The cone was a little stale and the scoop was a standard scoop, albeit a bit on the smaller side. Not sure if there is a washroom available and didn't see store hours, but there is an ATM if you need cash. There's also ample parking in their lot. A good place to stop off of 104, especially since we were heading to Halifax from CB.

This spot has lots of parking, two walk-up serving windows, and ample outdoor picnic tables. A large digital screen displays the menu - you'll come for a scoop of hard Scotsburn ice cream, but be enticed by a plentiful list of additional options. including: ice cream sundaes, milkshakes, soft serve and a few savoury (hot dog, anyone?) items as well. The scoopers are very prescriptive and measured; great consistency. At $3 for a small (two scoops, both conservative in size) there are better value scoops elsewhere, but I appreciate the consistency and breadth of flavour choice that Corina offers. Always a reliable ice cream option!

They post their soup schedule on their Facebook every week, and we lucked out because my wife has a nostalgic soft-spot for their soup of the day that day, corn chowder. Soups come with a biscuit or roll, and I doubled down on biscuits. The corn chowder was still piping hot after taking everything home and getting set up to eat. The soup was was creamy and smooth, with pops of sweetness and texture from the corn. The biscuits were buttery and lightly flaky, and while the exterior was a bit more firm and roll-like than a typical biscuit, it didn't detract from it. I had also picked up a loaf of whole wheat bread, which was light, airy and moist - great for sandwiches or on its own! On a return visit, it was another batch of soups - the daily special of clam chowder and the alway available, tomato cheddar. The clam chowder was thick and chock full of bits of clam and perfectly bite-size chunks of potato. I went for the roll this time, and it was light, smooth and great for dipping. My wife's tomato cheddar was a great, simple soup. The namesake flavours were front and centre and it had a silky mouthfeel from the added fat of the cheese, but the sauce didn't break and have actual pools of grease. For dessert, I bought a couple of their iced cinnamon rolls. They were light and airy - definitely head and shoulders above the grocery store ones - and a quick run through the microwave softened that butter/cinnamon/sugar mix wonderfully, without completely liquifying the icing. A Slice of Home is a fantastic addition to both the neighbourhood and the town as a whole, bringing thoughtfully made goods at affordable prices.

We came in the early afternoon and it wasn't overly busy. Two servers didn't look overly interested in being there and were slow as slugs. There was a bartender mixing drinks who looked annoyed and a cook in the food truck who was the only one actually invested in what he was doing. Seating is flimsy and grinds on the concrete floors when you try to move. Tables were crammed quite close together because a musician eventually came in to set up. The space just generally looks poorly used. Our server took a long time coming over to bring us a pitcher of beer and then again to take our food order. The glassware was dirty so she apologized and brought new glasses. By the time we poured the beer, we noticed the pitcher was even filthier. Not sure if they ever wash them. The food is just ok. Nothing to write home about. Portions are on the smaller side. $14 was the Super Bowl special for a small bacon cheeseburger with nothing else, no side. $19 for fish and chips is a bit of a better deal because the fish is big but it's quite greasy. Fries were hard and stale and not really a generous portion - don't opt to pay $4 for them as a side! We watched the cook push out orders and wait around for the servers to pick them up. He'd look out trying to get their attention and seemed completely unimpressed with them. Other than brining our drinks and food, the server didn't bother to come by once in the hour + we sat at the table. When she finally came for us to pay, she seemed terrified to have to talk to a human. Overall, just a weird vibe for a place like this. This could be a great spot but it didn't leave a great first impression. Might give it one more shot next time we're in town, but we won't be ordering food. We'll see how long it takes to get an (overpriced) cocktail.

If we needed anything extra for them to run smoothly. I have screen shots if anyone would like to see the emails back and forth. Two days before we agreed to meet up to show them the property, as it will be new to them. We agreed 5PM. at 5:30 I emailed to see if they were coming. Annie called and said she got held up and wont be able too. But everything is a go. I asked if they needed extra plates, cutlery, glasses. and She said nope all good. Email confirmation is added. The day of the wedding, they showed up at 4:30PM when dinner was suppose to be for 6PM.(Kinda Late to be coming to a place they never been before) Their stove wouldn't light (Propane) blamed it on the voltage at the venue. That we didn't give them the right voltage. Don't know how that will affect the stove but okay. They asked the venue for more knives. to be exact 60 were asked. and the venue had to take knives from other cabins that weren't involved with the wedding. Charged $250 for coffee and tea. That was never served. (blamed it that there was no set up for it) When we asked if they needed anything and they said no. Food was cold. as they had to cook everything at the venues owners main house. And take a golf glcart back and forth to serve the meal. Dinner was 2 hours late. All servers weren't in uniform. They were all confused what was happening. We have multiple people with allergies and were given a plate with their allergy on it. When I given each table what had allergies and what meal was going where. The owner is super rude. e-mails back and forth were very unprofessional. If anyone would like screen shots. please don't hesitant to contact me. As I do not want this to happen to anyone on their weddingday,As he did ruin my dinner and we had to change the timeline of our speeches, first dances and everything because of his mistakes. many people had to wait to eat at the midnight meal. as their chicken was raw. please think twice before hiring him.
