We came in around 8:30 (they close at 10), and it felt like the staff didn't want us there. They were in the back smoking when we arrived, and the food we received seemed like leftovers; cold beans, dry rice that was probably scraped from the bottom of a pot, and barely any chicken in the burrito bowl. There was legit only four bite sized pieces of buffalo chicken inside the bowl. We were also given the wrong dessert. The restaurant looked nice, but the food and service ruined the experience. We were there for lunch on a Tuesday and the cashier told us they had a special, 2 tacos, chips, and a drink, so that's what we ordered, plus a cup of queso for $2. I came for Taco Tuesday with my mom and aunt. My aunt wanted to come here to get nachos. There was a deal for Taco Tuesday of 2 tacos with a drink and some chips for $6.99. I ordered a chicken taco and steak taco. The restaurant had a hot sauce bar with like 20 different hot sauces you can put on your tacos. So I found a hot sauce I wanted to try on my tacos. I enjoyed the chicken taco I ordered but the steak was very dry in the steak taco. We also got chips and salsa for the table. It was a huge portion. That was really good. For dessert, I ordered the churro bites with caramel and chocolate dipping sauces. The churros tasted burnt. They were disgusting. I was so disappointed. My mom and aunt enjoyed their meals. We used to love Tijuana Flats so writing this review makes me sad. We visited on a Saturday evening and there was only one other couple seated. That should have been our first clue. The pros: the waitress was really nice and the restaurant (what we saw of it) seemed clean. The cons: the food has really gone downhill. The chips were so salty they were close to inedible (we scraped the salt off). I spent an extra $2 for a very small side of rice. The rice was literally crunchy. Like, break your teeth crunchy. I spent an extra $2 for a very small side of refried beans. The beans were so dried out you could probably use them as spackling. The burrito was "ok". I don't see this restaurant surviving unless big changes are made. I hope I'm wrong. read more

I've been curious and stopped by for a snack and a drink, and will not be back. First, it was not obvious that I was supposed to order at the counter. I stood up near the counter for about 10 minutes looking confused before anyone addressed me. I wasn't sure if I should sit down or what. Then they asked if I needed a menu, when there wasn't a menu posted behind the counter. How else am I supposed to know what you have? lol. I was just there for a drink and a snack, so I asked for a margarita (it was on a sign). The person helpfully said they were wine-based, which I'm glad she warned me because I don't like those. It would've been worse if I'd ordered and paid for a margarita and then found out it was wine-based. Yuck! Then I pivoted and asked for a negra modelo (which was also on the sign)! She then told me that they don't have that beer. The only beer they have is Coors and Miller. Period. They had lots of kinds advertised on their sign. I eventually settled on a Diet Coke and chips and salsa. The chips and salsa arrived quickly enough, but the chips were bland and the salsa was watery and had a bad flavor to it. We stopped by Tijuana Flats for lunch while visiting a friend in Tampa, and I was really impressed. First, by the way we were studying the menu, it was obvious to the workers that we had never eaten there before, so one of the staff brought us out some chips to munch on while we were trying to decide--very cool of her. She explained the menu a bit, made her recommendations, and left us to pick it out. When we went up to order, the other woman working was also really nice and patient with us as we asked her some questions about ordering. My husband got a steak burrito meal and I got a chicken bowl. We got their trio appetizer (chips with salsa, guac, and cheese sauce) to share at our table. I thought my bowl was fantastic. Everything was fresh and had good ratios. Between the serving size of the bowl and the chips there was too much to eat and I ended up taking half my bowl to go. I visited my friend and he had some solid food spots picked out for us. Tijuana Flats is one of his go-to spots, so we decided to check it out for lunch. The staff was excellent. They kindly greeted us at the door, handed us a menu, and grabbed us some chips and salsa while we were deciding what to get. I went with a steak burrito and my wife went with a chicken bowl. They were huge, and we left stuffed. We also signed up for their e-mail club and received a code for a chips trio, which had more salsa, guac, and a cheese cup. Everything that we tried was very tasty. The staff was fantastic as well. I hope that this place eventually makes its way up to NY because I think it would do really well here. Love this place. I have been to this chain in multiple locations in Florida and one in Indianapolis (Fishers) Indiana. The young lady that took our order at this location needs to learn to how to talk with customers and slow down when repeating an order back. We don't work here. We are not as familiar with the menu as you and are not just a number. Orders two orders of dos tacos . They were great. Did order the queso . Which was very over seasoned. Talked to the manager and he agreed and did refund the purchase and offer something else, which we declined. This was appreciated by us. The stupid part, during this refund process, the same young lady that took our order and spoke to fast, had to rudely interrupt us to show the manager a small thing she found on the floor. She was asking what it was, which he entertained her and said he did not know. She persisted with him and I told her it was a eyeglass screw driver. Honestly this would be a 4 or 5 star review as food was great in general. Annoying young lady that only cares about herself and what she finds in the floor - actually she was not , her behavior was. To speak so quickly and have no regard for her manager speaking with a customer and no regard for the customer is narcissistic behavior. Tijuana is one of our go to fast food places. Especially since covid. We have done their delivery and curbside and always have a good experience. Even though we would go quiet a bit in college I always enjoyed other places for free salsa. However, since we downloaded the app I found their Tijuana trio to do the trick for salsa queso and guac and we always take advantage of their kids eat free offers when they come out. We have also ordered their take home taco kit before when we had friends over and it was great. If you want something with a little kick try the chipotle chimichanga, it was pretty good. read more

Husband and I went here last night for the first time, we have always heard good and bad things, as always it depends on the day and what staff is working. Last was very good!! We got the Thursday special burrito and chips and drink for $7 wow what a awesome deal and if was much food, can't pass this deal up. At the end of putting in six orders I asked if I could pay and she said "you wanna pay over the phone? So you wanna do curbside?" I said "sure" then she said "well we don't do that..." lol well okay I just need to pay now. She told me they can't take payment over the phone? So if I was doing curbside you could but now all of a sudden you can't? I told her I wasn't picking it up and someone else was. She put me on hold...for three minutes...then hung up on me. It's been a while that I have been to Tijuana Flats and I now remember I enjoy it more than the typical Moe's and Chipotle. I don't usually care for chains, but this local chain has it all. The customer service was excellent especially outside which honestly is not usually the case anywhere but it is here! I ordered the mahi fish taco salad and was impressed by the amount of fish I got and the seasoning on it. The salad dressings I picked where excellent as well - avocado ranch and southwest vinaigrette. My hubby got a norrito bowl(burrito bowl) with steak and it had a good amount of steak, guacamole was included too. The rice was flavorful. I don't usually make a big deal about the chips and salsa but the salsa was fresh and I hadn't had such good salsa in forever. We had the rudest server and cashier EVER. Since she took our order she had an attitude. My mom forgot she had a free dessert and when she order it the girl rolled her eyes. When our food was ready she threw our plates on our table and never came back to ask if we needed anything else. We waited over 1-2 hours and she never came. We had to ask for a to go box because the girl kept ignoring our table. Meanwhile, another girl cleaning table was so nice and got us what we needed. Of all the locations I've been to, this one was the worse. If you don't want to work there, maybe try leaving? But treat your customers good. Cravings had to be satisfied! We used the curbside pickup for our order. We picked a time and when we arrived our order was ready and hot. Yay! I got the taco salad with black beans and extra guacamole. This was a huge hard shell bowl with a salad with all the fixings inside it. It was super tasty. I ate it so quickly that I forgot to get a picture of it. Sorry. My kids got hard taco kids' meals. It comes with a drink and sides of the kid's choice from a selection. Again, they really had a wonderful time eating theirs as it was gone before I could get a picture. That should be a testament of its own. This location is tucked in a strip mall by Sam's club on hwy 56 in Wesley Chapel. Staff was friendly whether we ordered. We ordered two items To go and it was ready in about 7 minutes and was delicious. My only complaint would be the staff were giving out new t shirts and they were literally yelling right across the restaurant at their coworkers right where I was sitting. The staff member did realize what she was doing and apologized but customer service and awareness was lacking at that moment. I'm ganna say probably the best queso I've ever had. As for the main course you basically can't go wrong with anything their. Quesadillas and flautas are my my personal favorites. Ambience great with music. Not to loud so you can have a convo...great hot sauces with many different scoville levels...I had a blackened chicken and ground beef taco with non lard refried beans and Spanish rice. Wife had the Philly cheesesteak flautas. Son had the ground beef nachos. With out a doubt 4 out of five stars! The staff were informative and attentive to all the customers while we there. Seating was plenty and there were tv's for my son to watch some baseball while eating great food. The food was fresh, hot, and had great flavor. I would have to give the ground beef a 3 out of 5 as it was a little greasy but it was still very flavor-able! The have craft and domestic beers. The place was very clean! I would however recommend a place to throw trash away for customers who like to clean up after them selves...(alike when a customer needs to throw away a runny nose from all that great scoville sauce!! ) All in all the manager was seen and attentive to customers and assisting his staff...
