Had an emergency plumbing issue on Saturday evening. I found a plumber willing to come out and he recommended this company for abatement. Daniel showed up the next morning and started drying out the walls of my house. He set up containments, and found all of the areas affected by the water, which was extensive and covered both floors of my house. Eventually, everything was dried out and cleared of any problems. What I appreciated about this company was their transparency and honesty. Daniel told me every step of the process, helped me file the insurance claim and helped me understand what was happening every step of the way. My washer flooded the house causing water damage. This was my first time dealing with this and my plumber recommended Thunder & Lightning Services. I put the call in at 3p on a SUNDAY and Manual was at my house by 6:30p with all the equipment needed to test, dry, and contain the leak. It's been a process due to the leak but I do want to thank Manual and Joseph for their transparency, thorough communication, and customer service during this stressful time. Both offered help and answered all my questions as I've never had to deal with a leak. They communicated when they would come, worked around my work meetings, and were very professional. Little late on this review but we had a water leak in our kitchen behind the dishwasher. Needless to say, wall, floors, outside wall were wet! Preferred Plumbing called in Thunder and Lightning as the restoration service. Out technician Manuel was here within the hour of being called. He not only immediately started setting up fans, but enclosed the kitchen area in plastic to prevent dust etc from being blown within the house. Plus he sat down with mom to call the insurance company, spoke with the claims adjuster. He came back several times to ensure that the walls were drying eventually taking out damaged cabinet while taking great care not to cause any further damage (kitchen remodel with last 5 years). The insurance company covered cost of restoration but if we ever need these type of services again, definitely will be Thunder & Lightning! read more

***BEWARE*** Frauds and it's likely the plumbers referring them to you are getting compensated*** -- The exact thing happened to me and my partner just as it did in Hector R.'s review ( dated 7/8/24). We were new homeowners who reached out to our warranty company for plumbing issues with insignificant water damage (which we came to find out later), but that plumber referred us to Thunder & Lighting, which we took the recommendation of because we were in a rush to fix the issue as I was just a few weeks postpartum with a newborn at home. T&L came out and told us we had water damage that needed to be addressed. Used every tactic in the book to make it seem as though we potentially had mold issues. At the end of the day they made large holes to 3 sections of our home and asked us to use their machines for over 5 days. We had to continuously remind them we had their machines because they were not communicating with us how long it would take-they claimed it would be based on the machine's reading, which again was very unclear. When push came to shove, we asked them to stop everything because not only were we using an abundance of own electricity, but their lack of communication and assurance on whether the issue would be fixed was lacking. They didn't resolve anything nor did they help patch our walls up, which ended up being another home project for us with a newborn and at our own cost. We're at our wit's end knowing that they were charging us $5,000 for not getting anything solved. After communicating this with them, they decided to take the supposed dues to a debt collector and are now due in court. Oh, and the issue they came out for? It ended up being a small leak from the guest bathroom tub that we were able to fix ourselves. Nothing close to the diagnosis we received from them. Just an update to inform anyone who would like to know about the follow through of this company, Thunder & Lightning and it's owner, Charlie Balan. It's disappointing to be that person who exposes negative information, but after processing & still finding myself emotionally charged from the aftermath of this company, I feel it's warranted to alert others on the damage this company & Mr. Balan has left in their wake. In the beginning, everything seemed to be going great, and Charlie reassured me all of our plans to upgrade, would go smoothly. He even suggested some ideas for future plans to upgrade, after the initial treatment phase was completed. I naively trusted the guarantee Mr. Balan offered, to assist me in acquiring some extra funds. I'm here to say, don't be fooled by his over-the-top antics. Truth be told, I had to learn the hard way, when his company essentially disappeared right before the job was to be completed. I was patient & figured there was a reason for these delays, and I had to make assumptions for their sudden departure. I then received no updates from Thunder & Lightning, and every time I tried to reach out to Mr. Balan, he either ignored my calls or would claim to be on the phone; but I never received a call back, zero contact, and no explanation, or follow through to make good on the agreement he made with me. Instead he disappeared into the shadows like the shady individual he is, leaving unfinished business, financial hardship, and cut corners anyway possible, instead of providing quality service with honor & integrity. I started off with the highest hopes & the best expectations, and unfortunately I was taken advantage of & left with no explanation, and a hefty bill in my name. Some helpful advice: Always make honest claims when dealing with decisions that will affect the livelihood of your family, home, & children. The short gain, does not justify the long term effects from poor & untruthful actions. I own my poor choice in allowing Mr. Balan to shatter my trust, but you better believe I will share my experience with anyone that may fall victim to companies such as this.... ******reader beware***** This company is as shady as they come. I was installing flooring in my home and noticed that there was water. The Plumber (Bob The Plumber referred us to Thunder And Lightning. We were brand new homeowners so we fell into the trap. Travis, which is no longer with the company came to our home within the hour. He advised us the insurance would pay for everything. When it came time to call the insurance, he says he would do the talking. Without getting approval from the insurance, we let them come into our home and bring dehumidifiers, carpet blowers half of them didn't work, but they kept bringing more and more daily. I Wasn't hearing back from the insurance I told Travis to please pick up his machines until the insurance approves by then the bill was up to $4000. I did get a letter in the mail from Farmers insurance that they will be dropping us for this claim. Tried calling Thunder And Lightning and they will not work with me. They sold off the contract to a debt collector. Please do not use this company. Instead, go rent the machines yourself from a reputable rental company. read more

This is a rather long and painful story to tell and the review is regarding both Thunder and Lightning and Instant Plumbing. As such, I've copied and pasted a similar review for both. A picture is also worth a thousand words, so please do see my lovely stud bathroom that I was left with by Thunder and Lightning after they promised full restorations. Do not walk and RUN from these shady companies - Instant Plumbing and Thunder and Lightning Restoration! We purchased a property in Lake Arrowhead. The first week of ownership, we discovered a plumbing leak in our main floor bathroom. We contacted our home warranty and they dispatched the Instant Plumbing provider that covered this area. They located the leak and told us the fix was simple however the issue was access - they cannot access the area without pulling out the shower/bathtub combo and that's not covered by the home warranty. They suggested we engage our home insurance company and mentioned they have a full-service sister restoration company who would be able to do this very quickly (seeing as we literally just took possession of the home) and "not to worry, they would work with us on the insurance deductible" and take care of the full process to restore the bathroom in full working order. Ultimately, we needed this to be resolved ASAP and they mentioned there would need to be coordination between the restoration and actual repair so we were in good hands using them since they could coordinate. We opened the insurance claim and their "sister" restoration company, Thunder and Lightning, came out and discovered water damage in the floor and walls of the bathroom. Suddenly our quick issue escalated quickly. Daniel from Thunder and Lightning was incredibly responsive at that point, checking in almost daily. Then they discovered lead and asbestos. Abatement was needed and completed. After nearly 15K in bills to our insurance company for our 5' x 8' bathroom, we were left with a bathroom ripped to studs. The water leak was now accessible - but no one showed up. Thunder and Lightning DISAPPEARED and left our entire bathroom GUTTED to studs, along with the bathroom/closet shared wall on our lower level. They placed all our bathroom stuff - wood vanity, wood framed mirror, toilet, shower doors, OUTSIDE on the porch - right before a summer rain/thunderstorm event. They literally stopped answering our calls, returning texts, we were calling their main office number and could NEVER get in touch with anyone after over a week of effort. I wish I could start with zero stars My bad reviews is like many others on here I wished I looked up their Yelp before the plumber call them Nothing but frauuuuddd So the plumber reached out to T&L to come check under our sink after our garbage disposal broke and leaked a little. The tech (I'll find his name and update ) no mask or COVID gear (we got charged for his COVID attire) He told us that the plumber would write the report to word it so the insurance company would approve the repairs Kept trying to sell us on we might get a new kitchen. I repeatedly told him I did not want a new kitchen I only wanted if we have the mold fixed so our house was safe for our kids. He swore & promised us that we would have nothing out of pocket Even wanted to talk to the insurance company to make sure we got the claim in. I felt off with this situation & now I wished I listened to myself He did bring in all his equipment and we didn't leave it plugged in he said he had to leave it to make it look like he was doing something there. His words!!! He had to make it look like he was doing work. Over the next few days he randomly showed up without appointments to my house (female) while I was alone at home with my kids I feel very uncomfortable one day when I was driving up saw him waiting in the van just to see me get home alone. Even one day when he rang the doorbell when I got my kids down for a nap I asked him did you text me to let me know that you were coming over and he just said no I just came over. I find this very strange since most company's get an ok and time to come into your home. Finally one day he came to start demo I stopped him knowing we never got an ok yet from our insurance company I asked him & he to my face told me that he got the ok to start. Thankfully I called my husband who called the insurance company who then said no he never gave an ok and to top that never has heard back from his company when our insurance agent reached out After multiple times of him lying to us saying that our insurance company said we could start work I told my husband to call him and cancel and get this equipment that was never used in our house out of our home. Then in December we got a call from a collection agent who informed us they had $3200 worth of charges for work rendered at our home which we explained we have never had any work done nor did we give any approval to have any work done at our home he aggressively told us he was a lawyer who spoke three languages and wanted us to say we weren't going to pay the debt we multiple times told him that fraud was committed and we were willing to pay the initial home call fee which was more than fair but not for work that wasn't rendered at our home since there was no work done. I followed it up calling the company a few more times asking for someone to call me back so we can get this sorted and I could pay the initial home call fee but not for $3200 that was not. There was never work done at our house We surprisingly never got a single call back!!! At this point I'm looking into a police report for fraud & I don't feel safe having the tech know where I live since he randomly showed up. Daniel was our restoration guy. He was very responsive and helpful. He was also very thorough. Even when my insurance company claimed that the 50 pictures he took wasn't enough (so they can try to get us to use their company) he came back and took another 50. He got to work as soon as he was called getting our floors and walls dried out. He was very professional and helpful in dealing with our insurance company. They're front office dealt with my adjuster and every tiny thing she tried to complain about the front office took care of her and resent whatever they claimed they didn't have. What is with the bad reviews?!?! This company is fantastic. Four days before Christmas wake up and find the floor soaking wet! Called a plumber who diagnosed a slab leak. He gave us Thunder and Lightning Services as the people who could help with water mitigation. Ricky came out and within a few hours he had fans set up and the drying process had begun. Very good communication with the company and with the office staff. Four days after thinking what in the world we were going to do the mitigation had been complete and now moving on to the reconstruction phase. FRAUD - DO NOT USE. Read what happened to other Yelpers as well as myself. We hired Thunder & Lightning to repair our water pipe burst. They constantly reiterated that "Nothing will be paid out of pocket" and they would work with State Farm for approval before work begins. They engaged in shady practices - leaving equipment unused over days and asking us not to turn on, removing the tub and walls when unnecessary, asking us "do you need a new carpet". They added ALL of this to a $7000 bill for 1 water pipe. Insurance ended up only approving $1500 and now they are asking us to pay. I have filed a BBB report and will be working with a lawyer to deny their fraudulent claim. read more

We were concerned when we saw the yelp ratings and all the negative comments，but we still decided to give it a try as the plumber recommended this company. They kept telling me all bills will be handled by the insurance company and we do not need to pay anything, that is definitely a lie. If you have already filed a claim with the insurance company, go talk to the insurance adjuster first, don't trust what they say. In addition, they said they will fix all the holes on the wall without additional charge, please note if you need to reconstruct the house, the whole construction is going through with another different company, they call it a sister company, and their quote is also ridiculous. Their work is ok, one technician also pointed out a potential leaking issue for me and I appreciate it. But they didn't do all the cleaning work when they leave and when I pointed out something and want that guy to clean it up, that guy was very unpleasant with me. In addition, I kept asking them to send me the bill before send it to the insurance company but they still sent the bill to the insurance company anyways, and they started to call me almost everyday asking me if I received the check and requested me to pay them, I didn't even see the invoice yet and how can I pay you? After a week, I received the invoice from the insurance company and I noticed their charge is not reasonable as well. I am not sure how many of you checked the invoice from them, I did. They charge something they didn't do and when I questioned it, they said as insurance company approved it already, that means they did it. Lol, they charge almost $500 for plastic sheeting and in the invoice saying they helped cover all the equipment, that's definitely not true and if you go to Home Depot, it will charge you only $14 to buy it. In addition, they also charge more for those drying machines than Home Depot. I pointed out these items to their manager, a woman and that woman insisted that the price is firm and threatened me they will send the bill to collection agency if I don't pay. She also lied to me over the phone and I believe this is their tricks to force you to pay. After multiple negotiations, they ended up giving me a discount and we paid the bill. So what I want to point out is if your insurance has no limit, you can use them, as you only need to pay deductibles. If your insurance has limit, please please please ask the insurance to assign you a company or ask the company to give you a quote before you start. By the way, we actually kept asking them to giving us an estimate price for the whole project before they started the project or even during the project, they kept telling us they don't know, but everything is under control and we don't need to worry. The worst service ever! I wish if there is a Zero rating to describe how horrible is this fake company. Here is the story, Charlie is the owner of the company and he never responds to phone calls, he gives dates for repair and construction and doesn't send anyone, he raises the price every time we talk to him, and he doesn't have workers to do the work. He hired Vincenti who hung up the phone on me when I called to ask when is the work will be done. We hired this company to fix a leak in our house, they spent 8 weeks to fix it and it's still there and the leak issue has not been resolved. We call them now and they don't respond as they got paid. Charlie told my husband that he is sorry that he is not fixing the bathroom as he has a lot of undone jobs and have no workers to do the work. My house is a mess for 9 weeks now and no one is responding to our phone calls. They did a horrible job on our bathroom and didn't fix it. My plumber called Thunder and Lightening after he completed his job because he said I had water damage. I had a claim denied by Allstate before because I had mold, so in an attempt to be pro-active I agreed to have them come out and inspect. Billy, the sales manager called my insurance company, explained the problem and he was given a claim number. They started the work. I trusted them in thinking they were doing what I should have had done a few years back to prevent mold. Well, the insurance adjuster from Allstate came out 7 days later (5 working days) only to assure me that this company should not have demolished my cabinets until she came out. Allstate has dealt with them before and said they are known for demoing before claims adjusters have assessed the claim. I will discuss Allstate on a different page. I called Thunder and Lightening and spoke with Billy, sales rep, he assured me that he sent pictures to Allstate and that they had not viewed them. So two days later I'm told my claim will not be honored because they've had problems with this company numerous times, the company knew better than to demolish the cabinets before the adjuster came out and that I would be responsible for the bill that I was over charged for. When I call back to speak to Billy, sales rep, he's in the field. Apparently this company takes advantage of people who are vulnerable and THINK they will get paid regardless. Well guess what, I'm retired and I depended on them to be honest and do the service according to the damage incurred. Now I'm not getting paid and neither are they. These guys were great! We had a roof leak that got out of hand with all of the recent rain, and had tons of water damage/old. They came out very quickly, and got the equipment running to start drying everything out, and got the roof taped to help stop any further damage. Within a week they had the abatement scheduled and our house should be back to normal soon! WARNING...BEFORE YOU EVEN CONSIDER USING THIS COMPANY, read all the reviews about fraud, overcharging, dishonesty and disappearing without finishing the work after getting paid. I honestly think the good reviews are from friends and family or were paid to leave a positive review. I initially contacted The Plumber for a leak in our garage coming from our second story. They said they had to call out Thunder and Lightning to locate the leak, which I thought was odd to begin with but I'm not a plumber. Both companies, the Plumber and Thunder and Lightning were going back and forth on who was suppose to find the leak. I actually felt like I was the one to have to find the leak and tell them where it was at. Both companies had very bad communication with each other and apparently are suppose to work with each other. Thunder & Lightning cut open my wall and I watched them test my walls for moisture and they said it was very little, however they brought out 4 huge industrial size fans like if they were drying out a mansion and we have a 1,600 sq ft home. The price they charge was incredibly outrageous and I even questioned Travis about the cost and immediately he reduced the price by $1,000, which told me that they were trying to overcharge me in the first place. I told Travis that it's like I'm renting the drying machines and it seems as if he is charging me to purchase them all. They were suppose to remove my vanity and never did. They were suppose to have a reconstruction team come out after plumbing was repaired and never did. They did the least amount possible and billed my insurance and disappeared. They asked me if I wanted a whole new vanity and carpet and I said no and they kept saying my insurance would pay for it. I'm not into fraud so I kept saying No. Even my insurance questioned their bill and didn't pay them right away, they made them resubmit the claim. Thunder and Lightning were not honest, outrageously priced and very poor service. One whole weekend they left a drying machine that didn't even work all weekend and billed my insurance for it. When they came back on Monday and I told them it didn't work all weekend Troy said he would have it serviced and would bring me back another drying machine the next day and got ready to leave while leaving the broken drying machine at my house. So I stopped Troy and said since it's broken and not working can you just take it and get it out of our way and he said he he guesses he could take it. So he takes the broken machine with him and then comes back in my home and he said he just so happened to have a brand new machine in his truck. I believe had I not said anything he would've left the broken machine at our home to be able to bill my insurance even though it wasn't on. Another day they left a drying machine at our home without turning it on yet billed the insurance for it. I was constantly on the phone with Thunder and Lightning office personnel about their poor service and lack of communication with the plumbing company but nothing was done about it. I would ABSOLUTELY NOT NOT NOT recommend Thunder & Lightning to anyone. Was extremely unhappy with all aspects of this company and shame on the Plumber also for calling them in the first place to assist on this leak. Don't Use them! Read what happened to Sharon C. A plumber, sent by Fidelity Home Warranty, said i had a water leak in my slab - a pinpoint leak - they called in T&L to take care of the situation. T&L did not extract any water - Instead they set up lots of drying equipment the next day. Not extracting water created more damage. When I asked Victor Martinez why not. He said there was a large pool of water under the floor. They purposely created more damage.. They also wanted to open up 8 walls in my house, before the Insurance Adjuster came. Victor Martinez insisted that is the way it is done. Fortunately, I caught on before they damaged my house and my health any more. I was without AC and running water for 2 days in 113 degree weather in the Palm Desert area. The plumber, Instant Plumbing, came with his leak detection equipment and two days after the initial visit and said the leak was in the hot water line from my tank in the garage. He was going to re-route those lines and tear apart a shower wall to repair. The leak was in the condensation pipe from the AC! These two companies conspire together to harm unsuspecting seniors. The company really deserves 10 stars! Recently , I had some severe water damage in the kitchen of my new home. After my plumber recommended them to me, I decided to give Thunder and Lightening Services a call and I was not disappointed. Travis and his team were very responsive and I could tell that they genuinely cared about our situation, not just getting paid. I immediately had a sense of comfort with them and hired them to do the job. They were very considerate and clean as they worked which is very important with two small children getting in the way. They started on the job and was quick to get the work started for a leaking toilet whenever you flushed. They were out on Jan 5 w estimates and ready to rock n roll. Im a service member that left jan 4 for training for 6 weeks. My mother was here to let them in on all appointments. After they tore out my bathroom, cut walls and removed flooring from my bedroom, my sons bedroom and just left it there. In the last week of January I had to call them to find out when they will finish the job and tell me that they are outsourcing to a individual that will finish the job. Almost a week and a half lapsed before I called them to find out what's happening. All of a sudden a job that was paid for is no longer a priority. The individual they they outsourced never called me and once I reached out to him tells me it will be at least a week before he could even look at it. It is now Feb 10 and have to hire someone else to finish their job. Im back from field training and 5 weeks later have no home to unwind too. I will make sure every veteran stays away from this company. And yes they took my deductible a thousand in which Im sure I may have to repay after needing to hire a company to finish this fiasco. read more

I had a water leak which I had not noticed until I went to take the trash out into the garage. I am disabled & typing on phones & computers is difficult if not impossible for me to do because of my hands. Just getting basic help or a phone call off to anyone can be a real challenge as per, I live alone & normally require assistance for things like that. Anyway, after the plumber who had tried to locate the leak by punching multiple holes in the ceiling unsuccessfully had given up turned the water off & left , he gave me the business card for these folks to cleanup the water mess & locate the problem in my garage ceiling where the water damage had occurred. They were extremely professional & courteous as they went the extra mile & worked with me to get the problem solved. I cannot say enough good things about Jerry my technician. They've invented the time machine. They restored our water damaged ceiling and it looks like nothing happened at all. Seriously awesome work, super professional and friendly service.
