For our project we replaced the foundation and rebuilt our entire basement, coverting it to an additional floor. Our house went from a 2 bedroom 1 bath to a 5 bedroom 3 bath with an additional large family room. We worked very closely with Chris Burnham and his superintendent, Chris Donatelli, during the entire process. First off, Chris gives realistic expectations regarding budget, time estimates, and potential problems or issues that might come up during construction. Some other contractors under-bid to try to get business. Also more inexperienced contractors don't anticipate all of the potential problems that can arise during construction. Chris is respectful of your budget but honest about what to expect in terms of budget and time estimates. Chris and his crew were always professional, prepared, and on time. During the remodel they worked very hard to help turn our vision into a reality. Our intention was to create a seamless flow from one floor to the other and make the remodel look as close to the original 1920's construction as possible. It was therefore necessary to hire carpenters, brick workers, and other skilled craftsman for the remodel. Chris only hired the best people, so we know that every element of the remodel from plumbing to carpentry was done to the highest standards. Chris is a perfectionist and has pride in his work. He made sure everything was done correctly, and fixed things without prompting that we did not have the expertise to notice. We moved out for 6 months of the remodel and had to move back in before construction was completed. He was extremely accommodating and went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. On the rare occasions that there was an issue with water or heating, he came on nights and weekends to fix the problem. He even came on a weekend to let us into our house with the spare key when we locked ourselves out of our house one day! Chris did not disappear toward the end of the remodel and made sure to complete everything on the "punch list". He has even come to fix the occasional issue or problem months after the construction. The best part is that he doesn't do it grudgingly- he has true pride in his work and wants his clients to be happy with the finished product. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Chris Burnham, Chris Donatelli, and his whole crew. They have the talent and experience to carry off any type of construction project out there, no matter how complicated. If you hire them you will not regret it!

Normally a company gets better with years of service, I can't say that this is my experience with Delta Hardwood Flooring. Johnny is a nice enough person but he handles the bids. I can't vouch for his crew as the work is inconsistent. It depends who you get.

It should've been a red flag for me when the wood Delta had delivered was in the wrong size and finish then what I had ordered. But my friend used them and said other than leaving the place a bit messy, she was happy with her finished floor. So I said not a deal breaker and took another day off work to have the correct wood delivered. Delta said they could finish over the weekend, in 2-3 days, since it was a small space, prefinished, glue down application. They came Saturday but then all of a sudden said they had to glue down only part of the floor and come back on Monday to finish the rest "for the glue to dry so they can make sure the floor is installed straight". I think they more likely had a competing job, but long story short, it took them until Thursday (so I had to delay my trip out of town) to finish the floor. Cons: - I came home one day to find them installing in the kitchen without tearing up the linoleum and without installing underlayment which is against condo rules. I made them tear up the install and lay underlayment but I never would've known if I didn't come to check on them. And other than the cost of the wood, it ended up being over $6 per sq ft so definitely not cheap. I witheld last payment and made them repair the scratches in front of the fridge. However, Delta claims they didn't do it since that wasn't part of their 'procedure' which pissed me off. I don't care what your procedure is, I came home to find a not so brand new floor; so are you implying I did it? There was just a LOT of excuses throughout the whole process. * "Oh, the wood you wanted is too narrow so it took longer (so a half inch narrower than what you thought led to 6 days instead of the 2-3? 2.5 inches isn't THAT narrow. And it was frustrating to come home on a delayed job to find one guy took off at 2:30pm on multiple days). * "The guys didn't break the toilet 'cause otherwise they would've told me (then who broke it?!). * "It's not our job to clean when we leave, you should hire professional cleaners for that (are you kidding me?!). * "The brick on your fireplace is uneven and we don't undercut brick" (sorry, but I don't think it's the client's responsibility to subcontract your work out, if you can't do it, hire someone that can...I'm paying you to get the job done. p.s. here's a video of how to do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV2G7gJh2es). Anyway, I felt like I had to post the review since all the other reviews are so different from my experience and maybe they'll make some improvements. Could be the experience is better with on-site finished, nail-down installations but definitely wouldn't use them if I knew what I know now. I felt like I constantly had to be on-site to keep an eye on them which is a job in itself, and overall, an 'Eek!' experience but bumped up a star since they did fix most of the issues (although they tried to take shortcuts for repairs like only re-installing baseboard on half of the wall since you have to look to the side of the fridge to see the rest --seriously?!) and since Johnny's so nice (but he won't be on-site, you'll just deal with him for the payments/specs).

My folks had done an addition to the house in the late 1970's and without question it was time for the windows & doors to be replaced. We wanted to get some Pella Windows, and per Pella's website, JP Lindstrom was a certified contractor for their product. From the start, communication was great with Jeff. Jeff arrived at my dad's home with a Pella representative and measured the windows and doors. I received the bid and we went ahead with the project. Due to the holiday season, we waited until the first of the year to start work and work they did. I live in Sacramento, but my dad lives in San Mateo, and from the get go, I was getting daily reports of how great they were, how they took their time, and made sure everything was perfect. My dad could not say enough about them. I went home this past weekend 1/28/12 and upon entering the house, I could immediately see to the family room and was OPENED JAWED at the look and the work in which they had completed the job. THESE GUYS ARE ARTISTS. Truly, I was just STUNNED at the beauty and workmanship. The window frames were beautifully done as well as the installation being flawless. The finished product looked as if they had always been there. All I could do was stand and look, say "WOW, HOLY COW", "WOW, HOLY COW, I AM JUST AMAZED". Still am. We even removed a wall and installed new support beams. The work was completed in 4 months and that included a pandemic related delay. The entire team is highly skilled and professional. They offer smart suggestions and good alternatives. And I can't say enough about the quality of their finish work - tile and carpentry. We hired Artifex again for our deck and railing replacement project and experienced the same level of professionalism. There literally wasn't a room in the house that we didn't touch. We originally got 4 quotes on the job and Mike's quote was in the middle range but it was the most complete quote, and he also spent a lot of time even before we signed the contract answering our questions and walking us through each line item. For two people who had never gone through a major renovation before this was incredibly helpful. He originally told us it would take 3 - 4 months to complete the job and everyone who we talked to, who had been through a renovation, told us to expect at least double that. True to his word, Mike and his team completed the work in under 4 months and this was after we were delayed by two weeks when they had to fix shotty work that had been done before we moved in. In addition Mike was very conscious of our budget. He helped us pick cost efficient products and often helped us located less expensive alternatives when he knew of a good option. On the other hand, he and his team are very committed to high quality work and would also let us know if it was worth it to spend the extra money on certain items. If there were places where we could save money by doing the work ourselves, Mike worked with us to let us do that which was a huge plus for us. Throughout the process Mike and his head carpenter Luiz were responsive and did a great job of keeping the whole team on task. In addition, either Mike or Luis were on-site monitoring the work almost every day. This is not a company where you never see the general contractor. I also have to say they were both incredibly responsive to our calls and emails. We are both extremely detail oriented people and Mike took the time to answer all of our questions and he responded in a timely manner. The final product couldn't have turned out better. We have had people tell us that our house looks like it came out of a magazine. And, they are right...it turned out amazingly well, on-time, and within budget!! The company did the classic thing of taking twice as long and costing twice as much as quoted but when they were done, the work was terrible too! The walls began cracking almost immediately and we had to have other contractors in to fix all the errors they made. Their people smoked on the job site (so, in our home) and whenever we would try and talk with company representatives, they would try and gaslight us into believing it was somehow our fault. I cannot say strongly enough that you should hire literally anybody else.
