So this was my first time needing movers and moving truck, and truly what an amazing experience. I was at a loss of who to go to, and I googled and found this company. They made my move so easy, and an overall amazing experience from start to finish. I spoke with Rusty, who was so kind and very willing to help me. Paid them approximately $3000 to move a one bedroom apartment a mile down the road into a storage facility big enough for a three bedroom house and they still did not complete the job. Work was sloppy and they packed boxes light so they could charge me for extra boxes. They threw my boot boxes into more expensive wardrobe boxes when regular boxes would have sufficed and day two workers were even surprised. Then they gave me the runaround with my claim and stated "that these things happen" and because I signed the waiver was not entitled to any compensation. They charged me for repacking and upcharged me for a third person while I was under the impression that I would be reimbursed through the claim. Will leave a review with the better business bureau. Wish I read the one already there. Have moved all over the world with the military and this is by far the worst, unprofessional experience I have ever had. They took advantage of a desperate situation and I would not recommend them to anyone. My only advice is not to sign any waivers until the job is complete even if they assure you it will be taken care of in the claim. They are unprofessional and untrustworthy. Unfortunately, my wife was a victim of this company who rushes customers into a deposit with no details and thinks they can hide behind 'non-refundable' . They cherry picked a recording from Feb 27th where they mentioned 'non-refundable' to try and prove they are in the right. The purchase wasn't made until March 1st and non refundable wasn't mentioned at the time of deposit. We'll get our money back but make sure you save yours ahead of time and go elsewhere. I used Tidal Town Moving for a move that took place on June 30, 2024, between Richmond and Hampton Roads. Despite the higher prices, I chose this company after extensive research and reading numerous glowing reviews. The booking process was smooth, and they accommodated my tight timeline. On the morning of the move, three gentlemen arrived in a relatively small truck. I expressed my concern about the truck's size to the driver, who seemed confident it was appropriate for the job and assured me everything would fit. After signing the insurance claim forms, they began working. From the start, I noticed issues. After an hour, the truck was only about 20% loaded, while the house was still 90% full. I checked with the supervisor, who reassured me that we could fit everything in, though he admitted it would be tight. As time passed, the truck reached 50-60% capacity, and the supervisor grew concerned, suggesting we might not get everything in. I proposed getting an additional truck, which he agreed with but insisted we continue as planned, providing further reassurance. At this point, the movers were cramming items in and ended up damaging several pieces, including a very expensive standing desk, a bookshelf, a shattered lamp, lost bed hardware, and dropped boxes. I filed a claim for these damages, which I'll address separately. By the end of the move, the truck was packed to 100% capacity. I tried to fit the remaining items in my personal vehicle but couldn't. Despite my suggestions to rent another truck, the movers insisted they couldn't do anything further. Additionally, the movers were ill-equipped--I had to provide water and first-aid supplies after a mover cut himself. With a fully packed car, stressed animals, and a tight timeline, I decided to let the movers finish up and proceed. They arrived at the Hampton Roads location about two hours later. The unloading process was exhausting. The movers needed constant direction and repeatedly asked where each box should go, even though they were labeled. My standing desk was damaged during this time when it was pulled from the truck, revealing that it wasn't fully wrapped in a moving blanket and was scratched from contact with the truck's floor. I expressed my concerns to the supervisor, but he deflected responsibility, blaming the movers' inexperience and distancing himself from the issue. The claims process was equally frustrating. Despite spending over $2,000 on the move and enduring a month of back-and-forth with VA Moving Claims, I was offered only $139 for damages. I denied the claim to be able to leave this review, as stipulated in the contract. Ultimately, I cannot recommend this company. If you find yourself in a bind and have no other options, purchase the most expensive insurance you can afford and hope for the best. read more

I am a local realtor in Hampton Roads so I deal with movers quite often in our area. This company was referred to me by a good friend who is also a realtor in the area. I looked into them and although a newer company, their pricing seemed fair and they were extremely flexible with my move-in date. When setting up the move, I was told that they were going to be providing moving supplies (extra boxes, boxes for the mirror and tv as I told them I needed it, tape, moving blankets, etc) and have a two-man crew with a smaller truck based off of a phone conversation. They didn't want to come and see my house to give me a quote so I assumed everything would be fine. So the day of the move, they show up with the two man crew and the truck. After walking the house with me, they told me that I 100% needed a 3 man crew a bigger truck without a doubt. Without it, It would take them all day. So I called the company to see if they had another person they could send. They pulled someone off of another job and he got there maybe an hour later. This 3rd person was useless....He stayed on his phone the entire time. I was 4 months postpartum and trying to help them move things because of how slow and inefficient they were being. There was only 1 of the 3 movers who was hustling and not on his phone. The other worker was working like it was his literal first day. I could write a novel on how horrible this move was. I ended paying $1,000 more than what they told me it would be. They COULDNT EVEN GET MY HEADBOARD downstairs. They asked me if I knew how to do it.....Like moving was my profession. They spent over an hour try to get it down and ended up damaging the wall trying to get it down and then gave up on it. I had to call my previous movers to come and look and two men were able to get my headboard down in less than 5 minutes no damaging anything else. They had to make two trips because they ran out of room and took the long way to get to the storage unit AKA charging me by the minute. I called the office during the move in tears telling them what I was experiencing and they said a manager would call me....he never did. I asked them not to say anything now because I was scared they were going to intentionally damaging items. My impression was that since they were moving my things into a storage unit, they didn't care about putting my things back together, they didn't care about how my stuff or how it was loaded into the unit. Things were tossed in the unit. The couch was set fabric to the floor with zero protection. Nothing was shrink wrapped. The moving company who unloaded said he didn't believe this was done by a professional moving company. Tidal broke several of my items. Thousands of dollars worth of my items. The broke and scuffed parts of my $2,000 headboard, they drug my $4,000 dresser which is made of all leather and glass **down the stairs** with no protection, broke the glass on the dresser and the back leg of the dresser, they broke my 65 in tv, they scuffed a storage cabinet, they broke a 3 tiered cart, they broke my dining room table chairs, they lost all of the hardware to my dresser, my daughters crib and my bookshelf. Im sure there's honestly more but this was 6 months ago. I submitted two damage claims, one for the moving into the storage unit and one when I moved out and saw all the damages. I have been waiting for a manager to call me for SIX months. Not one phone call. I still haven't received any compensation for all of my broken items. I haven't received an apology. I haven't received anything. I am an extremely level headed person, that's why Ive waited 6 months to write this review but haven't had any resolution. We were excited due to the original movers calling us with a delay the day before the move. When booking the move we hoped everything would go well. When arriving at our move in locatio the unload was not good. One gentleman was taking his time and the other was rushing. They dragged the box spring which damaged the wall. The bedroom dresser less that a year old has knicks from it hitting something. Box marked fragile has dishes broken. The fabric on the frame of the Bedframe kid torn. Wnhen putting the bed back together screws are missing. The cords to the recliner and sofa are missing. We haven't went through everything but it's disappointing to have items damaged or broken. This is the second time I've used Tidal Town Moving and I can't thank them enough for how easy they've made both moves. Tyler and Diego were so professional during my first move that of coarse I had to request them again! Tyler was the only one that was able to come for my move but this time he was working with Jeff who was also just as amazing. Aside from one of the plastic legs on our tv stand breaking, the move was flawless but I appreciate Tyler and Jeff's honesty about the broken leg instead of waiting for me to find it on my own later. They apologized and opened a claim for me even though I insisted it was no big deal. Love the accountability though! Had a decent move w a couple of hiccups. Movers were nice and polite. Unfortunately they dropped my AC Unit out of the third floor window, an accident, and when they put the bed back together they missed a few bolts and screws so I had to go back and redo it. I voiced my complaints to the company and while I had my doubts they reimbursed me for the ac unit and some of the labor. I would recommend taping the drawers shut on large items, the dresser, in the future. All in all it wasn't bad and I thought the prices were reasonable. I'm glad they took care of things because they appear to be a local company and I try and support the little guys first read more

At first they were very respectful and polite. Everything was going great until one of the guys said they were only picking up the heavy stuff so I called the company and they talked to them and that changed or so We thought. We bought them lunch and I brought it out to them at the new house then my husband asked me to go get money to tip them and when I got back to the new house,I asked them if they got everything at the other house and they said yes so I was very relieved. They finished and We did the paperwork and signed along with paying them over $1800 and they asked us to give them a 5 star review right then because they would get a 25% bonus. Once they left, I had to run to Virginia Beach for the closing and my husband went back out to our house to see what we needed to do. They had left so much stuff that it took me and my husband 5 more loads in his truck and my car once I returned from VA Bch. We were so upset because they left soooooo much stuff that wasn't on the list of items they couldn't transport. I recently acquired services from tidal to assist me in moving from a 5 bedroom house to a 3 bedroom apartment. They put a hole in my wall in a house I am set to close on in 2 days. They put the wrong items In storage, then informed the rest of the items I needed to go in storage won't fit. However when I inspected the storage I realized the it didn't fit because things where thrown into the unit with no organization. I am beyond disappointed with the services I received. Whilst the crew is trustworthy and pleasant, the company is very disorganized. I scheduled a packing and move for 6/10. We talked three times and agreed that they would make two stops before making it to my new home. I was also given an arrival window of 11 to 4, only for them to arrive at 4. I was called thirty minutes before arrival and specifically asked why they are stopping at me first, as we had agreed that they would make the other stop first. I was told that all would be fine they would still make the 2nd stop. They arrived without boxes and were only prepared for a move, not packing- even though we agreed to this three times in the 45 days prior. Needless to say ... I freaked out. It was weekend and I needed to move out, so they only moved my big items and I moved the smaller items myself - this cost me ten 25 miles R/T Chesapeake VA to Virginia Beach VA with my own car to complete my move myself. And, the crew had no idea what I was talking about when I talked about the 2nd stop they needed to make. My advise to you: stay clear - they are useless and incompetent.
