This review is long overdue. My gf and I were in town for the Healdsburg Food & Wine event. We both ended up here early before the event. The inside interiors were inviting but after meeting Gina and Evin, we were enjoying ourselves and totally sucked into the experience! One tasting led to several other tastings. Both Gina and Evin were so personable and fun to chat with. Gina led the way in asking us our preferred wines. So if it's not on the tasting menu, they will bring it out for you. I was impressed there was a chardonnay I liked- the type fermented with concrete as opposed to French oak. Since, there was no savignon blanc. There were also various blends of reds and a Cabernet Franc varietal of rose I enjoyed. Ultimately, we were having fun in here tasting, discussing wine and telling stories with lots of laughter. For a boutique wine, the price points are very reasonable. The kink theme was amusing to us and of course our tasting room associates made this so fun! Of course, we both joined the club and when in Healdsburg again, we'll have to stop in and see Gina and Evin. read more

My travel companion and I made a last minute decision to do a wine tasting at Thumbprint Cellars as a way to kill some time before dinner in Healdsburg - and we are SO GLAD that we did. We had spent the day on a long hike and were excited for some refreshing post-hike wine. They had a very reasonable $40 for a 6-wine tasting option (and we got one tasting free after buying 2 wines). It also came with a complimentary cheese board- GF almond crackers, cheese, jam, dried apricot, and these AMAZING spiced almonds (made in house). We sat outside on the covered patio out front to enjoy the beautiful evening while tasting :) The 6 we tried: - 2021 Chardonnay: light and crisp- hard to believe it was really a Chardonnay! Although that apple flavor gave it away. I could drink a bottle of this on the beach. Bought a bottle. - 2021 Rose: very light and refreshing. Easy to drink and wonderful floral smell and flavor. - 2020 Pinot Noir: ended up buying a bottomless. Delicious! Had an interesting black cherry undertone to the flavor. - 2017 Cab Franc: tasted great, had a really unique spicy finish, which worked so well with the spiced almonds - 2016 Cab Sauv: this tasted like drops of blueberries and blackberries. Absolutely amazing. - 2016 Redacted: tasty red blend The guide who walked us through the tasting, Gina, was such a friendly and knowledgeable person! Evan was absolutely phenomenal. Personable, kind, extremely knowledgeable, the best a host could be. My wife and I were celebrating a kid-free anniversary day/evening together in Healdsburg and our first stop was Thumbprint, a place that comes highly recommended to us from friends. Although having been in the wine industry myself for nearly 15 years, I had never been to Thumbprint cellars. From the delicious, well priced wines, to Evan's impeccable customer service, we were extremely happy after our visit. Their wines are fantastic, quirky, funky, and fun. Next time you visit, be sure to check out the names of their red blends and their club tiers, you won't be disappointed. The standout stars for us today were the Merlot, and Cabernet Franc - which is what they are most known for. So a friend had suggested coming by here since there were a number of the wines that vegan which was very appealing for my partner. We've come in for a few tastings since then. Evan and Gina have both been dolls while we've been there. Extremely personable and knowledgeable of the wines, we adored the tastings that we had. Stopped in here on a rainy day because it happened to be next to one of the only parking spots open at the time, and boy did I luck out! Paul was an amazing tour guide as he led me and my girlfriend on a trip through their amazing showcase of wines. We tried all of their reds and everything was on point and it came with a cheese board that complimented the wine perfectly!! The two wines that absolutely blew me away were the Climax and the Grenache. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area!!! P.S. Paul is AMAZING!!!! read more

This place sold me purely from their wines! Above is a list of the 6 different wines I sampled at Thumbprint, and I loved each and everyone of them. They all tasted great. Before Thumbprint, I have yet been to a winery / cellar where I liked each and every tasting they poured, but I can now say I have after going to Thumbprint. All the whites and reds tasted wonderful. To be honest, I was because I didn't expect it from a normal looking cellar at all. My husband and I have gone to plenty of wineries together, and he agreed that this one has the best wines out of all the ones we've visited. A second source has agreed too. :) At the end of our tasting, I had to make a tough decision between which bottle I want to take back with me. Although I really enjoyed all the wines I had from here, my husband had already graciously bought me two bottles of wine from a different winery earlier as an early birthday present, so - one bottle from Thumbprint would be plenty! Although, I absolutely love reds and wanted to take a red back with me, the white Viognier was just so fascinating and interestingly tasting, in a good way, that I chose that bottle instead of other ones. It was not your normal typical white, but instead it had different tannins in an intriguing way. read more

Thumbprint Cellars was part of our wine and food tour in Healdsburg. The tasting room is right on the square so when you are wine tasting outside you are looking at the park. Nice! Paul was our host and we had so much fun spending our time with him. The tasting experience was very personable and he was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The cheese board was very impressive and we loved the almonds which we deemed as "sexy nuts" that came right out of the oven. Thumbprint was a nice stop on this particular tour we really enjoyed the ambience and their unique wines. We end up purchasing a bottle of the 2015 Merlot Frei Vineyard for our dinner that night and open her up and reminisce all evening long of our perfect day. Cheers! read more

I love this winery so much! The staff is wonderful, the wines are wonderful, and their thoughtful cheeseboards are also wonderful. I cannot say enough good things abt thumbprint cellars! Their rose is delicious as well as their white wines like their chardonnays and their reds - both blends and single varietals! This is also a family owned business. Wonderful experience! Our tasting, led by the knowledgeable and fun Gina Wallace, had two flights of excellent wines. I started with the Pinot Noir and was surprised by its unique and delightful flavor with a hint of hibiscus. But my favorite was the double gold medal Cab that was served at the end. We took home 4 bottles, some new insights into wine-making (Gina is a great storyteller), and some hilarious stickers (!) Wonderful ambience with startling prints under glass artwork. This was our first stop of three wine tasting rooms in Healdsburg. It sits right on the town square and is easy to find. We were hosted by Matt for our visit. He was warm and charming and was an excellent guide to their elegant wines. We also appreciated the cheese, nuts, and crackers that were served with the tastings. The conversation about wine and wine region travel was really engaging. Great people like Matt make a difference in the full experience that is wine tasting. While exploring charming downtown Healdsburg, we decided to pop into this cute little wine tasting bar -- and I'm so glad we did! This isn't your usual "oh-so-snotty" wine tasting room in the Napa Valley, it's super friendly and very down to Earth. In other words, you don't have to worry about being laughed at behind your back if you know NOTHING about wine. The tasting room is staffed with cool and funky employees who are really knowledgeable about the wine they are pouring. These folks are super friendly and make this a really fun tasting experience. The wines are pretty tasty too (though a little pricey in my opinion). Tastings are reasonably priced at $5 per person, but they'll let you share a glass if you want. Definitely worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

We walked in ti the Healdsburg location at 3:30pm on Saturday 10/29/22, zero customers, 3 employees. My husband and I asked for a glass of wine each. One of the employees said to the one getting ready to serve us that they don't serve by the glass until after 5pm. We didn't want a tasting so slowly left hoping they would honor the statement on their website "come in for a tasting or a glass all day long, walk-ins or reservations welcome." Disappointing. How amazing it was to be able to enjoy some great wine even during covid times. My husband and I had a blast talking to our wine provider (not sure what to call them? haha) and enjoying some great wine with a cute snack platter. We really appreciated being able to enjoy some great pairings with the wine. Usually, just cheese is presented with the wine, but we were given a great variety of treats to taste with the wine, their house made almonds are to die for! We purchased the wine "threesome" and will definitely be back to grab some more! We've been Thumbprint fans for many years, and are club members for a decade or so. We haven't visited in about 5 years, however, until a couple of weeks ago. As always, we had a delightful visit and tasting. We were lucky to get reservations without much notice, but it's pretty early in the season still. They have limited seated tastings now, including outdoor seating. Service was great and there was no rush. We got a small cheese plate that was a nice bite during the tasting. We joined primarily for their reds, which are delicious and some of the best you can buy, imo. They do some really amazing blends, and the petit verdot never disappoints. This year they have a chilled red (NuVO) that is a light blend of a few different grapes. I really liked that one and ultimately preferred it to the cab franc rose (and I love a rose). The service was very friendly and we always have that experience when we visit. Ivy put together a great play list so if the music is lacking mention that. Ultimately, you can't go wrong with any of the Thumbprint reds. They are all very rich and aromatic. Thumbprint is a must-drink if you are in the area, and they are perfectly located in Healdsburg at the corner of the square. Make a res and hit them up. read more

I absolutely NEVER anticipated that I would enjoy a tasting In the town Healdsburg. This is not because I don't love Healsburg, but because we are Valley of the Moon residents used to Sonoma Style Tastings with a beautiful vineyard view. It turns out that Thumbprint offered the BEST tasting we have ever had in Sonoma and Napa Counties! 1)We were served by the owner and wine maker. 2) we were given, at no cost, a charcuterie board as part of our tasting 3) the owner could relate to my palate and suggested wines to buy. Here we are, several weeks later, and my husband does a blind tasting on me and my favorite wine was the 2016 Thumbprint Cab Franc. It has pencil lead in the taste, a ready drinker now, or able to cellar for a few years. Last night we tried the 2014 Dry creek valley Malbec and LOVED it!!!!! This place has excellent wines!!!! We tasted several weeks ago with our daughter who is a member. We were quickly transported to our experiences with her in NYC while she was attending NYU. We all really enjoyed our tasting! I felt like I was back in her neighborhood in NYC. I would highly recommend this winery/tasting room/experience, even over the ones with a "beautiful view." read more

With my spouse in the wine industry and my having worked in the wine industry, you'd think we'd be better about getting out and tasting but, sadly, we rarely do. Having a two year old certainly doesn't help, but I digress. We recently decided to break the streak and go out and do some tasting in and around Healdsburg. We visited 5 places total and Thumbprint was hands-down our favorite. The wines are very good- I especially liked the viognier, fourplay and cab franc. I think I may even say they made my favorite local viognier and cab franc! They were quite, QUITE good. The staff was friendly and fun and largely responsible for our not getting to visit many more wineries- because we definitely lingered longer than we'd planned. Fun place, well located right on the square, definitely worth a visit. Oh! And the place is also something of an art gallery- featuring some great local artists that had me wishing I made a lot more money....ahh... read more

While I've only heard about the lounge, I spent last night pouring wine with Scott (proprietor and winemaker) at a catered function. His enthusiasm and expertise are apparent in his mannerisms and the Thumbprint wines we were pouring (Cab Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc) were clearly well designed and crafted without a hint of the snobbery that can be associated with North Bay wineries. I'd imagine that the lounge is run with the same care and I'm looking forward to visiting. Edit: I've now been to the lounge and raised the rating from 4 to 5 stars on the confirmation of my above assumptions. read more
