I WAS a patient until today…read more I called the office 3 times while on my way to my appt to let them know there was an accident and I was running late 2 calls went to voice-mail 3rd call was on hold then they answered. They don't care if you are running late bc of an accident. I arrived 11-12 minutes late and I had to beg to see if my NP would still see me bc my appt was 9:30-10 so there was time from 9:42- 10 but the office staff wasted about 4 minutes talking to each other and my NP before finally agreeing to see me. I'm NEVER late I moved 40 minutes away and wanted to continue with my NP but after the treatment I received today from the office staff and NP I will be going to see someone else. If they are running late I guess that's ok. There should be an exception. I was willing to sit there and let the next patient take my appt and I would wait. Once I was in there it was clear there was no compassion or care or interest in talking to me. Very disappointed and hurt. Sat in my car after appt and cried bc I couldn't believe a MENTAL HEALTH practioner whom I truly loved and felt so comfortable with really didn't care about my care but more about "policy" Very disappointed especially being I left so upset and there.was no follow-up call or anything.

I then had less psych appointments and started seeing Elise for therapy and that has been great as well. Highly recommend this place!

He also has individual therapy and we have individual family therapy. The therapists are amazing, professional, and they truly care about the people they are providing care to. The space is warm and inviting. The therapists we've worked with are Bryce, Sparkle, Mike, and Andre is doing their family therapy training work with Bryce. This team of professionals have all been there when we needed them and are "the best". I am so grateful we chose Sandstone to get help for my 19-year-old son. Thank you!!!

They will order Uber Eats and eat it right in front of you during group therapy and the counselors are very sensitive and will walk out of the room if you say something they don't agree with based on their own opinion. His therapeutic style is very relaxed and conversational, yet still professional. I appreciate the casual feel it gives as I am able to be remain comfortable throughout our sessions together. We really work well together, discussing serious matters like family issues or ongoing mental health, but we'll also joke a little bit every now and then to lighten the heavy mood. I'm grateful that he is so attuned to what I'm feeling and being able to adjust the style of the conversation as needed. I've never been to therapy prior to him, so I must say that I really lucked out on being paired with him especially due to the severe anxiety I was dealing with when I first began seeing him. He also has apologized for any short notice cancellations (which are very rare) he may have to make and always encourages me to reschedule with the front office as soon as I am able. I truly appreciate how kind and considerate he is overall. I can tell that he's not just an excellent social worker but a great human being. In fact, he has inspired me to become a social worker and future LCSW as well. I aspire to be at least half as good a therapist as he is. And I must mention that Kim Rodgers is an amazing secretary. She always says hello to me when I make it into the office (I have had to move my sessions to mostly TeleHealth due to financial strain) and asks me how I am. She also is kind enough to ask me if I'd like a water which is great because I sometimes leave my water at home and am thirsty before sessions. I do enjoy our brief chats (if she isn't busy answering phone calls, rescheduling sessions, responding to emails, etc.) before Michael steps out to grab me. As Michael has said, the administration is an integral part of the rockstar team that makes up Family Guidance Centers. All administrative staff I have spoken to over the last couple years have all been kind and willing to assist me in rescheduling appointments or canceling (which has only happened once!). None of them have ever had a bad attitude or made me feel uncomfortable trying to receive help. I'm truly grateful for Family Guidance Centers and all they do to help their community. However in the initial questionaire the Option of Self Payment is asked. That is because insurance does not cover marriage counseling as it is not viewed as a medical necessity and thus not covered. Further counseling is likely not done by medically qualified individuals - board certified physicians, psychiatrist etc. So in short be prepared for serious out of pocket expenses as you will likely be paying 100%. The question regarding Self Pay is very likely to weed out those expecting insurance assistance. I am sure they are professional and polite.  Just hope your needs for counseling is brief or income/savings sufficient.

Additionally, the tools we learned have also applied to our children. Specifically, we are teaching them to solve their own problems WITH each other in a way that is constructive. I will not tell you the process is easy--in fact, I think it gets worse before it gets better because you will not only tackle what's in front of you but past hurts and mistakes. In other words, you might draw up painful moments that makes the sessions and homework tough... on the positive side, once it is behind you and forgiven, it's behind you. She listens…read morethoroughly and is very observant, she can always tell if a certain topic makes me a little emotional and I try and hide it she can definitely notice. She hears me and sees me, and I've only been seeing her for a little over a month I have grown very comfortable with her to where I feel like I can talk to her about almost everything. My last therapy experience wasn't quite the same and I'm glad I decided to give it another go with someone new. I look forward to our session every week.
