I am so happy with the work that Thunderbird Design did for us. Russ was a great designer, working from an old set of plans that I had and updating them to my current vision. Our project manager was Blake and he was really good to work with, helping my husband with a few somewhat major sprinkler issues. The daily crew worked so fast and they made sure that everything was as clean as possible at the end of each day. I'm truly amazed at how quickly they accomplished everything. Back in 2017, I had mistakenly thought that the settling had stopped. I was wrong. It continued to progress over the subsequent years. I contacted Thunderbird Design again about it, but they said that because it was out of warranty, they could at best reset the paver stones on top at cost. I did voice my disappointment and in subsequent attempts to follow-up, they ignored me and did not return any of my e-mails or calls. It really irked me, and finally I hired System Pavers to redo the patio. The attached photos were taken just before and during the rebuild to show the sorry state of the patio after several years of settling. I also took further photos of the underlying fill dirt behind the retaining wall to show further by how much the fill dirt had settled so far. The workers also noted that the fill had not been properly compacted, which is probably why there was ongoing settling issues over the years. The retaining walls were also crooked and had to be reset. For this reason, my final rating for Thunderbird Design is 1 star. read more

Russell was very knowledgeable, but there was a total disconnect between him and the workers. So things didn't get installed like Russell designed. Our entry way was our #1 priority, it looks awful and nothing like Russell designed. We also had a decent number of plants that didn't survive, they did replace them, but every single one of the warranty plants died. The warranty plants aren't on warranty, so we were just screwed. Russell offered to fix things at our expense after already paying him $30K, we chose to have someone else do the work. Bottom line is we were very disappointed with there work. Thunderbird Designs just completed a full yard xeriscape design and installation for the large yard at our residence. Their ambitious design and technical expertise were able to turn our landscape dreams into a reality. I really could not recommend them more. We had a thoroughly positive experience through all stages of the process: from initial conceptualization to design, detailed estimates to transparent billing and administration, overhaul of original yard to meticulous installation of xeriscape (including plants, raised beds and drip irrigation system), and finally in ensuring all deliverables were completed within projected time and budget. We did our homework too: we compiled a list of 15 xeriscape companies that operate in the Denver metro area, whittled it down to 4 companies for quotes, and had no difficulty in the end in opting for Thunderbird. While it was an expensive project to undertake, Thunderbird's pricing was the most competitive of the lot. Finally, we send our great appreciation to Dustin for his design genius and fielding of our many questions, to Amber for her efficient work on the administrative side, to Adam for overseeing the management of the project, and to our very capable and extremely hard-working team of Santiago, Juan, Fernando, and Felipe (we marveled at their expertise, speed, and graciousness on a daily basis!). Thunderbird Design did a fantastic job on my $24k landscaping redesign....front and back yards, completed last year, in June. The crew was very diligent, conscientious, and tedious in their labor. I could not have been more pleased! I have done build-outs nation-wide and am kind of picky, but they earned this praise. BUT! I am EVEN MORE pleased that, with the winter passing, some of the plants did not make it through the season. There were no qualms about honoring the warranty on the plants from Thunderbird. I was VERY impressed doing business with Dustin. No, whoa, go, or slow. Dustin readily honored his warranty, no messing around, and again he sent a very professional crew out to do the plant warranty replacement. All the landscaping looks WONDERFUL! Fabulous company!!! We hired Thunderbird to replace front and back lawn areas with a perennial garden. We talked with several other providers and decided on Thunderbird. Are we ever delighted we did!!! We met with Dustin and he provided a plan in a very timely manner. We agreed, and from the start we were happily surprised with every facet of the project. The crew arrived when we were told they would. They worked every day from 7 a.m. to after 6 p.m. They cleaned up every evening before they left. They were fast, careful, and professional. We have THE MOST beautiful garden ever!!! Two months after we had the garden installed, we decided to have Thunderbird build a pergola over our patio. Once again, the result is outstanding and the work was started and completed as they said it would be. We are so happy we found Thunderbird. Hired Thunderbird (Dustin) for a small project finished spring 2016 and it went badly. He's good to respond quickly but bad when it comes to landscape work and doing things right. I'm not sure someone in there 20s is who you want with your seven thousand dollar project in my opinion everyone here is too young and ineexperienced and just doesnt know how to do these projects. I had them lay sod and pavers and it was a disaster. My neighbor used them in 2015 to put in sprinklers and recommended them to me, only to need a grand in repair work done to correct their bad job this summer. we both regert using them greatly. Overall frustrating experience We hired Thunderbird for a small backyard patio job. Rip out an old wood deck and install a flagstone patio. We had discussed having the crew replace an old wood arbor with a new metal arbor for a mature grape vine. We asked that this portion be added to the contract and were told they would take care of it and it was such a small thing that they didn't feel it necessary to add it to the contract. The crew came, installed the new patio and did not install the new arbor. The portion of the new patio where the arbor would span is too wide to accommodate the arbor. We have reached out to them to see about returning to fix this issue and were told that we would be put on the warranty schedule and have not heard from them since. This was a small job that seemed pretty straightforward. The communication was great during the sales process but non-existent once the work started. We would not recommend Thunderbird Landscaping. read more

I had my backyard relandscaped this summer. Russell was the designer, and I found that he listened to what I wanted and was knowledgeable (although he knew that the yard faced south and got a lot of sun, but had a clematis planted that got fried, and when he came back he noted that it needed to have shaded "feet," and a new vine had to be planted with other plants at its feet which hadn't been part of the initial design. In addition, honeysuckle was planted along a fence without trellises, and I am still waiting to see if it will climb the fence). My major complaint is a lack of good communication. Amber, the office manager, would tell me when she expected the crew to arrive, but it wasn't always accurate. The crew spoke limited English, and when I had a question or concern that would have been better to get answered immediately while they were working, I could not contact the project manager (he told me that he was managing a number of projects, it would be better to contact the landscape designer, and would not give me any contact information for himself). The crew worked very hard in sunny, hot conditions. The yard looks good, although the process to get it that way took longer and was more involved than I had expected. There are several dead plants that Russell has said will be replaced next spring at no cost to me (plants that died this summer were also replaced at no cost to me). The cost estimate was reasonable (I talked with three other landscape design companies), and I'm looking forward to seeing how everything looks when the plants and trees are more established. read more

This was the first (and only) home improvement project that didn't give me night sweats and anxiety. As a matter of fact, it was quite the opposite. The team at Thunderbird were so easy to work with. Horrible people to deal with, never use this company! My Nieghbor was having this company do work for her. They needed to run an additional water to a zone in her font yard. My wife and I were both home at the time and the crew who spoke little English decided to run the line under the concrete border separating the property lines. Without even a word, the crew comes onto our property, removes our landscape fabric fabric and rocks to run a water line, belonging to my Nieghbor through my yard. We let our neighbor know and she thinks they will move it but I s not sure. She contacts the foreman who was supposed to come talk to me but he never does. The next morning I call and speak to the office manager. She tells me that the foreman will call me back. Meanwhile the crew member on site gets two calls I over hear from the foreman about the water line. At no time does the foreman call me back to speak to me about the issue. I call the office manager back and ask her why thunderbird design thinks it's ok to come onto someone else's property and run water lines that belong to someone else? I also ask her why it's ok that thunderbird design feels like they can come onto someone else's property and damage the existing landscape? She has no as swear other than to tell me that she is not on site, and that they are trying to communicate with me when I have been the only person making any effort to communicate. After all is said and done the owner Adam calls my neighbor to tell her that they have no intention of calling me and that everything was taken care of! The thing that gets me the most is that I am a reasonable person. If someone had spoken to me about the water line and explained the issues, I would of had no problem with them running the line in the location they had choosen. I would never have gone even this far had the foreman called and given me two minutes of his time to explain the situation, apologize and tell me that they were going to make it right. As a professional firefighter, I would not recommend working with a company that lacks ethical and moral standards. There are too many other companies that will do the honorable thing and make sure that the work they preform is of a high standard. read more
