They make it seem like it's mandatory to get gel ($$$$). Because of that, I felt like the lady chose the cheapest polish they had. Why do I say that? Well because the clear coat that they usually put over the nail polish started peeling off 4 days later. You can also tell in the pictures that the color is chipping on the top. Once I was seated, my nail tips were partially applied, and then I was left waiting for about 10 minutes while the technician finished working on another client. By that point, I felt committed to the appointment and didn't feel like I could leave. The biggest issue, however, was that I later found out the technician wasn't Kim--the person I had specifically booked with. At the end of the appointment, I asked for her name to confirm, and it was indeed someone else. At no point did any of the three employees who checked me in mention that I would not be seeing the technician I had scheduled with or ask if I was okay with the change. Unfortunately, my nails did not turn out as I had hoped. The technician did try her best, and I don't fault her for that, but I specifically chose this salon and booked with Kim because I wanted her work. I ended up paying for a full set from someone I never agreed to book with, and I believe customers should always be informed if their scheduled technician has changed before the service begins. I even received a missed call and message asking if I was coming to the appointment for Kim & I was there already checked in seeing Jun... Luckily Jun gave me a $3 discount which was appreciated. Can we help you?" despite having an appointment. I waited past my appointment time and was never told that another technician was expected to arrive or given any explanation for the delay. When I got up to leave, I was asked to come back and was seated at a pedicure chair to soak while both employees continued working on manicures. Around 11:35, another employee arrived. She came over and asked which pedicure I wanted, so I assumed she would be taking care of me. Instead, she sat about two chairs away and proceeded to give herself a pedicure and manicure while I continued waiting. At no point had anyone explained who would be doing my service or why my 11:00 appointment was so delayed. Once my pedicure did get underway, I will give credit where it's due: the Sports Spa pedicure itself was lengthy and relaxing, and I did not feel like the actual treatment was rushed. Unfortunately, after leaving I noticed a red mark on my upper chest/shoulder where the heated shoulder wrap had been resting during the service. I did not have this mark before arriving. The area afterward was red, warm to the touch, and felt similar to a scratch. I'm including a photo of how it looked afterward. I can't say with certainty what caused the irritation, but the location and timing made me concerned about the heated wrap. The actual pedicure had enjoyable aspects, but the lack of communication surrounding my appointment, the long wait, the unusual experience of watching an employee give herself services while I was waiting, and the skin irritation afterward made the overall experience disappointing.
