Ok, so I generally don't like leaving reviews, but I am quite disappointed with this company. I scheduled an appointment for one of the electricians to come out at earlier this week as we are having power issues supplying our laundry vent. We got a call about an hour prior to the appointment time saying the electrician was on their way. Great. However, he never showed up. I called the company to see what's going, and I was told they would call the electrician, then call me back. Over 30 min later, no call, and it's 5 minutes prior to close. I called again and finally the electrician called me back and gave me a 100 excuses and rescheduled the appointment to today. Well, here we are, over an hour past the appointment time, and he didn't show up, no calls, no messages, nothing. I would be wary doing business with a company that has this kind of an issue TWICE in a row. read more

Didn't even decide to hire. Had a very straightforward job with several outlets that needed replaced and the woman answering the phone was rude and very vague about how much it would cost. I'm sorry, but a range of $130-500 for time and not knowing the cost of something as simple as a replacement outlet is unacceptable. read more

I had a light in my bedroom that wasn't working so i called those people that have those magnets on the phone books, A+. When they came out to look at the light, they said that there was somthing wrong with my breaker box and that the whole thing needed to be replaced. I check around online and found out that they were scammers so I called thurston electric to get a second opinion and found out it was just a bad breaker. they came out and fixed it in no time. saved me alot of money, would recommend! read more

When it comes to electricity I lose the thread of the positive to negative charges which usually comes accompanied by a visually disturbing but very minor shock. I'd rather not disturb the circuitry. Had an issue that I thought was a fuse/breaker type of issue. A zone of recessed lights (4 lights to be exact) would not turn on at all. I unscrewed each light bulb and tested the sockets with a live bulb. The bulb never went on. I knew it was something either behind the wall or with the fuse/breaker. I called around to several of the top 20 rated Yelp posts under the search "electrician". 3 our of the seven I called had lower prices than the others but two out of the remaining 3 had availability/scheduling issues and visit to the house talk to ya up/estimate fee. Thurston sent out a dude by the name of Dave, who was prompt, kind and super knowledgeable. He quickly identified the issue as an arcing between wires behind the switch panel on the wall. He fixed the problem within 10-15 minutes. Can't speak for the rest of the electricians in their company but Dave knew what he was doing and wasn't BS'ing around (shooting the breeze while fixing the problem is more his more his style) and if the rest or any of the other electricians in the company are as knowledgeable, skilled and cool as he then I would gladly look to a Thurston Electric again if I had any issues. BTW I think this is, like, my 1st or 2nd review on Yelp. I just typically do not use social media. I am by no means aligned with Thurston in any other way than I randomly picked several out of the top 20. But I think the job Dave did was exceptional I was pleased and lights are still able to be turned on. read more

We had problems with our baseboard heaters. We called Thurston Electric after we got an estimate from another firm. Thurston fixed the problem for less than the "diagnosis" cost alone in the other estimate, and for hundreds less than the full other estimate. Not only was the work done right and with less cost, Rusty, the Thurston electrician, explained what he was doing, why, and how we could avoid future repairs and how to deal with them. Rusty was respectful, listened to our concerns, and earned our confidence and respect. Thurston (and Rusty) is our "go to" electrician from now on. read more

I regret making the rushed decision to go with this company. However let me start by stating the positives... I chose them for my very small project of relocating two light switches (I had the two switches for two rooms both in one of the rooms and behind the door, it was that way when we moved in and they are my kids rooms... and they had gotten old enough it frustrated them), and I chose them purely based on the fact they were great about availability. They scheduled to do the work the next business day which was wonderful. Then on top of that the work it's self was only 1 hour and 13 minutes from the moment the tech pulled into our driveway to the moment he pulled out. Now to the reason I stared the review how I did. I am what would be considered new to working with contractors of any kind (growing up I had a "Do It Yourself" kind of father and this was my first project not asking him for help) and my first experience which was with Thurston Electric LLC has made me scared to ever hire a professional again. My husband and I have 3 kids and we were hesitant to do this project to start with because like with so many young families money is tight. I called and spoke with the woman in the office to get as much detail as I could about cost (expecting them to do a bid) but was told as it was such a basic project there would be no bid, it would be $99 per hour of work, and cost of the materials. With my basic knowledge I assumed materials would be 2 switches, 2 covers, 2 boxes, a cover for the hole, and wire to relocate. I provided all but the boxes, hole cover, and wire. Now because of that I assumed materials would be 20-30 maximum? When I was still a little hesitant and mentioned the other company I was planning to talk to Mr. Electric, she stated they are known to skip getting permits so the work causes problems later if there is home sale or anything but that was all she mentioned about permits which I didnt know anything about... I assumed that was something to do with the tech that does the work like licensing... The Electrical Technician was here for 1 hour and 13 minutes from the moment he pulled into our drive way to the moment he pulled out. When he left he told me "they will probably call you or something with the bill because I am not sure how they do the numbers for this (pointing back down the hall where he did the work)" At that moment I was satisfied... That was until I received the bill... Materials used to complete the job: $63.62 Service Call / Labor cost per hour quantity 2.5: $247.50 Permit for work performed and/or Discounts quantity 1: $59.50 Tax: $27.38 Total: $398.00 Now thinking about all I said. I knew nothing about the permit... That was $60 I didnt expect! When I talked to that same woman she explained it away but what I am upset about is I was not informed because that was $60 I couldnt afford. Then over $60 for "Materials used to complete the job" when I expected maybe 20-30... I was so upset and asked for a breakdown of "Materials used to complete the job" as that is such a vague category. The only explanation she provided was that WA state law required a special breaker be installed (I think she said it was called an Apex) and that was a majority of the cost... Why would I not be told something like this as that is a notable thing to mention to someone they need to pay for. I didnt know they would mess with my breaker box at all (except for to cut off power to do the wiring) let alone replace the breaker without my knowledge... Then of course the fact the invoice claims 2.5 hours! Luckily she revised that part to 1.5 hours since I was 13 minutes over the 1 hour mark and they only do half hour increments. Her explanation for that was because "we were probably more than 20 minutes away and they charge for drive time" she fixed it but even so that didnt make sense as we are 17 minutes (13.7 miles) from their address.... Each single thing on it's own I would have just brushed off... but all of it together... and the fact that the office woman who I spoke with each time I contacted the company acted like the company and herself did nothing unethical (or at least in my opinion came off that way)... Thurston Electric LLC left me as someone who no longer could trust a professional contractor company and would not recommend them to anyone. Though I will say again the work was completed well and in a timely manner so maybe if you are very careful and have everything cost wise in writing? I dont know I just know if I could go back in time to the day I made the appointment... I would do things oh so very differently. read more

Called to request an electrician, as we had outlets in the living room and a bedroom not functioning. I explained that the circuit breaker was not tripped but we reset it, as well as the main breaker anyway, just in case, but the outlets still were not functioning. As soon as April asked if there was GFI outlet, the "lightbulb came on" and both my landlady and I remembered, from about 5 yrs previously, the GFI outlet just outside the sliding glass door had tripped. Low and behold, she checked, and it was tripped again. Thank you April, for not only saving us a service call, but for also being willing to help so pleasantly and courteously, despite you losing a service call. We will remember Thurston Electric when we truly WILL need an electrician. read more

Pricier than I hoped but substantially less than other options. A fine young man J.C.S. was at my house an hour after I called and worked conscientiously until he found a truly elusive problem. He eliminated every possible faulty option through great effort and concentration. My family found this business to be arrogant and overpriced. The owner is abrasive and dismissive of our needs to fix our electrical problems. They treat you like you work for them , so we found another contractor. read more

We were under contract in selling our home and needed a couple simple things done by a professional. Two guys came out, one being an apprentice, and they worked efficiently and got the job done in just under 45 minutes. After they walked out the door I looked more closely at the work order/bill and noticed that they were down that they were there for an hour and a half. I ould have understood that seeing as there were two of them BUT they charged me for both of them being there for 1.5 hours at each of their individual rates. You see they had me write a check on the spot. I immediately called the office and spoke with the office lady and at that time ot still had not even been an hour and they were already gone. I understood that there was probably a minimum bill time of an hour. I was correct, and she said when the men got in she would hold the check and talk to them and I could write a new one, she would call me. She never did. I called several times in the next few days and kept getting the wring around by both her and the manager, and I believe the owner. They cashed my check and never once called me back as they kept saying g another person would give me a call. This company admitted they did wrong but still owe me $130. read more

I had Thurston Electric come out and change out my breaker box yesterday. Guess I had one of those old fire starter panels. Anyways The tech that came out, think his name was Shane, was very professional and neat. Did great work and cleaned up when he was done. Got it done fast cause I hate being out of power and explained what he installed in terms i could understand. The company was good priced and made sure I was taken care of and the owner is friendly. Would recommend these guys to my closest friends and family. read more

If I could rate them -10 stars, I would! After SIX WEEKS of being put off and waiting for an estimate, I give up and will look for another electrician. If this is what their customer service on the front end is like, I can only imagine what their work and customer service after the work is done is like. It all stared SIX weeks ago (week before Thanksgiving). I called because I blew a circuit in my living room, which is also the circuit to 3 bedrooms. The circuit breaker wasn't triggered so it was more than I could easily fix. I was told the girl who does the scheduling was out running errands and would call me back. Six hours later, nothing.. .so I called again... she said she never got the message. Got an appointment for an electrician to come out the following Monday at 10AM. The following Monday I called at 11AM because he didn't show up. I was told they wrote down the wrong address and "lost" my phone number. Gave it to them again and he showed up. Checked everything out and said they'd call the next day with an estimate for putting the living room, the garage, and the bedrooms on their own circuit. The following Wednesday I hadn't heard anything so called again. I was told they are super busy and they have 15 quotes to write and they'd do mine in the next day or so. FOUR WEEKS later after going through Thanksgiving, Christmas, and having to tell out of town guests I couldn't host them... they called. I assumed to give me an estimate. WRONG!!!! They said they were calling to schedule an electrician to come out and look it over so they could do an estimate. I said... YOU ALREADY WERE OUT HERE! I've been waiting SIX WEEKS for an estimate. "Oh, really?" Was their reply. Said they'd get an estimate to me. Still.. nothing. I give up on this place. Time to call a RELIABLE electrician. My advice.. don't bother with this place! read more
