I have been counceling with Thriveworks for 6 months. I asked 30 hours in advance to cancel an appointment for the first time and got told $135. Complet BS! Roll out the red carpet for your good clients! I'm quitting therapy because of this. The first therapist I had was trash anyway. They hire people that can't get hired elsewhere. Change your policy and you might get better reviews. my tutoring company I ask 24 hours but roll out the red carpet for my VIP clients. You could learn some customer service from me. read more

DO NOT RECEIVE THERAPY HERE. Billing is absolutely terrible. We were charged a cancellation fee even though it was Thriveworks' fault that we had to cancel in the first place. They forgot to mention we'd need a consent form for therapy, and when we joined our call, our therapist said we had to call billing to get the consent form. We called and they didn't understand our request. So after speaking to them for 30 minutes, we just decided to cancel. Another 30 minutes later and they still couldn't cancel the call without the $135 fee even though it was not our fault. We begged to talk to a supervisor and they didn't even understand this request. We're now waiting for a call back to hopefully resolve this -- although I doubt that will happen. Just dealing with them makes you not want to look into therapy elsewhere, which is so sad considering therapy is extremely helpful and beneficial. I feel so sad for all the people that have had to deal with Thriveworks thinking that this is normal -- it is NOT. read more

I had a terrible experience with Thriveworks for online therapy. My therapist was actually helpful...that is, whenever she was available. My intake session was scheduled for November 4 at 3:00 p.m. I receive an email at 2:42 p.m., less than 20 MINUTES before my session, rescheduling due to technical difficulties. On November 25, I receive an email at 11:01 a.m. canceling our appointment due to illness. Fair enough. Things happen, people get sick. Then on December 17 at 4:30 p.m., I experienced a no-call/no-show. I emailed my therapist to no avail. Then I call the Thriveworks phone number included in the email. I go through all of the options and wait to hear from an actual human being. But each time, it just starts the automated choices over again. Needless to say, I am highly disappointed in the lack of care that was displayed. The day of my schedule, I had a lot to unpack. I've been dealing with a lot of anxiety and to have the rug pulled out like that was less than ideal for my mental health. I pray that Thriveworks therapists don't treat suicidal patients and other individuals dealing with very serious mental health issues like this. read more

The absolute worst experience. I only picked up my phone to write this review. First, the day I called to inquire about membership, I was told that my entire family could be on my membership. They specifically said my spouse was included. After I paid the $99, I logged in only to find that was not true. Every time I tried to cancel, the representatives (with an "s") strategically spoke extremely slow even when I told them I could not talk long. Literally each representative talked slow and took a long time to cancel my membership. I was working during the day and was not able to just sit on the phone to wait for them to cancel. They kept trying to figure out how to keep my family's membership. They were successful at duping me into keeping the membership for 24 hours because they said if I cancel the appointment that I literally just scheduled, I would be charged a $99 late cancellation fee which makes ABSOLUTELY no sense because it was just scheduled. Then, I rearranged my entire family's schedule including dinner and homework time to drive all the way (35 minutes which equals 70 minutes roundtrip) to the office...only to find a locked door with no one inside the office. Picture included. There was no contact information on the door to let them know I was there. I called the thriveworks customer service. All for them to tell me they could not call the therapist to let her know we were waiting. They had to email the office and they would respond within 24-48 hours. Smh. Ok... now tell me this!!! If I didn't show up, I would be charged $99 for a late cancellation or no show fee. Right? So...do they owe me $99 for my time, energy, gas, my family's dinner, children's homework, etc? Yes, they do. Thriveworks is completely disgusting and they wasted my time, my children's time, my husband's time, and I'm going to make sure everyone I know...understands how awful thriveworks is. read more

The therapist was great, and I was hopeful for the first time in a long time. Then came billing. There were no prices listed anywhere. It was over $350 for the first session, then $250 for the second session; I didn't even get to the third session. I got hit with $419 in charges in two weeks. Then I got an email that they made a mistake and would return a $135 cancellation fee in 7-10 days for a session that I wasn't even scheduled for on that day. They caused significantly more stress, and although the therapist did give me a call. I chose not to answer since I can't afford to incur more fees. They may have a lot of qualified therapists, but the feeling I get is that the company is only in it for the money and doesn't actually care about the people. When people come to you in crisis.. don't make it worse to make a dollar. read more

Horrible therapy wouldn't go against billing is bad and the therapy is mediocre. I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. Please stay away. I would also mention that this therapist and i agreed to do every other week. The therapist said i can given a notice of 48 hours which i did. But later next week booked me again for next week and got charged twice when I canceled. Even though i was in session with her for a moment. Utterly stupid. Thrive works deserve every low rating they deserve. STEER AWAY FROM THESES PEOPLE. Also would mention that this therapist didn't make sense. She would have sessions lasting for 20-30 minutes. I attended the initial consultation for my son, his mother, and Kelly Clemente (therapist). As I arrived 1st, the therapist took all my information and I asked to be kept in the loop as far as communication and updated progress. As I was not able to attend his therapy sessions as my X-wife, knowingly picked a location that was too far for me to attend. After a few weeks of not receiving updated progress, I reached out to inquire about progress, and after a week of no reply, I called and left a message. I called the main # and was told that the therapist did not put me on the account which seems fishy as I was there for the initial consultation so it appears that she is working with my X wife not to provide an updated status. This is very unprofessional and like many of the other reviews, it appears that this is not a professional or ethical establishment. read more

My therapists were OK. The first one I tried was a little wacky, the second one was good. But what was wildly unacceptable was their billing procedures. I think they are stealing money from me at this point so I literally cancelled my credit card to stop them from ongoing charges. They owe my 270$ at this point and I don't know what will happen next. I came to them for help and I have to say that the amount of aggravation that has resulted from the horrible billing procedures exceeds the help I got while I try to navigate the worst events in my life so far. read more

Please please please please do not use this organization for therapeutic services. They are utterly hopeless, which is a real shame as the therapist that I had for three short sessions was excellent. There was no explanation of costs. It was never mentioned at any point during at least 10 communications. During numerous conversations with Thriveworks, they advised that there MAY be a co-pay and the amount usually totals $50.00, this is also confirmed on their website. I had some insurance delays as Thriveworks was effectively out of network and it took a few weeks for the issues to resolve. When the insurance issues were resolved, I was staggered to see that Thriveworks began charging my credit card this month. The initial intake session conducted on 01/10 cost $395.00. In all my discussions with Thriveworks, email communication, and the contract that I signed, $395.00 was never mentioned. Even on their website, the initial session is advertised as costing $220.00 in the state of Maryland. The therapist also did not discuss the charge with me at any point during the session. The second session on 01/10 then cost a staggering $250, again I was not advised of the costs, and this amount is once again considerably higher than the costs listed on the Thriveworks website. I have called the billing number for Thriveworks and go around in circles when I request justification for the amounts charges and clarification why I was never advised in advance of the charges. They cannot provide an answer and I end up being on phone for 30 minutes each time. I've had to raise a complaint with Better Business Bureau. Look at the reviews for this organization - they should be closed down. read more

I do not want to give the one star. They are awful! They want you to give them 48 if you cancel in the real most of the time you can't. I was told when I made my first appointment that if I get in a car accident i would need pictures or some kind of proof that I was in a car accident. I would need something from a doctor if I had the flu or some kid of illness. If someone in my family dies I would need proof that my family or friend died or a picture, that is sick! Go ahead call they will ask you that. I honestly thought they girl I spoke was being funny and very unprofessional. It is TRUE! Also if you are 5 minutes or 5 hours late canceling your appoint you will be charge a flat rate of 135.00!!!!! That's right party people. Even when you counselor needs to cancel you get charge. That has happen to once I believe. They make your mental health worse. I love my counselor I am still there until I can go someplace else. read more

Scheduling is horrible! Their therapist miss the appointment, and it's "our apologies" ,I miss the REscheduled appointment by 10 minutes, and is charged 4x my payment amount! What a scam!!!! read more

I scheduled a meeting with one of their psychiatrist RNs. I ended the call after 3 minutes because the RN was rude, didn't want to look at the personal history documents this office requests you fill out before the appointment, and she didn't know what C-PTSD was. What I asked, "you don't know what C-PTSD is", she responded that she knew what PTSD was but didn't know what would make it complex(in a very hoity-toity tone) Obviously not versed in all pretty basic issues. Beware!! Make sure the person treating you see knows about the issues they are supposed to be treating. I know it's difficult to find a psychiatrist right now but you don't have to pay their ridiculous monthly "membership" fee on top of a co-pay and what they charge insurance!!!! You can see a general practice DR and get just as good, if not better care to start meds. read more

Horrible billing department. I read a lot about how disastrous it is, but now that I've experienced it myself, I can speak from personal experience. First, they created two accounts for me. I called three times to delete the duplicate one, but it was never fixed. Then, I received an email stating that I have an overdue balance of $130 as a deductible, despite the fact that my insurance has no deductible. The next day, I got an email with an overdue balance of $750. I called the same morning, and they said it's $0. Each person gives a different number. There is no clear system and no seriousness in handling money. If you want stress, Thriveworks is the best place to be. read more

A family member recently used the services of Thriveworks and, in particular, a counselor named Kayla Barnowsky. This is not the first time my relative has had to seek counseling and she was so impressed with her interaction with Kayla. She found Kayla to be particularly compassionate and attentive and very interested in my relative's particular circumstances. She left their session feeling much better about her situation and felt this was such a change from past counseling sessions she has been a part of. read more
