Tikka Indian Tandoor is an Indian eatery found in the food courts at Potomac Mills. The menu offers curries, kabobs, wraps, as well as samosas, samosa chaat, biriyani, and mango lassis. After some shopping, we decided to give this place a try, ordering the Butter Chicken - described as chicken being cooked in a 'sweet buttery gravy', this was definitely not the case - the curry itself was just inedible. It was a mixture of tasting acidic, almost carbonated, with an overwhelming amount of sweetness, but not have any flavors. The butter naan was really thick and chewy, and the side of the chickpeas was heavily tomato-based. After a couple of bites, the meal was tossed. Ok so this is a mall food court spot BUT the nitter chiken with spicy garlic suace and pickled onions on the side was ON POINT! Generous portion, rice was perfect texture and the seasoning was legit! THREE WORDS REVIEW!! AVOID THAT PLACE !! I didn't even eat!! It started by them having a picture for a bowl on their screens! I asked for it and there was no bowls! It was only to go boxes with 3 divisions! It doesn't fit the food like a bowl! I let it go then I saw the employee taking a dirty used plastic glove and wore it and she started scooping!! Spent almost $17 on a pretty disappointing meal. Samosas we're good and definitely the highlight of the meal. They came plain and I wasn't offered any sauces with them. I asked and got cilantro and tamarind. I asked if the chicken tikka massala was white or dark meat and was told by the surly young man serving that it was white. Not true! Some white, some dark and a lot of chewy gristle. Yuk! My meal was two thirds rice, one third chicken. Certainly not value for money. Pro: Good butter chicken and good portions as well! I got three big scoops in my bowl. Con: The sides dont make sense for an Indian restaurant. Their sides are more like toppings for a wrap but not for butter/tandoori chicken. The naan's were also a huge disappointment. I was looking for something tasty in the mall and ended up here after deciding I didn't want to pay $13 for a bowl of ramen I watch the worker bust open out of a $1.00 packet I could buy at Target. So glad I did, the chicken was just as good as the chicken you get at a restaurant. They serve the naan hot and fresh and the portion size was enough for lunch and dinner. I felt the portions were perfectly matched for the price and the service was as friendly as can be. Very polite and professional. Price wise, it can add up pretty quickly. Once you add extra sides, like samosas and extra naans (which were delicious), drinks and a mango lassi, it totalled around $40 for two people to have the best possible mall food. Taste wise, I felt there was room for a little more heat and the flavors seemed to rely on the curry sauces and not the prep of the meat, but thats okay.. The girl with glasses and curly hair was really nice and helpful, and it was my first time trying Indian cuisine so I needed all the details in which she provided. The food is good, especially for a food court restaurant. I've been here a few times since they opened. The problem? Their staff is new and untrained. Today I was helped by a woman who said it was her first day and she didnt know what all goes in the dish ordered. I stood at the counter for 25 minutes waiting on my wrap, and someone to show her how to ring it up. While I waited, two other parties ordered, paid, and were given their food.
