    Signature and Taro

I wasn't expecting much but Tiger Sugar really blew me away. All boba tea is not created equal after all. Their signature brown sugar boba tea is absolutely delightful. You have to shake it a few times before drinking for the full experience. I love the addition of cream/mousse to the tea. We also tried the Taro which is less sweet compared to the signature and it was my husband's favorite of the two. Will definitely be back to try the Matcha and Mango flavors!

The #1 on the the brown sugar signature items list is delicious, I got it without the pearls and I guess that means I had more to drink in my cup. Sweet flavor but not overly sweet, would definitely get again when I'm in the area. The storefront is small but nice, they have a little area where you can sit in, faces the street so you can watch cars and people pass you by. The 2 ladies that were there when I went to get my drink were kind and helpful in selecting items and taking care of my order adjustments quickly.

If you're a boba enthusiast like me, you know that not all bubble tea is created equally. Some shops specialize in specific type of bubble tea and I will say Tiger Sugar is my go to for brown sugar boba. I probably wouldn't order anything else other than the brown sugar drinks here, specifically their #1 and #2 (my favorite). I'm so happy they had opened one in Philadelphia, I'm now able to get my boba fix whenever I'm in Philadelphia. As a chain, I'm sure they have to follow specific procedures and recipes when making their drinks so the taste is pretty consistent with other Tiger Sugar locations. The only thing about this location is that my drink had too much ice, probably like half of the cup was filled with ice which is why I knocked out a star. But overall, if you haven't tried Tiger Sugar I would definitely recommend it!

Milk Tea with Boba Delicious as usual, a little on the sweet side. Good milk tea flavor, nice chewy pearls

Always happy to see a Tiger Sugar! We ordered the signature drink which is the milk tea with pearls and boba. We also ordered the mango sago drink which had fresh mango pieces. The only issue I have with Tiger Sugar is that everything is preset. You can't customize the ice, sugar levels or toppings.

Bubble tea is NOT created equal. The store is small but surprisingly efficient since customer orders are quickly processes. Offer a range sweet drinks to even cakes. Tried the strawberry mochi. The cup was a delight to my eyes with its cute hello kitty sign and pink theme. A collectable? Unfortunately, the taste fell short. Could sense the strawberry drink and the mochi but neither of them added together to enhance each other.

Pretty good boba. Got the #5 brown sugar milk tea with pudding. The flavor was a little bland and too milky. Surprisingly not too sweet. The tapioca pearls were a perfect texture. The service was fast.

Small little store front, probably one of half dozen in Philly's Chinatown that specializes in bubble tea. This one specializes even further in the brown sugar variety. Limited menu, but given what they do, they do it well. Probably only 2 dozen drink choices, and definitely, a takeout only place. We chose the 2 most popular drinks (variations on brown sugar milk tea with boba) in large size. They were beautiful , creamy and delicious, though not too much different or better than we've had at other tea shops that weren't quite so specialized nor pricey. If you gotta have a pretty brown sugar milk tea and want for sure to know it's good, come here and pay a little extra (10-20% premium over other places).

We LOVE this spot in Chinatown. Plenty of options, my favorite is the brown sugar boba drinks. Friendly and quick services. It's a small shop but there's also some seating available. Fresh delicious boba, so many flavors available. Highly recommend this little gem!

The boba scene in Philly Chinatown had exploded since the last time I've had a proper walk around. I was excited to see a Tiger Sugar shop here, after enjoying it in the Boston area. I hyped it up to my mom and the Tall Man, and the drinks did not disappoint. The shop is pretty spare with no indoor seating. The menu and specials are posted up around the plexi glass separating customers from the drink making area (an ongoing pandemic precaution). It's all about the business of boba. There was one person working, and she was helpful with recommendations in both English and Cantonese. I got a hot brown sugar boba black tea with 50% sugar, while the Tall Man ordered a brown sugar taro milk tea and my mom got the mango sago special (the latter two coming only in large sizes). We were all quite happy with our drinks. I love the caramelized taste of the tiger sugar they use (a deeper flavor than normal brown sugar or honey), although it does make the drinks sweeter than my usual preference. But it's worth it! The black tea itself stood out, too. Real taro purée and mango/mango juice were used in the other drinks. My mom, who is usually picky about her sweetness levels and flavors, ended up liking her mango sago so much that she almost forgot to eat lunch. If I have any small complaints, it's that the sweetness levels can't be titrated as much as other shops (only 100%, 50%, or zero sugar). The bubbles also didn't hold up as well in a hot drink and became much softer than I've had elsewhere. Still, I've rounded up from 4.5 stars to 5. Tiger Sugar has carved out a narrow yet satisfying niche, making it unique among the flood of boba shops. Looking forward to coming back!

Yeah if you don't have a sweet tooth, Zhongli is not for you. In my opinion, Zhongli is the creme de la creme of boba places. They have the creamiest and tastiest boba drinks around. Something about the sugar that they use is just so good. It's hard to explain, but one sip of one of their drinks and you'll know. It's like a drinkable dessert in a cup. Originally, I had tried Zhongli in Cupertino, CA, but this location in Chinatown of Philly, PA is virtually the same, so it's getting a similar review. For this particular location, I had their limited edition strawberry mochi drink, and it was fantastic. The mochi in the drink had a nice texture and the strawberry milk was delightful. The drinks here are also very picturesque, so that's a plus if you're looking to post on social media. The main negative of Zhongli is that you can't adjust the sugar and ice levels. If you don't have a sweet tooth, or you're one of those Asians who like when desserts are "not too sweet", then this place is probably not for you. It doesn't really apply to me though, I thought the drinks were fantastic. Perhaps also negatives are a limited menu and a cramped venue, but I didn't mind. Enough talk.

I had not had bubble tea in quite sometime but my friend really wanted to go and I'm always up for an adventure. I had checked out the menu before we got there and it's small but good. I'm lactose intolerance so I was happy to see a tea option. Inside is small but quick & efficient. Order, pay, scoot out of the way and they'll call your number. I got green tea boba. Really sweet but really delicious. The pearls were bigger than I remembered and after a few chews I got the hang of it. Day after I was already craving it again. Not pricey and in a good location in Chinatown.

Great if you love milk tea! It is a bit sweet and you can't really adjust the sugar level. I feel like you only come when you crave this certain type of bubble tea, but not as a regular thing. Inside is small and there is not much seating; not really cozy like other bubble tea places. Pretty good location in Chinatown though!

We joked that I should keep visiting different ChiCha locations around the world to compare. There were a handful of customers sitting around when we arrived weekday mid-afternoon. The staff only had one customer waiting for their drink and no one waiting to order until we came. They only have one kiosk which I think is inefficient unless their traffic isn't that high. I ordered my usual: high mountain pouchong, light ice, less sweet, grass jelly. In terms of tea flavor, I think it's pretty on par with the other ChiCha locations. If I had to rank them it'd be: Boston, New York = Philly = Hong Kong, Chicago

It was naturally sweet without tasting artificial, allowing the floral notes of the tea to come through. The Dong Ding Tea was the standout for me smooth, aromatic, and incredibly clean-tasting with a rich, roasted finish that lingered pleasantly after each sip. It's the kind of tea you can slowly enjoy and appreciate. If you're looking for authentic, high quality tea instead of overly sweet bubble tea, ChiCha San Chen is definitely worth visiting. I'll absolutely be back to explore more of their menu!

Even with the crowd, the staff stayed friendly and worked quickly, so we didn't have to wait too long for our drinks. One thing I still love is the seating. They have giant plushies sitting in the booths, so if you're by yourself, you're not just awkwardly staring at an empty seat across from you. Maybe I'm the only one who appreciates that, but I think it's a cute touch. The matcha here is the real deal. It's bright green, fragrant, and has that rich, earthy flavor with just enough natural bitterness that you know they're using quality matcha. A lot of places advertise matcha, but this one actually delivers. I ordered one of their matcha desserts with ice cream, and it was creamy, refreshing, and let the matcha flavor shine instead of burying it under sugar. My only complaint is that it was pretty warm inside. It was a hot summer day, and I honestly couldn't tell if the air conditioning was running or if it was just fans. Either way, it wasn't very cool inside. Thankfully I had ice cream, so it didn't bother me too much, but it's something to keep in mind if you're stopping by on a really hot day. Overall, another great visit. Friendly staff, consistently high-quality matcha, and a fun atmosphere. If you're a matcha lover, this is still one of my favorite spots in Chinatown.

I was overheated from being in the sun for 20 minutes, so that poster was very appealing to me. I kept thinking about it throughout my meal at Sky Café. Therefore, my friend and I truly trotted over afterwards. When we were deciding what drink to get, we noticed a young guy with an elderly grandma who bought many snacks from their shelves and fridge, so my friend and I went to browse too. We don't go to Vietnamese cafes and markets much, so many things we saw there looked interesting to us. Unfortunately we couldn't try everything, so we just window shopped. My friend ordered the Kumquat Thai Tea. It tastes like what it sounds like but that actually bothered my friend lol. When I tried it, I was surprised by how it's not as refreshing as I expected. I think the Thai tea base could be more clear. The cup wasn't sealed properly, so tea kept spilling as we walked. I didn't want to get the wintermelon tea, because I saw prebatched bottles in the fridge, so I would question what's the difference ordering with them vs grabbing a bottle myself. Therefore I decided to order the cane juice hoping that it will be good for the summer heat. They said they ran out, so I got the citrus lemongrass tea instead. I'm amused they gave a slice of orange. My drink was more refreshing, and it's a more unique flavor than generic cafes out there so I'm pleased. It wasn't too sweet. The café has cute wooden benches and tables. The selection of Vietnamese snacks were intriguing and should be legit given the old grandma bought a lot. Even though I don't know how realistic it is for me to come again, but I'd want to!
