I WAS a patient until today…read more I called the office 3 times while on my way to my appt to let them know there was an accident and I was running late 2 calls went to voice-mail 3rd call was on hold then they answered. They don't care if you are running late bc of an accident. I arrived 11-12 minutes late and I had to beg to see if my NP would still see me bc my appt was 9:30-10 so there was time from 9:42- 10 but the office staff wasted about 4 minutes talking to each other and my NP before finally agreeing to see me. I'm NEVER late I moved 40 minutes away and wanted to continue with my NP but after the treatment I received today from the office staff and NP I will be going to see someone else. If they are running late I guess that's ok. There should be an exception. I was willing to sit there and let the next patient take my appt and I would wait. Once I was in there it was clear there was no compassion or care or interest in talking to me. Very disappointed and hurt. Sat in my car after appt and cried bc I couldn't believe a MENTAL HEALTH practioner whom I truly loved and felt so comfortable with really didn't care about my care but more about "policy" Very disappointed especially being I left so upset and there.was no follow-up call or anything.

His therapeutic style is very relaxed and conversational, yet still professional. I appreciate the casual feel it gives as I am able to be remain comfortable throughout our sessions together. We really work well together, discussing serious matters like family issues or ongoing mental health, but we'll also joke a little bit every now and then to lighten the heavy mood. I'm grateful that he is so attuned to what I'm feeling and being able to adjust the style of the conversation as needed. I've never been to therapy prior to him, so I must say that I really lucked out on being paired with him especially due to the severe anxiety I was dealing with when I first began seeing him. He also has apologized for any short notice cancellations (which are very rare) he may have to make and always encourages me to reschedule with the front office as soon as I am able. I truly appreciate how kind and considerate he is overall. I can tell that he's not just an excellent social worker but a great human being. In fact, he has inspired me to become a social worker and future LCSW as well. I aspire to be at least half as good a therapist as he is. And I must mention that Kim Rodgers is an amazing secretary. She always says hello to me when I make it into the office (I have had to move my sessions to mostly TeleHealth due to financial strain) and asks me how I am. She also is kind enough to ask me if I'd like a water which is great because I sometimes leave my water at home and am thirsty before sessions. I do enjoy our brief chats (if she isn't busy answering phone calls, rescheduling sessions, responding to emails, etc.) before Michael steps out to grab me. As Michael has said, the administration is an integral part of the rockstar team that makes up Family Guidance Centers. All administrative staff I have spoken to over the last couple years have all been kind and willing to assist me in rescheduling appointments or canceling (which has only happened once!). None of them have ever had a bad attitude or made me feel uncomfortable trying to receive help. I'm truly grateful for Family Guidance Centers and all they do to help their community. She takes a very direct and rationale approach to therapy, and told me up front that she wanted to get me over this phobia as quickly as possible so that she could stop seeing me, and start helping another patient. I can respect that. And I appreciate the willingness to actually work hard and not pansy around. You think I like being afraid to fly? Hell no. Her approach is all about acceptance and coping. As in- accept that I don't like to fly, and figure out how to make the best of it without causing an international incident. Six months later, I flew to Cancun for a vacation. And two months after that I flew to Orlando for work. So she lived up to her promise- she is fast and efficient. Our sessions took place in large room set up for yoga. Our instructor, Rae, exuded such calming energy and really made my experience a 10/10. She created a safe space for everyone in the class and guided the class through thoughtful prompts. I left each class feeling rejuvenated and inspired.
