I've been searching for an authentic head spa experience closer to home for ages. Ever since my first hair wash in Vietnam, I was bummed that I couldn't find anything comparable in the States. While there's been a recent boom in Chinese and Thai herbal washes, the closest 'real' spot used to be in Flushing--until I found Thy Hair Salon. They are a fantastic full-service salon (haircuts, color, makeup, you name it), but they've recently added the traditional Vietnamese hair wash to their menu. It literally felt like I'd been transported back to Vietnam! The staff is incredibly kind and the service is a total 10/10. They use traditional ginseng and herbs for the steaming process, and honestly, the scent is much more pleasant and refreshing than the versions I've tried at other spots. the owner and her staff are very funny and make visiting an enjoyable experience. they also offer head washing/massage services. i always do a balayage or just color. my brother gets his perm tightened. their prices are extremely fair especially for being located in the boston area. read more

I went to Thy Hair Salon to change my hair color. Louis was the one who mainly did my hair. The result came out pretty amazing even it was quite not the same as picture I showed. Louis did a good job, tried to accommodate to what I wanted, and also not to look crazy to my job performance. It turns out pretty cool. I like it for the summer time! I went there for waxing my eyebrows for every two weeks. So I saw she has so many customers every time I went there to get waxing. I asked her how much it costs if I want to do ombre. She said "$180" I was so surprised by that. Normally, I got my hair done in Chinatown. Bleaching and changing color would cost me about $450. So I kept asking her if maybe we miscommunicate. The day I was doing this color. It took me about 6-7 hours. She took time to do my hair even it was closing time. I keep going back here to do my treatment and my waxing. Treatment is only $60. They do a really good job with cutting/ styling hair. They helped me cut 14 inches of my pandemic hair that I grew out starting in Fall 2019 for a donation. A good change during the heatwave! I have thick, coarse straight hair. After cutting the donation length, they cut and styled it. They gave me a style that is trendier and current than what I texted a few days before, but I also am open to trying new styles and trusting a stylist. Very reasonably priced.
