I always get the gumbo here. They allow you to try the stock. Gumbo is amazing here!

If you're passing through looking for an authentic Cajun experience (food, culture, etc) and choose to stop here, just know it's anything but that. It's not terrible but it's just nothing memorable and the food has NO seasoning on it whatsoever nor do they have sauces or condiments for you to use inside. Just get your gas and road drink of choice and head on across the bridge or deeper into Cajun territory to eat. read more

Spent $15 on... **THE** worst breakfast food I have EVER had in my life. Contemplated calling the POLICE FOR PETTY THEFT. Bacon was like beggin dogs treats with a touch of salt Sausage was a frozen (terrible) meat disk they put under a heat lamp for a couple hours Eggs were DISGUSTING!! This was the worst thing of the platter, I was INSULTED by the quality of these eggs. ABSOLUTELY NO FLAVOR, it was certainly pre packaged and extremely poorly prepared. Fried potato hash brown bite things... absolutely no flavor or salt, but I will admit probably the only thing actually meant for human consumption in a very stretched interpretation of "edible." This breakfast experience was so terrible, not to even mention the absolutely scam of a price, I will NEVER return to this truck stop--day or night or anytime of day--simply because this food was so insultingly bad. The tiger passed away, i'm sure because he spend his life behind bars. He was kept there for entertainment which is even sadder. This service station is just like any other country truck shop, the only unique thing about this one is they seem to love to keep animals caged up. Now, if you walk into the store. There's this small South American animal who spends his/her days playing with dog toys. I'm thinking why in the world would you take a perfect animal out of his own habitat and bring to an area he isn't familiar with and stick him in a bird cage? The stupidity and idea for sick entertainment. Additionally, like most country stores you can find yourself cramped amongst junk galore - from homemade condiments, jellies, jams, snacks, cluttered all over the small store. Now, the restroom. It's as small as the store, if not smaller. When I walked in, I thought the store staff was washing a load of clothing because it sounded like a washing machine stuffed beyond its capacity. Only two cramped stalls that the door only swings one way to close, which is the opposite way. An odor that can and will cause you to vomit, especially if you have a weak stomach. One small vanity sink and a mirror you can't see your face in. Now, where's the logic behind that? Things that need to change: -remove all animals from your jails (to improve their quality of life) -get rid of the clutter -clean the ladies restroom -add more stalls, sinks, better mirrors -don't over stuff the washer to the point it makes that rocking noise RIP to the tiger RIP to the South American animal who was born into thinking he'd live a life around his family. read more

Yelp decided to remove my review for the Tiger Truck stop and I don't know why because it was pretty damn spot on and hysterical. Here is my experience at the Tiger Truck Stop. When you see the signs for the Tiger Truck Stop you might think at first (like I did) that it is named that way because you are in LSU territory. Makes sense, right? Wrong. It is because they had an actual tiger caged up here for whatever reason. It seemed cruel and wrong that it was just there for people to gawk at. I mean they do the same thing at zoos around the country, but this ain't no zoo. This is a nasty ass truck stop and it was all by itself with no friends or room to roam. The tiger has since passed away but I believe they have other animals if you want to go gawk at them. I don't want to feel sad, so I'm gonna go ahead and pass. Another reason I am only giving this place one star is because it is FILTHY. I had to stop here because nature was calling and I didn't think I had another choice. I was appalled at the disorganization of the place and when I asked were the restroom was, was further appalled. This isn't a place you want to take off your underthings people. It's just not. Right across the interstate (not 2 minutes going the other direction) there is the Iberville Welcome Center which is very clean, the volunteers are so friendly and there are vending machines for snacks. No animals in cages there, just nice little touches like fresh flowers in the restrooms. I mean it's your choice but I know where I stop now if I have to go! read more

Didn't go in the actual truck stop. But we stopped to see the petting zoo at the truck stop. It was pretty cool. The nicest lady name Carla walked us through. We saw goats, bunnies, chickens, two mini ponies ducks and a kangaroo. My first time to ever pet a kangaroo! Then we drove around back to see the camel! We even got to feed the camel! Carla told us the story about the tiger they use to have and how it was now stuffed and being displayed in the restaurant. She also told us about the restaurant. It seems like a sketchy place, but it was actually pretty cool! read more

Can't believe that I almost fell for the political haters here and didn't stop! It's SO good!! Find out for yourself. The whole place is set up with a personality - so welcome in today's world. PETA apparently went on the war path against them, but if PETA has their way, you would be foraging for fruits and nuts and deprived of meat and dairy. So there is that. I do animal rescue (birds, pit bulls, tortoise), and I know compassion and cleanliness when I see it. On this day when we passed through, there were no less than FOUR people working in 90 degree heat on one amazing new home for their latest exotic animal. They were affixing fun toys and little obstacle courses for the animals. No one who doesn't love animals goes to these lengths for their animals. This is a ministry of love. The cages were immaculate! They have fun toys, soft beds, sophisticated climbing apparatus, fresh and healthy food and plenty of water. As an aside, we found the entire place quaint and clean. And the food was amazing!! We had the alligator sausage and omelets. All were delicious, generous, and very inexpensive. Regarding the tiger... The tiger they had died at 19 of VERY old age. The average lifespan of a tiger in the wild is 10 years. Look it up. In captivity, they can live to 12 or so, according to my research. But this tiger lived to 19 - almost a record. How DARE the haters criticize these humanitarians. I saw a baby kangaroo playing with a kitten, and several very happy animals that I would never see in my lifetime if it weren't for this fun stop and little adventure. read more

One interesting gas station. No I did not know they have a zoo and one had a tiger Ron site. I mean, who does that? But hey, this is a small town and I guess they feel the need for a local attraction. The gas is not the cheapest， but is an easy stop on my way back from Baton Rouge. Lady's restroom is in the store while the gent's is just outside, next to the tiger status. Truck/trailers have their own section. Judging from the traffic, this is gotta be a popular stop. They also have a nice deli section of hot food. I got myself a fried turkey wing. Oh boy it hits the spot. Really tasty and good value. read more

Such a weird Cajun stop to make. One of the weirdest rest stops I've been to in a while. So they used to have a tiger here, but it died. It lived its life in this giant metal cage out in the sun, with some shade. Once the tiger died, they had to replace it with something, so they got a statue of it, and placed it in the parking lot, and got a camel. It looks sad hanging out all by itself in a giant cage with nothing interesting to play with or look at, or talk to. The camel is now a celebrity. Apparently, some woman jumped the fence and climbed into the cage, where the camel sat on her. She was only able to save herself from being crushed when she bit the camel in the balls, making it get off of her. Take it from her - Don't climb the fence. This bathroom is one of the nastiest I've ever had the displeasure of relieving myself in. It was absolutely disgusting. One of the urinals was broken to just flow water incessantly, and the whole place reeked of urine. The inside of the rest stop is filled with trinkets from LSU and Louisiana. If you need some refrigerator magnets with crawfish on them, this is a good place to stock up before you're back in Texas. They were serving food here, but after seeing where the cooks wash their hands, I decided I wasn't hungry enough to risk it. I also wonder what the 'lounge' is out in the parking lot. read more

It was recommended to us by a friend to stop here and see "the world's most photographed tiger". I went on the website to do some looking around and I felt (by just looking at the website) that it would be a good tourist stop so the boys could see the tiger. Had it not been for the signs saying it was the Tiger Truck Stop, I would've thought we were at the wrong place. It was not what I expected. The store was a bootleg convenience store and there was a restaurant in the corner behind that. Everything about this place looked and felt dirty. We did see the tiger. He was laying down and it looked like he was trying to sleep but with so many people there making car calls at him, he stood up and started walking back and forth. I feel bad for him but if the owner has permits for keeping him there, it must mean that he is doing a good job taking care of him. read more

Was kind of skeptical when I drove up, but with some semi's parked there,I figured it must be good. I had the 2eggs with hash browns and biscuits. Can't believe how big the plate was. Food was great. Good food, pleasant service. Have enjoyed eggs & alligator sausage with some great homemade grits. They have a specialty we : red beans & rice with alligator sausage. We have almost every time we stop. This time however, I tried the beef tips with potatoes & carrots over rice. The beef was tender, mostly bite size & a generous serving. This is more like me a beef stew though served over rice. Still good. Hot tea could have water that was hotter though. They don't have any machine dedicated to hot water, just a coffee pot. Not sure, but their sign says RIP Tony, Loved Always.....: Tony the Tiger has died. Just checked with their staff; Tony died October 16th, 2017. He had been sick, so they put him to sleep. We will miss him, he was one of the reasons we stopped to visit. read more

Alright, bare with me here. This place sucks for a lot of reasons, but it's something you just have to see. It's filthy. The pumps were covered in grime. The floor in the shop was so beat up and dirty it looked like dirt. There's a trailer outside of the tiger cage that looks like it came straight from Breaking Bad. It's disgusting. Wear gloves and keep the purrel handy. It's populated by weird people. There was a guy in the candy isle who had about a dozen kitkats lined up on the floor. The cashier looked like she was terrified of being stabbed (as well she should). The other guy behind the counter wasn't wearing a shirt and had knife hanging from his belt. He looked like a fat, cracked out version of Crocodile Dundee. Nothing works. About half of the pumps on the non trucker side were not working. The people inside couldn't scan a coupon for a drink that they gave me. That didn't matter though because before I could pay the power went out. That's when the shirtless guy behind the counter yelled "AW SHIT! THE JENNYS GONE OUT AGAIN" which brings me to my next point: It's powered by a generator. I don't know why. I guess they don't have power out there. But you know what they do have? A fat fucking tiger that hates you. This cat is so out of shape and dirty. He looks like he has given up on life. I guess pacing back and forth in 50 foot cage with a dirt floor and a dog house gets old after a while. There is a bunch of hilarious propaganda about why the dirt meth tiger should be kept there and not go to some nice tiger rehab. I've uploaded a picture of one of the shirts you can buy. There are also some nonsensical signs about how other places would feed the tiger poor defenseless bunny rabbits. I don't understand the point of that. I guess bunnies don't mix well with the steady diet of meth and depression they have the tiger on. So, in conclusion. This place is the absolute pits. It doesn't even deserve one star. It's so bad you HAVE to look. read more

I've been here a couple times & each time gets worse. When I first used to stop, the appeal was the tiger; however due to some recent controversy, idek if he/she is in there. Sooooo yeah!!!! I stopped once because I was pressed for a bathroom; hello worst mistake. This was the nastiest bathroom on this side of heaven. I mean really. First, I had to go inside this old grease, pork rind smelling facility to get the key to use the bathroom, then once I had the key, the bathroom was greasy, tiny, & didn't even have soap or paper towels. I mean so much for the 'employees must wash their hands before returning to work' sign that's normally posted in the bathrooms. I was appalled. I've not stopped there ever since. I'm not sure who is stopping in & keeping this place afloat, but I pass it by & only see it as a familiar landmark. read more

My friend had a tire burst on the way home driving cross country. This was the nearest repair shop and the man in charge (I wish I knew his name) was very kind and helpful to her. He did everything he could to get her back on the road asap and safely. He went above and beyond to help her out. Most disgusting restroom I have ever saw. I travel the country for a living and have seen some pretty gross places. This one wins the award. The restroom looks as though it hasn't been cleaned in months. The stall doors were broken on both stalls. One was completely unusable due to someone having a poop explosion all over the stall. If there were more than 1 person in the restroom, you have to dance around each other to wash your hands or to gain access to either of the stalls. The health department really needs to pay this place a visit. read more
