This place is dirty and the food is cold. Do yourself a favor and go to taco bell across the street. At least their food is hot and made fresh. The "queso" is so runny and disgusting and the chips are way too salty and thick. I wish we had a chili's in this area because this place would go out of business. Fresh food, the staff comes around to get refills and collect trash. I had a huge serving of nachos, had to take home more than half of it! Kids meals were perfect size. The sauce choices were plentiful, beer is available for purchase. If I had to make one complaint, it would be that some of the nacho chips were really salty. Everything we had here was amazing! Got the street corn quesadilla, chips & queso, and churro bites. Everything was hot and super fresh, the flavors were amazing! LOVED the garlic chicken on the quesadilla. Even my kiddos who are picky eaters loved everything! The churros were served with 2 yummy dipping sauces- strawberry and chocolate. Both were a huge hit! Great location and glad to see more restaurants opening in south shore area. The parking arrangements are terrible and you will always have trouble finding a parking spot. They greet you as you walk in and are attentive, the cashier was knowledgeable and helpful suggesting menu items. Food was delicious and the selection of hot sauces to sample was good. I had a chimichanga rice and beans as well as a side of chips and queso. I will eat here with family, friends and if I am close by and in the mood for Mexican. Yum. Thursdays are burrito day at our house, thanks to their Thursday specials. Burrito, chips, and a drink for $7.49. These burritos are awesome. Parking is good, staff is friendly, and service is fast. Minus a star for an incorrect order last time we went. I'll give an updated review once I give TF's menu another try but first stab was so-so. The good: 1)This site clearly puts a premium on customer service - we were greeted upon hitting the front door and helped patiently with our order as we were first timers. Staff asked if all was OK while we were eating and helped with refills. 2)Churros were warm and worked excellent as a palette cleanser. 3)I can see from the specials the time to go is Tues or Thurs to get the bill down so we'll take advantage of that next time. 4)Chicken tacos I ordered were just OK...wouldn't take them over Chipotle for sure. However, I was eye-balling the philly steak flautas my daughter ordered...I probably should have gone that route and she said they were the bomb. Noted. The not so good: 1)Parking at this location is awful. Went right at opening time (11a/Fri) but actually had to drive around until a spot opened despite what seems like a vast parking area. I guess everyone is parking to eat @ First Watch? Big hassle. 2)Not wild about that "tip" line when I pay with credit card before I've actually been served. Not a major thing...I'm willing to tip but it's always awkward as I want to see how my service is at the table before I actually do my tipping, y'know? 3)Was looking forward to the sauce bar as I love the spicy stuff but this was probably the biggest let-down. Something like 15 sauces and I tried just about every one and ALL disappointed. I ended up eating my taco dry. Next time I'll bring my packets from taco bell I guess. My advice to Tijuana Flats is to forget about these manufactured sauces with the dumb names and work on some good hot, medium, mild in-house sauces as clearly more doesn't necessarily mean better. First time to this location. I was very impressed from the moment I walked in. Very friendly girl took our order. We went outside and grabbed a table. The food arrived very quickly and everything was perfect. They came outside at least 5 times to check on us and get drinks. Went here for lunch with my daughter, my friend and her daughter. The service here is impeccable! As soon as you walk in the door you are greeted and the people here are so genuine. They wiped down a table for us that was better for the high chairs. I love how the people ask if you need any refills, or anything while your eating. Made it a meal with rice and beans and Diet Coke. Hubby got the Baja fish tacos. My meal was fine, nothing to shout out about but ok. I liked hubbys fish tacos a lot, and will definitely order them if we return. I'd say my meal was one step above Taco Bell. I LOVE what this restaurant looks like inside. Think contemporary meets Tijuana! Concrete floors, crazy colorful murals painted on the walls, plenty of seating, and a good sized sauce bar. It was very clean as well. On Tuesday, I went here because my fiancé told me about the Taco Tuesday special they have here, which is two basic tacos of your choice (no specialty ones), chips, and a drink for about $5.99. I never been to a Tijuana Flats before so I didn't know what to expect. My first impression when I walked in was that it was laid back. You went to the cashier up front to place your order (I got one hard shell taco w/ ground beef and w/o tomato, one soft shell taco w/ steak and w/o tomato, and queso with my chips ). Afterwards, you have a seat, they call your name, you signal the server where you are, and they bring your food to you on a tray. I only had to wait about 10 minutes for my food. All the food is amazing! My hard shell didn't get soggy like many taco places. The meats were very tasty and not super greasy. And the sauces at their hot sauce bar are super good (and spicy). Plus, you buy a bottle of the sauces you like at the restaurant. I'm definitely going to be coming here again! read more

I ran into this place today and gave it a shot. I was impressed by the overall package of the restaurant. The interior was very clean and very hip. The atmosphere was appealing and cool. The staff was extremely involved. We were greeted at the door and walked through the process and what their location had to offer. The manager, cashier, and server were all involved and made you feel like they were there to make your stay comfortable. The food was fresh. Rice bowl, queso and chips, and fish street tacos all were great. Fresh ingredients. Prices were fair for portions. My friends that love this place talk about how great the food is here but when give it another chance I always walk away disappointed. The food is bland and the ordering process does not flow right. Let me start by saying that when this place first opened up a couple of months ago I would have given it 4-5 stars...now after our last 2 experiences, they get 2 stars. My boyfriend and I went together both times and both times he has ordered their new "street tacos." The last time he ordered them they came out and the corn tortillas were stone cold. The shift manager Did the right thing and went and had it remade and she personally brought it out and they were nice and warm and not falling apart. That was about a week ago. Today we went back, I ordered the chimichanga and it came out missing the Chipotle sauce. I was so hungry I didn't even care...I just went over to the hot bar and got some hot sauce and put on, problem solved. My boyfriend had gotten the street tacos again, when he ordered he even said "make sure the tortillas are hot...." He took one bite...stone cold again. He talked to the male shift manager, who did the reorder and knowing from what my boyfriend had told him...make sure the tortillas are hot, otherwise they fall apart." New order comes out...still cold. Almost like they had been in the refrigerator cold! My boyfriend has the manager come back over again. At this point manager already has a "refund receipt" in his hand and has refunded back to our card without even asking us....OK #1: we did not ask for a refund....just make the food right and make sure it's warm. #2: he starts to tell my boyfriend to next time "try something else on the menu or ask for different tortilla...." Ummm street tacos do not come on flour tortillas! Didn't even address the issue and then flipantly tells us to "order something different." How about you as a manager solve the issue and make sure your kitchen staff does the right thing? When somebody sends something back because it's cold, make sure it's warm when it comes out the second time. Just a suggestion. Not sure if we will be back. read more

Tijuana Flats has finally opened near me and I couldn't be more excited. If it's Tuesday, you'll likely catch me eating tacos from here from their Taco Tuesday special which includes 2 tacos, chips, and a drink for $5.99. It's a great deal considering the tacos are massive. This location is not as big as others and the line to order is pretty close to the front entrance, so be ready to wait outside if you go on Tuesday or Thursday (Burrito Thursday). They have a lot of selections when it comes to sauces and the good thing is that this location has it in a sort of round-a-bout, so no need to wait behind someone to get that delicious vedalia onion sauce. Staff is always pleasant and willing to help, and you'll likely need help if you come when they can't find a table. at a peak hour. Lots of parking outside, next door is a First Watch and its nice that they close early because I've seen overflow of customers sit there when there are no tables available. read more
