I had the pleasure of speaking with Brad Nelson, who was extremely thorough in explaining their process and why their pricing was much less than my Doctor's Office. It was immediately apparent to me that he not only knew what he was talking about, but had a real passion for his work. I immediately booked an appointment. Upon arriving today, I was greeted by an exceedingly friendly and accommodating staff, who showed me to my seat and offered me coffee. Within moments, Mr. Nelson came out, introduced himself, and explained the process. After some friendly conversation, Brad molded the orthotics to my feet and went to work. He made sure that I didn't leave until my orthotics were perfect. The entire process was very casual and comfortable. I left feeling extremely fortunate. Though White Bear Lake was a bit of a drive for me, it was absolutely worth it, and am so glad I just stumbled upon them on Google. He answered questions patiently and was never patronizing. Lynn, his assistant always returned calls promptly and answered any questions I had. She has since left, but my brief interaction with his new assistant does not lead me to believe she'll be any different. I have only two complaints about this office. First, when I called for my initial appointment and ask for an appointment as soon as possible, they got me an appointment with Dr. Meyer. The problem was, he was a hand doctor and not a knee doctor. I was just getting an assessment at the time and when I decided to do my surgery, I had to do a new assessment with Dr. Weiss. So basically, the money I paid for my first appt would have been just as well served being flushed down the toilet. Even though I asked for an appointment as soon as possible, I would have been willing to wait a week or two if I had known knees was not Dr. Meyer's expertise and that Dr. Weiss would have ended up being my surgeon anyway. My other complaint is that the fee for the surgery covers the surgery itself and follow-up visits. What they neglected to tell me was that the follow-ups were covered only up to 6 months. When Dr. Weiss asked to see me "in three months", the appointment ended up 1 week after the 6 month time frame. So I had to pay for it (insert flushing noise here). Overall, I was very happy with Dr. Weiss and the work he did on my knee. I'm slightly perturbed at spending more than I needed to in this office, but now I know what questions to ask. I have had 4 different epidural/steroidal injections in the last 3 months and they have caused significant pain for 2-3 days afterwards and I have missed a lot of work due to this. If I was given something right away for the pain, it would have been easier to get through those 2-3 initial days and I would not have had to miss work. I also do not like the fact that it can be difficult to get any discharge instructions or work restrictions after the procedures. Whenever I leave any Allina clinics, I am given specific notes and after visit summaries. I am a person that wants everything documented so that if I have questions afterwards, I can refer to the paperwork. The doctor's and other staff members are very friendly and usually seem to care about your health moving forward. The reason why I say usually is because I have felt not listened to on a couple different occasions. I know what is going on with my body and I need to be heard regardless of other past circumstances from their other clients.

By phone we also had good experiences with people in the Cambridge office and with Heather in the office in Buffalo. The bad: Communications systems are awful. I had a very minor issue with fewer filters sent than were billed for. An extremely small item which was a minor thing that they refused to address. when they did send the two missing filters they charged for them again. They don't answer the telephone and don't return phone calls.
