We love Rockpile. We have been here several times and have never been disappointed. We came in on a Sunday and it wasn't very busy at that time. The person doing the tasting said his name was Sean but if the experience was not very good, he was Todd. Poor Todd was shy and never made an appearance. He started us off with several different wines but my favorite was the Ranch Reserve Zin. The tasting room in in town but was very bright, airy and clean. Rockpile is somewhat of a staple in Healdsburg and has truly stood the test of time due to its wines. While many may associate the brand with their Zinfandels, they also do offer some delicious other varietals as well. Being known as the "Best winery on a roundabout" is not a joke, but it does give you some fun opportunities for people watching and maybe some who struggle at driving in a roundabout. Wine wise as mentioned, they offer mostly if not all red (Every time I've been at least) and most are priced in what one would expect to pay for the area and quality. Hospitality has always been great, which does help during an educational tasting or maybe just a casual drop in. No complaints on this one from me and would happily suggest this winery to any looking for some solid red wine choices in Healdsburg. read more

As their sign says, "best wine on the roundabout!" Sure, they may be the only wine on the roundabout, but their wine really is delicious. They specialize in small-lot, single-vineyard red wines. We LOVE their Zinfandels: Botticelli Zin, Florence Zin, Petroglyth... Their downtown Healdsburg tasting room is light, bright, airy, and inviting. Make a reservation and enjoy a tasting inside or outside on their adjacent tented patio. Rockpile has a beautiful tasting room located right in downtown Healdsburg next to the roundabout. Rockpile is a part of the Wilson Family Winery portfolio. Their space has a modern and industrial feel to it. There is a lot of natural light and the large doors are garage doors that open so you can enjoy some fresh air while you are tasting​ inside. They also have plenty of seating outside on their patio! The tasting fee is $25.00 per person for 4 wines on their Heritage flight. This flight usually includes one Bordeaux and three single vineyard Zinfandels. The flights change bi-weekly so if you visit often you will usually get to try something new each time. :) The flight price is waived with a $45 wine purchase per person. It's not often I go somewhere where I love every wine I taste. This is definitely one of those places! The staff is wonderful and always super warm and friendly and happy to share their wonderful wine knowledge! I've tasted with both Tori and Chris and they both are amazing! One of the perks if you join their wine club or any of the Wilson Family Wineries wine clubs is you get to enjoy their sister wineries too. Such a fun tasting room! It truly does offer the "best wine on the roundabout!" Rockpile Vineyards is one of the latest additions to the Wilson Artisan Wines family. It's located in downtown Healdsburg off of Healdsburg Ave, right at the end of the roundabout. I came here with friends while attending the 2019 Wine & Chili Taste-off event, and we had a fabulous time! Their outlaw brisket and oxtail chili wasn't the greatest (it tasted a little burnt), but their wines were delicious! First off, their tasting wine is adorable! The tasting bar has a horseshoe setup with very elegant chandelier lighting hanging from the ceiling. It's a quaint setup with a very intimate environment. They have a small room that can be reserved for private tastings as well. The atmosphere in the tasting room was very lively and fun. Dustin was amazing! He was super knowledgeable about all of the wines and kept us entertained during our entire tasting. We really enjoyed his chipper personality and his relaxed demeanor. As previously mentioned, the wines were fantastic! Like most of the other Wilson Artisan Wineries, Rockpile Vineyards is known for their red wines (more specifically their Zinfandel). It was love at first sip! I fell deeply in love with their Zinfandel. It was fruit forward, spicy, and mildly sweet... ALL of the wonderful attributes that I admire in a delicious Zin. If you're a fan of Zinfandel then you will love Rockpile's wine. It's so damn scrumptious! I'm so glad that Rockpile has been added to the Wilson Artisan Wines family! This is another great Wilson winery that I'm excited to have membership benefits to. I can't wait to make another visit here soon. read more

Such a perfect place to spend an afternoon in Healdsburg. We needed a little something extra after a tasting at their sister winery, Wilson, which has a lovely tasting...but no food! So we made our way to Rockpile Vineyards, which was SUCH A BREATH OF FRESH AIR! Literally, LOL. While the indoors is still closed, the outdoor seating in front offers just enough warmth and shade to keep comfortable. I don't know our young wine expert's name, but he was so gracious and lovely, I hope that we encounter him again. He started us with a glass of champagne, and made a lovely cheese platter for us (which they usually only do for guests with reservations). Not only was he super knowledgable about the wines, but just went above and beyond with his politeness and professionalism. My friend and I were saying that we would definitely return and start our day here. BTW, tasting fees are waived if you purchase a bottle. And voila...a bottle of champagne made it's way home with me :) read more

The tasting room is located on the circle as you head towards healdsburg square. Rockpile grapes come from the beautiful area north near lake Sonoma. We visited on a brutally hot Sonoma day, which made it really tough to taste such big amazing reds. We started with the rose of syrah. Very nice, easy drinking wine on this warm afternoon. We had a very pleasant time chatting with Mick our host and guide through the wines. We enjoyed all of the wines, but the syrah was probably my favorite. We look forward to returning when the weather is a little cooler to taste some wine again! read more

I am a Jackwad because I wait and wait -, I want to get everything right for a Really Awesome Winery with superbly made reds that have a range, don't all taste the same, and are consistently balanced, ripe mature berry fruit, sophisticated. Every berry you can buy at the store- you can taste in these wines. And it takes me a year. When I should be doing something - no. For me - when wine, is delicious and complex, and then the staff is cool, super knowledgable and having fun, that's when I'm most comfortable. Like dining at a busy restaurant and everyone is moving efficiently, service, friendliness, time it takes to get your drinks - no pattern here - that's what I love and miss about wine tasting & dining, breaking bread with friends and new friends. Can't we all get a long - yeah we can. My cousins were with me and Mike, Sean - the main stain here, classy, comfortable, a cool professional runs the show with an undertone of confidence in his people, and he hires well. Taci was perfect for us. It's always difficult to not over teach or talk over people's head on some of it. Depending on how sold out you are in enjoying excellent Vino. Sean pointed me to a few of the portfolio of Rockpile so I had checked it out. Great soil - killer Terrior, climate n all of that stuff. Tori was smart, friendly wit, we had a blast and this was so long ago it's embarrassing. Then I see the Dynamic Duo - Brauny & DNA tasting only the best wines like Rockpile, Tamber Bey, Westwood, every night during Pandemonium. Here's me on my 3rd 4 Liter Box of FRANZIA PINK MOSCATO. Chill - I judged with the hire to that kingdom, Renata you oughta. That stuff is tasty on a sleazy night over ice in a big cup. Apologies - I digress. If you can't visit, -do wine club, ship a case, this is what highly rated wine taste like that's not a $Hundy a bottle. I'm trying to leave a few in the cellar/closet. They're built for it or give them 60-90 to breathe. So good with almost anything if you let those tannins soften some. read more

It was recommended by the chambers of commerce and they were right. It was a cool spot with delicious wine. I am not much of a wine drinker. I prefer whiskey and beer. This place and another were both awesome visits and I found a few things I enjoyed. Plus the person who helped us was hilarious and had to put up with my father. My wife and I made reservations to visit Rockpile (highly recommended). When we arrived, we had a private tasting room set up and we tried a variety of their wines. They're known for their Zinfandels, which I highly recommend - definitely full bodied and bursting with flavor. Dustin was our server and he was AWESOME - he passionately described each of the wines and helped us navigate through the wine list. I stopped by on Wednesday afternoon to taste their wind. There were two groups tasting wine; a pleasant couple sampling nearby and a group of six "happy" people outside under the tent. I waited over five minutes for the server to at least recognize me. All he did was glance over, and seemingly deciding to continue that laughing with the happy group under the tent. After five minutes of being ignored, I departed - I won't willingly be back. I can't comment on the wine, since I didn't get an opportunity to taste, but the customer service was worth not experiencing. You have been warned. read more

It was decent. Nothing to write home about. We were enticed by the sign out front about the award-winning Zin, which was pretty good. The service was also attentive. The location is prime, right in front of the new roundabout in Healdsburg where there is some really nice landscaping. It's also walkable distance to a lot of other wineries, bars, and places to eat. We were served right away even though we are young and not rich (a previous winery we went to did not even serve or acknowledge us). Their wines are EXPEEEENSIVE though. Like every winery I've been to, they'll waive the tasting fee if you buy a bottle, but the cheapest bottle was over $60 so... Yeah, we just paid for the tasting. read more

Absolutely gorgeous tasting room! A place that takes your tasting experience to the next level. Their wines are very different than the average tasting experience, very bold and deep and do not lack flavor! Staff is very attentive and knowledgeable here and willing to answer any questions! Wines are a bit above most prices in the area but I do think that Rockpile is extraordinary. The history behind Rockpile is fascinating as well and the tasting room is in a great, easy location. Would have loved to have tried more wines here but I was on a tour and it was preset up - will have to make a visit here in the near future! Tori is fabulous but I'm sure anyone here would be excellent as your wine guide! read more

It sucks to have to write this review as we have had a few good experiences here, only because of one staff member (Tori, i will only recommend her). Outside of one of them we've always been treated less than we would at any other winery. I have been a club member for over a year and I finally am giving up after multiple tastings leaving me uncomfortable. My group this past weekend was treated so horribly. Barrel tasting had been cancelled but we still went to wineries since we were in town. There was 8 of us and all the Wilson family wineries were welcoming us very kindly and was making it very fun for us even though the event was cancelled. We knew it may be hard walking in with 8 people and we were prepared for slower service which we would say upfront not expecting to be the center of their attention. None of the wineries cared and were excited for us to be there. When we showed up to Rockpile, 3 male employees all made horrible glaring faces at us. One of them aggressively shaking his head telling another employee not to serve us. One of my friends said "should we leave?" and an employee said "hell yes" thinking we couldn't hear him. I apologized multiple times. They said it was going to be frustrating but they'll do it. We were there for probably 40 minutes and Tori helped us and was nice to us but I watched two other male employees stand there the whole time doing the bare minimum. So it didn't seem like it was such a hassle as workers weren't doing anything the entire time we were there. When we went to another Wilson family winery we told them our honest experience, being honest about our own mistake of coming in with 8 people and they expressed great concern and told us we should never have been treated that way. I will be cancelling my membership with them and most likely not going back there. I still love the Wilson family and will continue my relationship with the other wineries. read more

A brand new winery from the Wilson Family, which has bought our opened up about 10 micro to boutique wineries in the region. Rockpile hails from the famous rockpile AZVA, which is one of the greatest zinfandel regions there is. They make some serious, heady, dense, challenging zinfandels with prices to match ($60-80 per bottle). The location looks over Healdsburg's long-term attempt to create a traffic circle, in an impressive industrial space that used to be a vegan cafe. The windows open up to a nice breeze. They're working on decorating the place. This is seriously, seriously good wine. Given the prices I can't say that it's better or worse than other crazy-expensive wines, but the tasting program at $15 is a good value -- you get to try four $60 a bottle retail wines, plus get an explanation, in nice surroundings, plus a bonus pour two. I wouldn't make a special trip for this, but I would put it on my list of wineries to taste in Healdsburg. read more

I came here for the first time and it was a great experience. The atmosphere is very modern and open and the wine was delicious. I am not a huge fan of Zinfandel usually but their wines converted me. For the people out there that like the bolder reds they also have a Cab Franc, Petite Syrah and Petite Verdot. The woman that helped us was very friendly and attentive as well.
