The inn is filled w/ pioneer spirit of a long-ago and can-do farmer who crafted a beautiful home on the edge of a small lake. If you want to sleep under crisp sheets, curl up in an after-bath (FL-weight) robe and enjoy a beautiful breakfast in a lovely restored dining room, this is a must-do property. I indulged in daily late afternoon naps on the 2nd floor screened porch, perched among the canopies of huge Live Oaks-forest bathing at its finest! Fear not! As a gift from our children in honor of our 50th anniversary, my husband and I stayed overnight at the Thurston House for two nights in September 2024. The minute we drove onto the grounds, we knew we were in for a lovely weekend. Large live oaks shaded a beautiful building. Beverly, the owner, greeted us warmly and showed us to a beautifully appointed room with a canopy bed, a fireplace, an old fashioned tub and lovely paintings/decorations. The breakfasts served both days were amazing. We were a short drive to downtown Winter Park, which offers restaurants, shopping, and a great boat ride. This is by far the best, most serene, and relaxing place. Beverly the inn keeper was the best host and excellent cook. Breakfast was bountiful and delish. She arranged for a massage in house and it was wonderful. We had the Hirsch room with the sleeping porch which was so relaxing especially in the rain. I stayed at the Thurston House for a work retreat and had a wonderful time! A great location and perfect setting for a small work retreat rather than a sterile office environment. The historic home is perfectly maintained and the rooms were just beautiful, I walked to Lilly lake each morning and then returned to a delicious breakfast. Beverly is a wonderful host and stayed up late to greet us upon arrival when our plane was delayed. She truly cares about the experience of her customers and loves what she does managing the B&B. read more

I must begin by sharing I am a retired Executive with Marriott/Ritz-Carlton. Therefore, I have very high expectations when traveling. Simply put, my family and I love this B&B. Beverly was so welcoming from the minute we stepped foot on the property. My in-laws and father (all in their 80s) and my two daughters' in there 20's, were obsessed with the decor and wraparound porch. There was so much history that Innkeeper Beverly Fuller shared with us as Thurston House was built in 1885 and then completely restored in the 90s and kept immaculately. We all fell head over heels in love with this property, from the ambiance to the F & B, to the warmth of Beverly's genuine southern hospitality. The moment she greeted us ‑ we were charmed. We could not have asked for a better location. It was minutes from Park Ave in Winter Park and the iconic Rollins College, where my daughter happened to be graduating from the weekend we stayed. It was also Mother's Day weekend, and I could not get a reservation outside for a large party; Beverly offered to host us at Thurston House. She worked with me in advance on a personalized menu, floral arrangements & more, which were displayed in a five-star fashion. Beverly is an exceptional cook, has excellent attention to detail, and how she does all of it by herself was a mystery to all of us. Everything was spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished. My husband and I stayed one extra night for some needed respite and renewal. Beverly created a delightful stay for us. Overall, a wonderful place; we will stay here again and recommend it highly. We all left feeling we had discovered a new perspective on B & B travel. Thurston House is truly a breathtaking destination for just a weekend get-away or the perfect venue for a small gathering or special occasion. Thurston House BB, was a really nice experience for me a nuvi of Bed and Breakfasts. I love the style of this home, the furnishings the care takers the porches the food. Every detail is exactly what I had expected and some surpassed such as the rubber ducky. Sorry I had to mention it. The Hirsch room was beautifully furnished with antiques and hand crochet doilies. The Breakfast served to us on the main dining room, which features a built in server, and four antique sets of tables and chairs, the food was incredible. I was sure the Carole is a master chef. Our first morning we were served peach soup, French Toast ala orange, Spicy bacon, banana nut bread, coffee and juice. On the second day, Rosemary scrambled eggs, biscuits, sausage, and quiwi - coconut soup. All of it great. The details are impressive, like the five pm, wine and cheese to the Peach liquor on your night stand for a night cap. The many, many pictures and paintings of the house, through the house. The wrap around screened in porches is great to relax on long hot afternoons. Our experience in the Thurston House BB was unforgettable. One we will can only hope to experience again. read more

We had a wonderful stay at this bed and breakfast. Carol and Joe were warm and welcoming. The house was beautifully furnished and had hardwood floors. Breakfast was delicious, Carol is very accommodating of food sensitivities. The couple next to us was vegan, I'm dairy free, my husband eats everything. Maitland is a quaint town with several nice lakes with walking paths and museums. read more

"Paradise in Central Florida" I have been coming here for nearly 20 years and thoroughly recommend this incredible bed & breakfast. When visiting the Orlando area for business or pleasure, this is the only place I will consider staying. It's all the little extras that Carole puts in that make this home away from home truly extraordinary. The home itself is exquisite, beautiful surroundings, incredible porch (I've fallen asleep there), wonderful sitting room/library, comfortable beds (an insomniacs dream) and a nice desk to work on. Then, it gets better! A breakfast fit for a King and with any dietary condition. You walk away feeling refreshed and wanting to come back again and soon. The best breakfast my wife and I have ever had. Dairy free banana bread for me, gluten free blueberry muffins for her. Nitrate-free bacon for her. Regular bacon for me. And the best bacon ever. And the eggs! A sort of pastry-like shape wrapped in zucchini. Place has just 3 rooms, intimate, on grounds off a lake with a cool breeze in the evenings, a gracious hostess, a historic house, a central location but just off the road and quiet. This was a great place to stay. The inn is lovely and the proprietors were very friendly. We had fruit salad, eggs florentine and Irish soda bread for breakfast - ALL homemade. My husband bought a deal from living social for thurston house for a weekend getaway. The original weekend we planned had to be postponed due to a medical emergency. The next weekend we planned was also something we couldnt do, so we ended up paying full price of 250.00 a night. she was unwilling to work with us, saying the original deal had February blacked out and the inn was almost sold out. out. upon arrivng on Friday she mentioned that we would have the place to ourselves that night but it was full for Saturday. turned out we were the only guests. that was a little disappointing as we like to meet new people wherever we go. The house was beautiful and well kept. We were not big fans of the food as we like a breakfast that is not so fussy. We told that to carol on saturday night but sunday was another overly sweet and rich breakfast. Although carol went out of her way with birthday cupcakes in the room and a candle in my muffin at breakfast, i would have been more at home at the ritz carlton for that amount of money. read more
