The service was friendly and helpful and very patient. The atmosphere was young and vibrant. The food was very flavorful and well thought out. While I found the Veggie burrito to be one of the best I've had, I thought that while the steak was well seasoned, it wasn't as tender or as brimming with "carbon" flavor as I would expect - but that might be more of an "in the Americas" sort of flavor profile for steak burritos. The guacamole was excellent, as was the queso. Will certainly be back to try more. I don't know if I would call this place vegetarian. It's amazing food and seems like a better, higher quality Spanish version of "Chipotle". The vegetarian option of filling was amazingly flavorful and well prepared. Had a triple taco with barbacoa, chicken and carnitas. And unfortunately the chicken wasn't great. Dry and flavorless compared to both the barbacoa and carnitas. Still haven't tried the steak - but I will the next time I come back! Sauces are actually spicy and even the medium was hot. This place is very nice. It knows what it is doing and does that. I had the burrito -bowl and the hubs had a burrito. Their veggie options (mine with guacamole and his with soy protein) were really tasty. I love that you get 3 toppings plus all the salsa's you want. Plus all the hot sauce on the table. Ingredients are fresh and vibe is nice. Ate there at 10pm on a Wednesday and the place was still busy. They have a great selection of beer. As a American living in Europe for close to two years the site of Flying Dog and Brooklyn Brewery made my heart smile. The margaritas look great, although since only available in 1 ltr, we opted for beer as we didn't want to overdo it on a school night. The location is also great. The Spanish version of Chipotle. No matter how busy, you can get through the line quickly. The chips and guac were fresh and tasty. I got a chicken bowl and my friend got a barbacoa bowl. She got considerably more food than me, which was fine because I was able to finish mine! Chicken was just ok. The rest of the ingredients were tasty and fresh. The cooked veggies were a good addition to the bowl. You can mostly just point to what you want if you speak little Spanish, which we do. This is the Spanish version of Chipotle in the USA. Chaotic during lunch time and no seats at this location. The food was flavorless but I'm sure healthier than what you get at Chipotle and also without E. coli and stomach aches that normally accompany eating Chipotle. read more

Okay, others have written how much this restaurant feels like Chipotle, and I will not argue that, although even the worst Chipotles keep their hot food to a specific temperature. Our chicken and pork were both lukewarm at best, and that seems to me to be something of a health concern. The store is nicely designed, but the food is really quite average. Coming from Texas where the Mexican food is to die for.....this is my home away from home in Madrid! When I get a craving for a good Mexican beer, a margarita, or a chipotle I head straight here. The food is amazing....they have all the fixings! Guacamole, salsas, queso, corn relish, sour cream. I prefer the carnitas tacos but you also have to try the nachos. The portions are great and they dont skimp. I think the place is still fairly new and the atomsphere is great. I love the picnic bench tables and the extra salsas at the table. Craving Chipotle after a few weeks in Europe and saw the reviews for this place. Serve Ells should really invest in this chain because it's actually better than Chipotle imo. The cheese sauce and green salsa are so good, and the medium salsa is HOT (I normally get hot at Chipotle back home but this was hotter). Nice selection of beers and outdoor seating. This precious Mexican food joint was started by a guy who studied abroad here & decided Madrid needed a "Chipotle Style" place. That is exactly what he created! I had a burrito and shared a pitcher of margaritas with friends. It was very reasonably priced & the food was very good!! I'm not a margarita fanatic because I don't love super sweet drinks but these were very good. I'm not exactly sure what they do differently but they taste fresh & not too sweet :) The staff also speaks English pretty well! read more

Their spicy sauce is the best! But get the spiciest one, I recommend. Only thing they need to improve on is customer service, definitely not the friendliest people when you ask them to explain things to you or recommend things. Coming from Southern California, I was craving Mexican food after about a week. Tierra was the closest thing my friends and I could find in Madrid. We called it "better chipotle" because you go down the assembly line to put together your meal. This location of Tierra was a couple blocks from my apartment so I probably went once a week. The location in Sol definitely came in handy on a night out. The queso sauce here is delicious. If you're in Spain and craving Mexican, Tierra will temporarily satisfy you. read more

I love tierra burrito bar! (Me encanta tierra burrito bar!) I am from Texas & California and these burritos are amazzzing. They make me feel right at home. My husband had the barbacoa and I had the veggie burrito, they were soo good. You can pick between 3 different salsas mexicanas, just like in the states. I was not brave enough to have the spicy one but my husband loved it, I am going to bring all my spanish friends here so they can get a taste of america in the heart of madrid! Welp, safe to say I absolutely adored this locale. It's got everything an American burrito joint might have, PLUS cozy decorations and a relaxing ambiance. The menu had everything you might expect (meat: chicken, barbacoa, steak, carnitas) and all the fixings. They also had a stellar variety of beer from all over. The servings were hefty so cannot imagine a person leaving Tierra still hungry. The decorations could very well be in a cool Malasaña cafe, white tones and cozy tables with mismatched chairs and pretty plants galore. I'm not a fan of anything remotely spicy, but my date tried his luck with the multiple bottles of hot sauce on each table and was satisfied with the spiciness of his choice. My only (tiny) complaint would be that the beer was a bit expensive. Lest we forget that they do indeed have happy hour specials. So, basically, it's an American-style burrito place sans the commercialization and chaotic atmosphere. Good for groups, dates, or if you're flying solo. read more

Finally the real thing in Madrid! I've been looking for a decent burrito for the last five years with no luck. This place brings the picante, and right along side it a nice selection of beers: Brooklyn Lager, Sam Adams, Anchor Steam, etc... The line can be a little much, and, yes, the process is, um... in process, but the food is top notch, the decor spot on, and the terraza really brings it all together. I, for one, am excited to have a place like this for those days when I just want to feel at home. read more

On a recent trip across the pond to visit fellow yelper Jennifer B (shout out!) she took me to one of her favorite places that she said reminded her of home. We are from Texas so our lives pretty much revolve around Mexican food. After being immersed with tapas and other authentic Spanish food we decided to go back to our Tex-Mex roots and she brought us here for dinner one night. She explained it was pretty similar to Chipotle from the USA. The menu even looks pretty similar. I decided to get the steak salad but they ended up being out of steak so I went with my standard choice in the USA - the vegetarian (because it includes guacamole, not because I am a herbivore). Jennifer was right - this place was legit and was as close to Tex-Mex as you can get thousands of miles away. The owners did well! I also was able to walk out with a to-go cup of my beloved Coca-Cola Lite which my friend explained is pretty rare for Spain. Definitely check this place out if you are craving something different than traditional Spanish food, or are a little homesick from Texas! read more

Tierra is amazing - the decor is minimalist modern, but the atmosphere is warm and friendly - a very unique feel and place I could spend hours at or simply grab something on the run. Most importantly, the food is fantastic, fresh and delicious. There are a great list of options - all meats from beef, chicken and carnitas to a robust variety of vegetarian and vegan options. It's also refreshing to find a place with a global beer selection! Every day they have different beers on special and their happy hour is both long-lasting and a great deal.
