Soft beef taco, chicken enchilada combo with rice and beans
Dana H.

I've been wanting to try Tijuana Taqueria for a while. It's a bit out of the way at the east end of Placerville on Broadway. I ordered a 2 item combo dinner to go. I ordered a hard shell crispy beef taco and a chicken enchilada. It came with rice and beans. When I got the order home, I discovered a soft taco and not a hard shell crispy taco I had ordered. Bummer. Everything else was accurate. The soft beef taco was good and tasted fresh but it's not what I wanted. The chicken enchilada was spot on. The mild salsa on the side was watery and also spicier and hotter than "mild". The Mexican rice was excellent and so were the beans.

Steak burrito and the Fish taco plate was so yummy and filling

Being that this is the only tacoria in Sly Park, for 3yrs now my family and I have enjoyed going there! Kid friendly and huge kid plates my sons loved their tacos and chicken nugget meals(sorry no pictures were taken for the kids plate

Unassuming place with amazing good, the salsa bar with chips has a nice variety of salsas! These tacos were stuffed full, can't wait to go back!

Our waiter was terrific. I ordered Rojas chicken posole. It was served in a big ole bowl that was bigger than my Charlie Brown head. The broth had a good flavor. The shredded cabbage was served already mixed in the posole. The posole was topped with chopped onions, dry oregano, and chopped cilantro with lime wedges served on the side. I'm used to everything served on the side including the cabbage. I like to control the quantity of toppings. A bit of a control freak. Next time I'll ask for the items on the side. The posole had a lot of shredded cabbage and hominy. Each spoonful had a textured crunch from the cabbage. Slurping and chomping my posole. The hominy was soft and tender without being mushy. The complimentary chips n salsa were divinely delicious. Salsa was packed with flavor, nice thickness. No watery soupy salsa here. The chips were crisp and light. This Paco's is a sit down casual restaurant while the one in Pollock Pines is counter service. Both have a fun luchador theme that's understated without being outrageous. This location has a bar in the dining room shared space. The atmosphere can get rambunctious. Not rowdy but rambunctiously loud.

The other person kept vanishing while I was looking at the menu, like they didn't want to wait until I was ready to order. We were the only customers there, so the vibe felt a little awkward. Prices were higher than expected (like for fresas con crema), but I'll admit, it was pretty dang tasty after the cream unfroze. The nachos were great - flavorful. Although, the horchata... quite terrible. Tasted very watered down & like someone mixed it with powdered sugar. I prefer horchata that's creamier & has some cinnamon. Complimentary chips looked like they'd been sitting out a while, as there was barely any left. And like I mentioned, the food took a bit to come out too. Not sure I'd go out of my way to stop here again, but if you're already in Placerville and craving a snack shop fix, it's not the worst option.

We made a reservation for our party of 10. Glad we did because this was a poplar place and filled up quickly for lunch. I've never dined here before, not because of any particular reason. But glad I gotta finally. Good food, outstanding customer service, and relaxing welcoming vibes. Service was awesome. Our waiter was on it! He had an engaging personality and did a superb job. Got drinks out, food came out hot n quick and all about the same time, refills attended to without asking, and they even allowed us to split checks (we asked for 3). Awesome! We received complimentary chips and salsa. No complaints there. The salsa was flavorful with a nice thickness. It took me forever to choose... the options were plentiful. I ended up ordering the lamb shank. $23.The shank itself is a distinctive flavor cut of meat. If it's cooked right, it should be moist, fork tender and infused with the slices used. Well ... they did it right! Spiced and marinated giving it flavor to pair with the shank's natural distinct flavor. Mmm. The plate came with Mexican rice and refried beans with flour or corn tortillas. The rice was fluffy. The refried beans were tasty. Prepared well, no aftermath toots. The restaurant is not new but well kept and maintained. Relaxing, family friendly vibes. The interior decor was festive. Beautiful carved wooden booths. They have a separate bar area offset in its own room. The women's restrooms had beautiful colorful tiled bathroom sinks. Fun pop of color.
