This is a pretty cool ocean themed playground we've visited a couple of times while visiting family that live nearby. I love the flooring, clean and cushiony and no sand! Castle like structures, obstacle course, swings and slides. I also love there's only one entrance to the playground, this is a huge plus since I'm usually with at least 3 kids (but 5-7 when we come here). There are shaded areas, water stations and restrooms. They also have pavilions you can use for free during the week or rent on the weekends for birthday parties. read more

Tiger Shark Cove Park is located in Wellington. The multilevel playground was dreamed up by local elementary students who voted on the ocean theme. A monument commemorating the playground opening was created out of concrete and embedded with a row of big and small handprints and the message "We Built It Together 2000." In 2012 the playground was rebuilt and the weathered wood was replaced with composite and structural plastic. The original features of the park, a sand castle and a carved tiger shark surrounded by multiple levels and hidden alcoves were preserved. A pirate ship, submarine, and crab shack were added and the mulch was replaced with a poured rubberized surface. There is even a mister to cool you off. The local community pitched in to support the project. If you approach the restroom near the playground you can't help but notice a bright yellow bench. The bench was put in the park by the not for profit Josh's Benches of Awareness which was founded in 2018 after Cindy Nadelbach's 21 year old son Josh died by suicide after suffering from anxiety and depression. Cindy had the idea of shining a light on the issue of mental health by placing the bright yellow benches in parks with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline on them in bold lettering and the message to "Call 211 or Text 898211" for help. Josh's mother hopes to expand the yellow bench project nationwide. This bench is dedicated to Emily Lowe, a Wellington resident who took her life at the age of 20. Although suicide is not a topic people like to discuss, suicide is the 3rd cause of death for ages 11 to 34 in the United States. This is the first yellow bench I have found in a park and now that I know about this wonderful non profit I am going to look more into supporting it. In addition to the playground, Shark Cove Park has four softball fields, basketball court, restroom, concession stand, paved walkways, and picnic pavilions. Several birthday parties were taking place the day I visited. This unique playground sparks imagination and many in the Wellington community have fond childhood memories of playing here. read more

I brought my son here on a late Sunday morning. Entering the park I noticed a very nice large sized pavilion for parties and two smaller pavilions (gazebo size) right at the entrance of the playground. This playground is huge. With various obstacle course style structures, swings, slides and even a misting area, there is something for every child. There are some covered areas for parents to stand but a lot of direct sunlight where the kids play. I would recommend more trash cans inside the play area as I did not see many and heard a few moms asking the same question. This is not the place to forget your sunscreen. read more

Moved to Wellington in 2005. Our son grew up playing here and saw a few changes along the way. Now, our son is in the Army. I miss those days when he would ask if we could take him to the park and bring his Nerf gun and play solder. Park / Playground A great place for the littles to hone their climbing and exploring skills. We were out in the Wellington area and needed a little break and we just happened to be driving by this park so wheeled in for a look. The playground area is where we pretty much were with my two boys, so they took off on their adventure while I walked around to get a feel for the safety aspect. The structures are all in good shape and there is plenty of room for the kids to play, climb and explore. Slides are scattered around so there should not be too much in the way of kids all piled up waiting for a turn. The climbing obstacles are all different sizes, to accommodate the various age groups and skill levels, which helps keep the littler kids from getting trampled - nice touch. There is a small water spray section, but it was not on the day we went but would normally be a great way to cool off the overheated kids. There are a few picnic kiosks available with large tables so you can break out the snacks and take a few minutes to recharge. Plenty of parking available Worth a stop if in the Wellington area read more

This castle playground is pretty great. It's whimsical and well thought out. This playground is unique in that it is Ocean-themed, complete with a mini-coral castle with blue mosaic designs inside (great photo ops here!). My 20-month-old son loved all the painted, colorful wooden sea creatures decorating the park. The playground is nicely fenced and the floor is made of spongy material, like a giant mat underneath the whole thing. Castle parks are more intuitive for little ones to climb and explore, but I agree with Toria's review: little ones need constant supervision, as there are gaping holes in high areas and an area where steps go abruptly from one-step-high to 4-steps-high without any warning- my son fell from the first of these high steps and landed head-first into metal poles, though I was right beside him! When I visited, there was a pretty large age range of children using this park. It was cool to see older kids play hide-and-go seek amongst all the structures. Tiger Shark has a large parking lot. My pet peeves with this park are minor: -I wish there was at least one garbage can inside the actual park. This might help eliminate some of the trash (or at least allow parents to throw existing trash away while still watching our kids play). Instead, the cans (disguised as dolphins- the trash goes into the 'mouth') are just outside of the fenced playground. -Where's the recycling bin?! -I wish there was a water fountain at the playground. Instead, it is tucked into the bathroom area, which is not adjacent. It's fine to take a walk across a field to get to the bathroom, but a water fountain is another story and something that children can use themselves without adult supervision. Playgrounds illicit thirst! -It's a small hike from the parking lot to the playground itself. I used a stroller to transport my diaper bag and umbrella from the car to the playground. read more

My son is getting older (3 years going on 13...lol) and he's really enjoying the parks. This one is actually pretty neat. They have plenty of shade and fun areas for the kids to enjoy. There are swings, slides, and even a mist machine that the kids can cool off in when they start to get sweaty. They have bathrooms, picnic tables, and a pavilion that is located right outside the park. I'm sure they have birthday celebrations here a lot and it might be a good idea to call way in advance if you want to have a party here. The park is fenced in and there is only one way to enter and exit out of, so it's a great security feature for any kid and a lot less worrying from the parent. Win win. I just wish it wasn't a half hour drive or else I would be here more often. It's pretty cool to see my son having a blast. I know my daughter will be doing the same thing when she gets older. It's great for the kids to go and burn off their energy while having fun doing so. It makes me wish I was a kid again and not having a care in the world. read more

Such an amazing park with lots of safe and fun structures for the kids. We went here almost daily for weeks.

It is an amazing playground for toddlers and kids, my 18 month old really enjoyed it. However, there were some teens and young adults playing tag, it became dangerous, they were running fast everywhere it became hectic and we had to leave. read more

Tiger Shark Cove Park has one of the most fantastic playgrounds I have ever seen. It reminded me of a park I would see with in a amusement park. A cool thing is that there is only one entry way to the playground, so unless your child climbs the fence, it is nice to know they won't leave with out you noticing. There is seating inside and shaded areas, also. The park has picnic tables, restrooms, and is very well taken care of. I found myself wishing I was a kid so I could play. read more

Took my 2.5 year old here. It is a cute themed park. However, I noticed lots of hidden areas that a child could fall from an open high area and get badly hurt. Specifically, the opening near the wall climbing. You still need to be on top of your toddlers at this park as the steps I find are quite high as well and they are camouflaged in. They really should have a yellow neon strip at the edge of the steps. Overall, it's a cute park. I'll go back again, but I enjoy Royal Palm Commons park much better. read more

Tigar shark cove park was a place of my childhood. I remember when they first opened, at the time my sister and I were attending new horizons elementary school. When they first opened all the children that attended the grand opening got to put there handprints on the tiles and fence posts. I now live in California but great memories. read more

Fantastic park! One of the best I've ever been to! They have a shade covered swing section, giant pirate ship, it's totally fenced in with 1 entrance/exit, misters for those super hot Florida days, areas for different ages, and plenty of benches. The kids love it here! read more
