I went for the Pokémon promo and ordered the Chikorita matcha with half sugar and half ice. Unfortunately it got put in as half sugar only, and wow, they really do not play around with ice. The cup was basically full of ice with just a little drink and some boba at the bottom. In this weather it felt like I was mostly paying for ice instead of a drink. If they didn't hear me properly, that happens, but it was still disappointing. The matcha flavor itself was actually pretty generous and tasty. The boba portion was very sparse, though. I also noticed a sugar tax on the receipt, which I've never seen anywhere else. Not sure if I got charged extra for asking for half sugar or if that's just how this location does it. I was hoping to get some of the promo straw covers, but when I asked, the staff didn't know about the collaboration at all. It's fine if they ran out, but it seemed like they just weren't informed about it, even though I did get the promo cup. Kind of a bummer. I also wanted a macaron, but out of the 20 flavors listed, they only had three available. That really thinned out the whole experience. The staff did try their best, and the shop has lots of places to sit and a festive tree up, which was nice. Quick stop in for an afternoon sweet treat and KFT does not disappoint. I noticed this location has some yummy snacks - onigiri, spring rolls, and takoyaki. If I wasn't headed out to dinner I would have grabbed some bc the spring rolls looked amazing! I did get a mango milk tea with boba and it was ready quickly. First time at this location. Luckily, I found parking in the front! #winning. Quick and easy service. Dropped in and grabbed my favorite Thai milk bubble tea. Consistently good at any of their locations I've been to. This time I switched it up and tried one of their appetizers which was the shrimp tempura rice ball. The rice ball was good and reminded me of a bigger version of a shrimp tempura sushi roll. I always use the Kung Fu Tea app to purchase my bubble teas. Vent coming up: What's crazy to me is that -- you have to purchase 168 bubble teas to get 1 free drink. That's wild! I believe I have 118 more bubbles to go...LAUGH OUT LOUD! It's a busy location of a chain. I've been to a few locations and had reliable drinks. Staff have a lot to keep up with, and they seem a little impatient if you don't know exactly what you want. Make a decision before you get in line. The brown sugar boba was pretty sweet. I like that they have coffee options too. It's good to know that there area lot of drinks that do not have caffeine. Make sure you understand what you are ordering or you could end up with what was basically chocolate milk, like I did one time. (Not that chocolate milk is a bad thing, right?) But if you read carefully and order correctly, you'll be rewarded with a tasty tea with boba. They also have slushes, which are refreshing in hot weather. read more

When the bubble tea spot I used to go to over by the late, great Rangoon also closed and I needed somewhere to work for a few hours before meeting a friend nearby, this spot best fit my needs: Unlike most of the other boba spots, it actually had space for someone with a laptop to work or study. It was busy, and the music was probably a little louder than I might have liked (even with noise-canceling headphones), but it turned out to be a solid choice. I prefer to have milk tea without sugar added--so that the boba I add to it is the only sugar source (i.e., so it's not cloyingly sweet or sending me toward diabetes). It was a little hard to communicate with the masked worker through the barrier and over the loud music, but once we got past that, it seemed like their basic tea (without any flavorings, which tend to add sugar) was the one that would serve my needs. The drink was perfectly good--not life-changing but good--the Wi-fi worked well (there was even an outlet near my table) and the bathroom was clean. When I arrived to pick it up, they asked me to pay but said I'd have to wait a bit longer because the order wasn't ready yet. I waited a few more minutes and asked again, only to be told that rice balls take longer to prepare. The whole time, the employees were just standing around chatting. There were many completed orders on the table that they didn't even bother to check. When I finally asked them to check one last time, it turned out my order had been sitting there for a long time. Fresh, actual tea used in drinks. I got the almond milk tea and normally it is just the powder which is overly sweetened and makes my face swallow itself in fear, but this place allows you to adjust sugar as needed on most drinks. For my specific drink, there was no adjustment, but the sweetness wasn't very much either, it was good. The staff were nice and it was packed to the brim. I never realized people like to hangout at boba places until this visit. They had 2 seating areas with plenty of seating. Everything was done quickly and precisely. Enjoyed my short visit here. I've ordered taro at other Kung Fu locations and never had bad tea. I've ordered taro all over and it has always been purple. Their boba is sweet and perfectly cooked but something is desperately wrong with their taro tea at this location. I first got my order and couldn't tell the color was wrong under their dim lighting, it wasn't until I got outside and sipped it that I noticed it didn't taste like taro, more like coffee or thai tea. Then I put my flashlight on it and realized it was brown, probably the wrong drink, no worries, hate to bother them but was really looking forward to taro so I go back inside, wait my turn, explain to the gal I think they made me the wrong drink. She squints at it, yells at another girl making drinks who also squints at it, she claims 'that's black tea, that's how it is' and I again say 'it doesn't taste like taro and it's not the usual purple color so I just wanted to check' she says it's not the wrong drink but she'll make it for me again. I wait and hope maybe this one will come out right but sadly no, I got the same weird brown not-taro flavored tea back but with more sugar in it. I could understand if the first one was made wrong by accident (use the wrong base, forget the taro flavor, etc it's cool that happens no worries) but to have the second one come out the same and have them claim it was taro was just mind boggling to me. :( Just disappointed since this location is close to the convention center it would have been convenient to get my daily taro fix there during con. There were a lot of options that you could get here! There were a lot of fillings you could add to your tea. I got the cookies and cream bubble tea. This was good. And I have to say, the taste and quality of their ingredients is consistent across all these locations and states! That amazes me! Oolong milk tea is always my go to, and hot oolong milk tea is even better, especially during the in the winter months. I got the latter with boba, & it was so comforting and delicious! The milk tea was not too sweet (I got 50% sugar) and the boba was warm and perfectly chewy-- just how I like it! I'm actually really surprised. I never come here because it's always crowded and they historically used powder for the Thai tea, but it seems that they might be brewing it these days. I don't know that for a fact, but my tea wasn't the grainy, semi-sweet nonsense that you get from a poorly mixed powder. The bubbles are consistently cooked to temperature and properly sweetened, which I feel like Chinatown shops do generally well but once you get bubble tea just a few blocks south it gets a little inconsistent. The shop is tiny and on a well-traveled street, so unless it's the middle of a weekday, you might want to make plans for consuming your snacks elsewhere. They also get a little backed up so don't be surprised if you're waiting for a bit. read more

I literally got them to admit that they were lying about this nobody even knows what that means. I love cash too but I'm not going to blatantly lie to customers to get paid in it. They wouldn't let me get my tea because the girl "didn't want to get fired" for breaking the "cash only on Saturday nights rule". Again she literally admitted that they were lying, and the machine worked fine. If the credit card company charges too much for their liking they can: 1. Raise the prices slightly 2. Cut costs elsewhere, perhaps cheaper ingredients or less branding on the cups etc. 3. Don't accept credit cards I'm not saying these are ideal but at least they're not lies and they are options that a business can balance out. I say they just take the credit cards, I'm sure they're already making an excellent profit $4.00-$6.00 a cup of tea and tapioca pearls. They may think they save a bit by making a "credit card minimum of $5.00" or a ridiculous "...batch is full" sign on the register but they still wind up losing. With regards to this policy, they absolutely have to take any credit card that they have an account with for any dollar amount. I too am a merchant, I know for a fact that if they advertise that they take credit cards they can't pick and choose the amount, this is a fact. They can lose their right (privilege) to take credit cards for sure if people complain to the credit card company, because of the insulting sign I think I will do just that. I will no longer be going there at least for a while as well as my wife until they wise up. We go all the time that's a loss of $200+ a year by far for just myself and her it's a shame, they do indeed have a good product. People aren't stupid and they know there are other options, lot's of them. This is exactly the kind of crap Yelp was made for alas they won't listen they're way too arrogant. read more
