Chicken Fajitas...YUM
Lori R.

Amazing! Our company was kind enough to bring us this truck for a recent lunch and all of us were blown away by the quality, taste and quantity. Do know that as great as the tacos are (that I saw and heard about)...they also offer burritos and my personal recommendation...the chicken fajitas! (see pic)...oh so flavorful chicken with peppers and onions and their green hot sauce is phenomenal. I have passed by this truck on Capital Blvd many times and have now learned that passing it by is a mistake. STOP and enjoy!

Al Pastor and Veggie Taco

Food Truck Time: El Rey del Taco at Bombshell Beer Company Order the tacos!! I was able to try the Al Pastor and Veggie tacos, they were both so fresh and delicious. Can't wait to try more, next time I'll do my research to see what food truck is at the brewery so I don't eat dinner before.

Convenient location on Capital Blvd, we ordered a few tacos along with a tlayuda. Wait time was around 10 minutes, more or less exactly what we were told when placing the order. No seating available during our visit so we took back to the office to enjoy. The tlayuda was enormous and enough food to be enjoyed over at least two meals if not more. Tortillas are handmade and fantastic, some of the best I've had from the local taco spots. A lot going on in the tlayuda so it was a bit difficult to pick out and comment on the individual components. My dining partner enjoyed the tacos and we both look forward to a future visit to explore the menu further.

Great authentic taco place I would HIGHLY recommend you check out. They are typically at the gas station on S. Saunders street in Raleigh on the weekdays. It's my usual gas stop and I always see it and that particular day I was craving tacos so I decided to go check it out. The tacos were reasonably priced from $2.25 to $2.50 and I've gotten the chorizo, asada, and carnitas on their default corn tortilla. I never liked corn tortilla and always opted for flour but these were delicious. You could probably ask if they had flour tortillas I have never cared to. I also tried the torta for the first time and that was good too! Looks can be deceiving... the taco looked basic with just the meat, onions and cilantro (no frills) but man it was so flavorful and filling! I would recommend at least 2. I loved the grilled pepper and onion they put on the side, it's a nice kick and good for people who don't want those toppings. Their green and red hot sauce is also good. Trust me, these are the best quick stop tacos for the price in the Raleigh area!

Horchata; DELICIOUS

A+ taco truck! I basically inhaled the tacos carnitas before I remembered to take a photo. They were DELICIOUS. The meat was tender and moist and you really could tell everything, from the tortillas to the veggies, were super fresh. Horchata is super tasty and basically Christmas in a cup. I definitely recommend stopping by this truck for lunch, dinner, or every taco Tuesday.

Best tacos ever!

BEST TACOS EVER!!! ...and only $2 bucks each! Do yourself a huge, huge favor, and find the El Rey del Taco Food Truck. **Whispers** ...here's a secret, you'll find it from 7:30 PM to 2:30 AM on Friday and Saturday nights in Raleigh located just east of Wake Forest Road on Hodge's St. (a few clicks south of Trader Joes and half a click north of Mami Noras). Ignore the address here on yelp as it is outdated. I have had the: Barbacoa, Chorizo, and Carnitas Tacos. All are da Bomb, but that Chorizo is divine. They also have: Pollo, Asada, Al pastor, Lengua, Cabeza, & Tripa Tacos. The tacos are served up with grilled onions, lime wedges and sliced radishes on the side. You can get some more limes and radishes from the little self-serve table they put out in front of the truck. I recently discovered this truck thanks to Katrina S., and every time we have been there they are very busy; however, the service is still fast. Just hand over $2 cash per taco and don't expect a lot of conversation unless you speak Spanish. These tacos are the real deal! Next time I want to try their tortas. "Taco Tuesdays" you say, fugetaboutit ! Taco Fridays and/or Saturdays is where it's at!

Love it

Best Underrated Food Truck Tacos ever. Google Map Mami Nora, the food truck location is across the street of Mami Noras and in front of Reign Club. It can be confusing finding this good truck, but it's worth it!!! I've been here in NC for 4years and I'm a regular customer, they're business days and hours are FRI and SAT 7:30-3am, SUN 7:30-1am. They only operate 3days in a week til past midnight which is great for people who parties or who gets off from work late. But on the weekend you'll see a very crowded busy street just to get some tacos, it's amazing how crowds go out for this food truck. They have the freshest tacos I've ever tasted, it's so delicious!!!! I remember my first time, I was confuse because there's so many options, but all of them are so damn good!!!!! it's very flavorful, my favorite is their beef, AL pastor (pork), chorizo (Spanish ground pork which has little bit licorice taste), tried their lengua (pork tongue), and their chicken. Every kind of meat has their own distinct taste. I recommend to all kinds of tacos to see which one you like the best for 2$ only. it comes with diced yellow onions, fresh cilantro, sautéed onions, sautéed jalapeño and green and red salsa(hot). Highly recommended!!! come by and see them!!!

Torta Hawaiana- $9 (HUGE)

This is a legit Mexican taco truck, no Tex-Mex here. We booked these folks to supply lunch for our medical building a few weeks back. Went online to https://roaminghunger.com/ and requested a truck and these guys were the first to reach back out to us. They arrived on time and were ready to go and offered short wait times with fast and friendly service. I enjoyed my meal and thought $9 was average for what I got. I don't know what they put on their chips but they were delicious. Portions were on point and everything was super fresh. Some of my co-workers complained about their offerings but I feel those folks are used to American-Mexican food so this truck might not be for everyone. If you are looking for some legit Mexican food I don't think you can go wrong with these peeps.

Tlayudas are very very delicious, authentic flavor and home made tortillas too

It's usually outside El Deseo, which is a bar/ pool hall that's frequented by the local Mexican community. I guess the idea is that you can go in, drink, dance and whatnot, and when you get the munchies, you go see the dudes int he mystery machine outside. Well, I have never set foot in El Deseo (though T and I plan to do so just to check it out), but we have driven up the road just to hit up the truck pulled up in front of it. Place your order and the gentlemen inside will proceed to make your food up a la minute. I usually opt for the carnitas tacos, and T for the chorizo tacos, although their tortas are big and quite serious -- perfect if you've got a little buzz going and need an edible to quell it. When you order the tacos, the gentleman will generally ask if you want onions and cilantro. Needless to say, do it. It adds that little crisp bite that takes your taco to the next level. El Compadre tends to open on Friday and weekend nights, usually around 10pm. The hours may not the specific, but trust -- drive by and see if they're open. It'll be well worth it!

The fries are thick and starchy but cooked well so the vast majority are crisp and a little crunchy on the ends. They salt them really well, which goes a long way with thick cut fries. I heard the milkshakes are a great choice, but I wasn't nearly hungry enough, so I went with a soda fountain Dr. Pepper instead. Nice crunchy ice and a well stocked syrup supply gave it that classic drive-in soda quality. Super friendly staff rounded out that experience as well. It's not the best burger I've ever had by any means, but it really does give a warm sense of nostalgia, even for a place I'd never been to before.
