignoring it for a week. Then I was billed three times for the same amount over the course of three months after I had already paid the bill. When I called the office to ask why my check hadn't been cashed and I was still being billed, the staff answering the phones was incredibly rude and told me to "take a breath" after I calmly explained my issue.
