As a Jesuit institution I was very impressed with their inclusivity as well as the amazing credentials of the teaching staff. They are able enforce rules that the public school system is sorely lacking. My oldest son learned so much from his teachers and developed a passion for engineering through work at the "IC" which is innovation commons. He learned to 3-D print, program and loved the remote control club. This launched him into a career in aeronautical engineering. My younger son took enough AP courses that he is almost a year ahead and will be able to triple major as a result at Syracuse University. The dean, President and staff are so supportive. Their mission programs are also a unique offering that is life changing. My older son went on a mission to Peru that changed his life! It was hard work physically, but I was most impressed by the attitude change. He learned a lot about himself and the world around him. He returned grateful, no longer a picky eater, and with a servants heart. At Brophy they truly strive and help develop Men for Others.

Hi! My name is Betty. I currently go to NSAA. This school is perfect for me, but I have .. issues…read more Firstly, like most other reviews, the Dean. She has suppressed countless extremely dangerous issues, such as one specific student who I will not name. He is an active danger to literally everyone. Everyone. This student is violent, abusive, and I find myself scared of my own safety when I'm around him. One of my closest friends was one of his victims. She is one of the strongest girls I know; it makes me sick when I think about how he violated her, stripping her of all autonomy. There are several other problems -- cough cough, Mrs. Parker -- cough cough. Yeesh. NSAA is seriously a wonderful school, but I am scared for my life most days.

My daughter attended NSAA from 2016 - 2020. While she has been out of the program for a few years,…read moreas she is processing her CPTSD we are only just learning the extent of what she endured at this school. First, I'll address--as others have--the disregard for student safety. The security is lax, the teachers and students spread among multiple buildings with only text communications between administrators. In an emergency situation, this would cost lives. Further, there is no nurse or medical support on site. The lockdown procedures were traumatizing in and of themselves. Years later, our daughter still has nightmares regarding these events. The biggest safety concern, however, is the administration. Our child, whose passion is art, attended Ms. Parker's drawing class. This teacher singled out certain students to bully. If others stood up to her, they were punished or added to Parker's naughty list. Parker also belittled students' art: critiquing styles that drew inspiration from other media; or simply telling students, "It's wrong," or "do better" without any direction as to what was wrong or how to address it. Our daughter wanted to give up art. This was conveyed to the Dean and the teacher, however, nothing changed. The most egregious issues involved the ESS program--a system for neurodivergent students. Our autistic daughter was evaluated and placed into the ESS program under the direction of J. Silva. Over the course of many years, Mr. Silva ignored our IEP guidelines by pursuing ABA therapy even though we repeatedly refused it. He also pushed us to utilize an Autism center that not only promotes/uses ABA, but one that Silva also had a personal/financial stake in. He constantly said that he cared about our child but he couldn't be bothered to say her name correctly. Much of my daughter's trauma stems from a mishandling of the most severe issue we experienced with NSAA. An older female student began stalking our child, including following her to the bathroom and peeking in on her while she was in the stall. When this was brought to Silva and the Dean herself, I was told the other student and their parents would be notified. When I asked how this was not in violation of the school's sexual harassment code, I was told nothing could be done. We insisted that the stalker (also in the ESS program) NOT be placed in classes, testing rooms, or therapy with our child. We were ignored multiple times. The stalker was not only allowed to spend the entirety of testing trying to pass notes to or interrupt our child, Silva (acting as proctor) this acceptable, he tried to turn it into a teaching moment that my daughter could use to "show grace." The problems only continued. The stalker was put into therapy with my daughter. When she--understandably--did not handle these sessions well, the "therapist" would use our child as a "teachable moment" for the other student in how not to respond--but only after both the therapist and student laughed at her. NONE of what happened in these sessions was relayed to us by Silva or others and our daughter was acting as traumatized children do: being silent for fear of retaliation. As we navigate our daughter's mental health journey, we have been informed that not only was Silva/NSAA unethical in their handling of neurodivergent needs, some of these actions are quite illegal. TLDR: My daughter has CPTSD due to her time at this school. None of it had to happen, and now her life is irrevocably changed. The people at this school who are supposed to care for these students do not. While there are teachers who are gems of human beings who truly care about the kids, the administration does not have your child's best interests at heart. NOTE TO PARENTS: Be the squeaky wheel. Stand up for your kid. Loudly.

Police pointing guns at students, drug epidemic, teachers assaulting children, terrible staff,…read moremissing stall doors, unsanitary... the list goes on. The worst high school I've ever seen, and I whole-heartedly regret sending one of my children there. Any other school is a better option compared to this. I've seen multiple videos of students selling marijuana, mushrooms, and nicotine (products) in classes and the teachers are completely oblivious. Forcing every student to have a Chromebook with spyware on them, even if they had their own computers, was incredibly stupid. My child now had to carry around an extra computer constantly... Teacher stole and refused to give a fidget toy to my child, and then got mad at them when they couldn't concentrate anymore... He has diagnosed ADHD. From what I've heard and photos I've seen, the entire campus is extremely unsanitary and the janitors don't do anything about it. Feces covering the walls and floors, litter everywhere. School will refuse to give children lunch if they're just a few dollars under, letting them be hungry for no reason. Won't let students get food off campus, regardless of how old they are. Even the food they do serve is extremely low quality and unhealthy. There's been at least 2 instances (That are proven and I've heard of/seen videos of) of teachers physically assaulting students. They're lucky it wasn't my child or they wouldn't have made it home that day. They once closed down the whole school because a kid jumped over a gate that should've been opened at the time, because they had a Chromebook charger (that they forced them to have) and thought it was a gun. Multiple armed police were then sent to "evacuate" random classrooms... which consisted of pointing a gun at innocent children and screaming at them. Besides a few anomalies, the entire staff here is stuck up and power hungry. They're always on some power trip wanting to needlessly punish and harass students that are completely innocent and even lie to us about things that have happened. My child's friend had a situation where they sent an email home lying about things the student did in an interaction, but the student secretly recorded the entire thing. The teachers and staff love to exaggerate and make up fake details about every little thing in order to feel better about it their sad life as an underpaid employee that probably just got the job because they like telling people what to do...

On April 2nd 2026, and the 9th 2026 my daughter was assaulted by another girl at this school. Each…read moreattack was by a separate individual. The second attack was so severe that my daughter was transported to the hospital via ambulance. She had her head smashed against the concrete that resulted in a concussion by this girl, and multiple bruises to her face and shoulders. The school, after the first attack did nothing to prevent the second attack. When I asked them what precautions will be taken if my daughter returned to their school after this second attack, I was told she could use the nurses bathroom since the first attack took place in the women's bathroom, and that she could eat lunch in the office or somewhere that they designated since the second attack took place while she was at lunch in the courtyard. The girl who more severely assaulted my daughter on the second attack was withdrawn from the school. I found out that apparently this girl had been expelled from another school for fighting and that she'd already been in several fights that year at Moon valley and was on a contract for fighting so they knew she was volatile and dangerous and still did nothing to take any type of precautions with other people's students. They just allowed her to roam free..... The hospital visit alone cost me $1,400, I haven't seen the bill yet for the ambulance ride, nor have I seen the bill yet for the specialist who is supposed to be her follow-up for the concussion. Drugs and alcohol are also rampant in this school, they are bought and sold by students. When I had photo evidence of these individuals selling and buying drugs, and using alcohol on campus I brought it to the attention of the assistant principal and the campus officer and they did nothing with that. Also told the campus officer when my daughter was assaulted the second time that I wanted to file charges and I'm pretty sure I was given a bogus report number because when I went back to look up the status of my daughter's case the report number he gave me kept coming back could not be found. There's going to be a lawsuit on their hands if this isn't taken seriously and handled it a befitting manager and taken seriously with implementating some sort of safeguard so my daughter can finish out the rest of her year and then transfer her out..... Worst school any of my four children have attended and I would not recommend it to anybody if they value their children's safety. And when I tell you it's worse than Glendale School District I mean it. I regret moving so that she had to attend this district/school.

Moon Valley High School Theatre under the leadership of Ms. Razor and Mr. Peters has welcomed my children. The AP classes have also been great in imparting excellent strategies. Our one criticism is that the 6 day block does not allow our kids to participate in multiple special areas like band, choir, dance, culinary and theatre. Our family was used to an 8 period block. Having to choose one or two special interests has been heart-rending for our students. Overall, we are thankful for Moon Valley.

Despite the team at this school seeing and hearing the fear in her voice (she couldn't breath...she was in horror and terrified), they refused to switch her out of the class with a bully. Mind you, this school has kids in sections all day. You are with the same group all day. Instead of switching her out of class, they insisted for a month, that forcing her to go to class would help. After 9 days of my daughter in horror of sitting in class all day with this child, I encouraged her to go (per their request). Day one of returning, this bully would not leave my daughter alone and shoved her. The team there says it never happened. They claimed to review cameras and that this never happened. This happened to other parents, and they refuse to provide evidence for parents to see. Meanwhile I have been able to provide a steady stream of evidence to the school, and they claim it's false. The PD has also shared this school has been made aware of this issue from a handful of parents. I've never heard my daughter cry in such fear before. Since they still refused to switch her out of the class, I brought her in so they can face her so they can say to her face (hyperventilating, crying and in terror) and say to her face that she is "lying". They all said they were "busy" twice while I waited. Not one person in their large leadership team could come out. This school took 30 days of inaction and has accused my child and my family of lying. This experience has been beyond traumatic for our child and our family. I am very disappointed in Great Hearts with how this has been handled. The leadership has been rude and condescending during this whole experience. I am telling everyone I know to avoid Great Hearts. They do not stand by their mission and values. Avoid this school at all costs.
