We just used 1st Atlantic a 2nd time to come out of storage and again, great job at great rates. What really impressed me was when they put blankets on the handrails going upstairs so as not to mark them up if the bumped them. Highly recommended. First time ever using professional movers and what a difference! Fast, efficient and so worth the money! They dissembled (and later reassembled) our beds and daughters cribs, had all materials to transport our boxes from our apartment in Ghent all the way around the building to their moving truck. I've moved a lot for school and work and my move with Yuri was by far the best. I hope to not be moving for awhile but if I do I'd definitely use them again! Yuri took the time to come to my apartment and assess my needs and give me a quote. It's important to note that there were no hidden fees upon delivery and that the flat rate he gave me was what I ended up paying. I've had movers with hidden fees who did not mention that wrapping pictures and mirrors, etc. would cost extra. Before Yuri arrived on moving day he asked me if I had extra boxes and when I said no he brought his own. He did an excellent job in securely wrapping them. Not one single piece of my belongings was broken which I was pleasantly surprised about because other companies had broken some of my things. Dear Yuri, thank you for your reply. You seem to think my review isn't fair so allow me to clarify a few things. I had our appointment window being 8-9am, so there was a miscommunication. If it was my mistake, I apologize. I agree that you did not say "if it's old/or cheap it's not our fault," which is why I didn't use quotation marks. Rather, those were the excuses you made for everything your men broke or damaged (except for the door, which you tried to minimize). The speaker stands were moved one year earlier and did not break because they were handled with care. That company broke or damaged one item (not six), took responsibility, and offered compensation. They were far more professional and pleasant to deal with than you. I have attached photos of the damages as a visual aid. That we walked through the house three times hoping to find more damage is either a ridiculous lie made up by you (you weren't there) or by your men. I doubt anyone could check everything over before the movers leave, and we didn't bother trying. Moving out of state is a very stressful experience; I would have much preferred if y'all hadn't damaged or broken anything, but the least you can do when you do is take responsibility rather than argue and make excuses. read more

I had a horrible experience with 1st Atlantic Movers in Norfolk. Owner of company and another worker moved us using pods. They worked for the first hour then seemed to work intentionally slowly to increase the hours. They also did not use any of the packaging materials my husband had bought. Many of our wooden pieces ended up scratched or nicked. It is just a constant annoyance I have to endure daily because I called the first company i saw. I also trusted very positive testimonials listed in their website which was not smart on my part. I hope this review can help someone! read more

I had purchased a sofa and loveseat from a local furniture store and had to get it delivered to my place as soon as possible. When I called 1st Atlantic Moving & Storage, the gentleman on the phone worked with me to get my furniture delivered as soon as possible and it was at an affordable price. The two men that helped bring the furniture up to my home were very courteous and kind. They were careful bringing the furniture into my apartment and everything remained in good condition. Yuri and Alex were wonderful! They did a phenomenal job moving my stuff from Newport News to Arlington. They showed up on time, and packed and moved all of my belongings very carefully. They wouldn't allow me to assist at all (I had a habit of picking up a box or two). They didn't take any breaks. They worked hard to ensure that my stuff was disassembled and assembled properly. They are also very honest: there was a slight scratch on a piece of furniture, which they pointed out to me. I scheduled my move with 1st Atlantic using the Yelp service request. It was great! Yuri (the owner) responded within 20 minutes of my message with his rates and suggestions for how many movers and the size truck I would need. When I had further questions, I contacted him through Yelp a few more times and, again, he responded right away. He called me the night before my move to confirm our scheduled time. The movers were great and very efficient. I only had one broken item, which was a picture with glass that I'd left in the floor in a dark hallway and one of the guys stepped on it because he didn't see it (my fault). Otherwise, none of my items were damaged or scratched. It took 6 hours to pack load and unload a 4 bedroom house in a local move. My only issues were that they were about 30 minutes late on arrival, and several of my heavy items (boxes, bags, pictures) that were clearly labeled to go upstairs were left right at the front door. The team leader seemed to get tired/lazy towards the end and he wasn't super friendly. He decided not to help put together a large item that I requested help with and he asked if I wanted them to put my beds back together in an attempt to not have to do it...we had already discussed that they would, and it was also listed in their services to take down and put together beds. He had a bit of an attitude when I required that they finish what they started. However one of the guys was EXTRA helpful and his customer service was on point..he ended up doing a majority of the work at the end. Overall, I definitely recommend 1st Atlantic! read more
