I'm new to San Antonio, and this is the very first dine-in Mexican restaurant I've tried. Just my luck, I found a fantastic new favorite! Came back with my cousin the next day to try it again My first visit, I was greeted by the nicest waitress with a big smile and warm personality. I forgot her name, but look out for her colorful food/animal character pens in her apron. She invited me to pick a seat and gave me a menu. The seating area is spacious, sparkling clean, with 2 mounted TVs. While I was browsing, she brought fresh chips w/salsa. I ordered the carne al pastor combo plate w/corn tortillas. I waited less than 10 mins for my food. The meat was so juicy and well-seasoned, and my plate came with rice, bean soup, and small salad. So delicious, and the serving was generous. My second visit w/my cousin: They got the ribeye steak entree plate (same side offerings). The steak was made to the temperature they requested, and so juicy! I had the fajitas flameadas parillada plate, which was sautéed beef and onions, with melted Monterey jack cheese and a grilled jalapeño on top. Served with rice, beans, tortillas, and guacamole on the side. Totally worth the price and had plenty of leftovers the next day. Found right next to a gas station, don't pass up this location if you're looking for a new place to try. One of the staff said they'd been open about 8 months, and I'm betting they'll be seeing many new regulars to enjoy their delicious menu in the near future. read more

I came here with a large party after a church event. I wasn't too hungry for some reason (actually no I had eggs for breakfast thats why) so I decided to get a dish that didn't come with the usual rice and beans. I ordered a bean and nopales torta. It was okay I've had better because the pan was not toasted. I enjoyed my horchata and the company though so that makes up for it! Ok so my wife and I have been coming to this restaurant for a while. The food is amazing like always but today I'm going to give 3 stars just because the service was not as great as it has been . My wife order a torta of pierna and she for the meet to be well done the waitress took our order and when the torta came the meat was not so we send it back . Then the manager Berenice came and told us first " that since we have not told the waitress from the beginning that does the reason why it was not done right which there is a cámara above our table that recorded the conversation which we clarify that we did say it . Then her come back was " that it was very busy and that when is busy its impossible to make our order the way we want our order . I have not ever heard that in a restaurant to the point that now I feel like I should call and find out if there not busy so we can go and eat and have our order made the way we like it . I feel that she was very unprofessional by making the comment . The owner of this establishment should take action on this matter immediately because of people like her I seen establishments go out of business and that would be a shame since the food here is delicious. read more

The salsa had a strong taste of chili powder and the food was very salty. I usually add a little salt to my food but taste it first. I ordered soft rolled picadillo tacos and my husband ordered beef fajitas. His was a little salty for us. I sent the picadillo back and it was graciously exchanged for chicken tacos. Mexican restaurants come and go in Converse in a matter of months, so when this popped up I didn't even consider going. I know now that i'm stupid for that! Their menu is HUGE. My mom raved about their bean and cheese tacos and fajitas, but I am a flauta fiend so I got the chicken flauta plate. honestly embarrassing how fast i tore it uppppppp. Super nice ppl in the drive thru, order took a while but food came out really fresh, so worth it imo. they also gave lots of salsa (i'm in love with the green) we are definitely coming back soon. i hope this place gets recognized and stays permanently!!! read more

Not going back. my drink tasted funny, didn't think much of it but when i was halfway through with it i noticed a medium length grey hair in my drink and was immediately disgusted. i looked harder and saw crust around the cup at the top that i hadn't noticed before like it hadn't been washed properly. I told our nice server and she gave me a togo cup, i had a feeling something wasnt right i opened it and saw a piece of lettuce or celantro right at the top of my drink like not even hidden. How does this happen twice?? If something is wrong with a customers drink you should be more careful to fix the situation and that did not happen. I was with a family member who ordered a chicharrón taco and it had a bunch of HARD pieces in it. We did not care to get anything taken off our order and we said that but the cashier anyways told us the most she could take off was the drink?.. sounds like she just didn't feel the need to or want to take the bad tasting food off, anyways we did not care we told her no but it just seemed like we weren't believed when it was right in front of our faces. We ordered a papas con chorizo taco, a huevos con chorizo taco and 2 bean and cheese (added bacon) tacos and horchata. It was all delicious, fresh, and hot! I think my favorite was the papas con chorizo (potato and chorizo) to which I added green sauce. So tasty! Will definitely be back. Great food, great price! We ate there bc we had errands to run after. It isn't really set up for having meals in house, there are only about 6 counter seats, no restrooms.
