I don't know if I came on a good day or if this place was really just that friendly, but the staff was soooo happy and engaged with their service. I have loved this little place for many years. I come here for comfort food, to celebrate, and for friendship talks!! My kids love coming here and eating the yummy food! I have probably been coming to this location for over 10 years. The food has never changed. The tea is quite amazing. I gladly enjoy a cup of tea and nachos as I chat with friends, or I will even come here for a date night with my husband. The portions are always extra large and worth the money!! Food is tasty, not too spicy, but has flavor. The ladies who work here are always so very nice! The service is usually very fast, yet relaxed. They're super consistent and tasty! They're not too pricy and I think the flavor and portions are perfect. I grab their guisada tacos if I forget to meal prep for work and they're so good every time! I will start by saying that the older female server was obscene and disrespectful. Speaking Spanish to someone who doesn't speak Spanish, and while we talked to her in English, I thought it was inconsiderate of her even if we knew Spanish; our friend didn't. The server took my order incorrectly from the get-go. I told her tacos she heard torta; I told her tripa and brought me some pork rinds in a tortilla. Yes pork rinds from a a bag that you get in the gas station with a flour tortilla when I said corn tortillas not flour. Tripa/ chiccharron taco? I don't know what it was it tasted horrible and so gummy. Torta was ok. Menudo was good but barely had menudo lol. I thought I would never have to write one like this but here it is. This review of Dos Jalisco will be brief. In looking for a Mexican restaurant near me, I found through Google, Dos Jalisco on FM78 near Converse. Located on the East side of the street along a small strip mall, this restaurant appears to have once been a Chinese restaurant sometime in the past. There is ample seating with tables and booths. This is a family restaurant so, kids are welcome, one side note however, there are many hard surfaces such as Tile floors and walls, which amplify some noise especially from younger children. The menu is varied featuring of course Mexican food but, T-Bone Steaks, Chicken and some Breakfast options are also available. The staff is helpful and kind. Unfortunately, there is no alcohol served at this restaurant which is one reason I give an average rating. The other reason is while the food is okay, it's average as well. The Street Tacos I had were rather plain. The T-Bone Steak also ordered, was cooked well but, just not worth coming back for. The price point for this restaurant is $ low, mainly because only soft drinks, Tea and water are available. In general Dos Jalisco is nice but, I can not give it any better rating because there are so many other places I'd rather go. read more

This use to be my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area.. until my friend ate a ROACH that was in her menudo. I watched her pull out a roach leg from her mouth! I immediately called over the waitress and showed her what my friend had found. Before she could take it away I took a picture. Another server came out holding some spices and told me "it's not a roach leg it's a type of spice." I looked at her and said "please don't question my intelligence, I'm not stupid... that is certainly a roach leg." Needless to say, they took off the menudo from the bill. Picked up breakfast this morning and found a roach/ multi- legged insect in the food. You can imagine how we feel --physically and mentally-- if you have ever found a foreign object it n your food, you know what I mean. I called them and informed them of the situation, asked for a refund and promptly went to return the food. I obviously expressed my frustration. Upon arriving the lady behind the register apologized and asked if I wanted a refund or another plate. Please note that I am sure she is not senior level and was trying to fix his and was very nice. I told her hat it was a silly question as I thought the kitchen should close and I would never return. She apologized and attempted to refund me only the one plate. I told her that I threw away all the food to which she asked if the other food had any bugs. I was astounded that she would not see the need to be as accommodating as possible and as customer oriented as possible. I told her I wanted the whole $11 meal and not just he $5 plate. C'MON! I could have cleared he place out and you would imagine that the owner or manager would be ready to make this as best as possible. Not only do I have to clean the kitchen from our stomachs turning but now I have to fight for a full refund. So disappointed that senior management or owners did not handle this properly. I ordered a crispy beef taco plate, and I was given raw ground beef in a taco shell that was covered with cheese. When I explained that my meat was raw the only response I got was "oh really." Ordered 3 types of soups because I was sick: Fideo loco, caldo de pollo and tortilla soup and they were all awful. I started with the fideo soup; it was super salty. I knew it would be harmful to my blood pressure so I threw it away after eating a couple spoonfuls. My head was spinning and heart racing within 40 minutes! The next day I ate the caldo de pollo; it was ok but no cabbage or corn. When I scooped the potato it was a huge hacked piece (amateur knife skills) and what grossed me out was the damn potato was rotted in the middle! I couldn't eat it. Still hungry I heated the tortilla soup (no way they could mess this up, right? WRONG)! Another hacked vegetable- a hunk of rotted tomato. It seems the cook took NO pride in what they cooked or served customers. As a former caterer and sous chef I would never serve rotten food to anyone. Just throw it out! Food and service is all the reputation a restaurant has but not even the best service in San Antonio can make up for this horrible food. BEWARE! read more
