I spent about an hour on the phone with her going over different options. It was like I had been a customer for years and I knew her personally. We were laughing, empathizing, and problem solving together. She wasn't just throwing a plan at me and telling me that I was stuck with it. She found us the perfect fit, and we even got life insurance coverage! All of it still less than what we were paying, with better coverage all around and added security for our big family! I had decided to change companies, and tried Allstate, Progressive, Geico, and Hartford. All were cheaper. Evidently State Farm has decided to go 'agentless', like Geico and the others. My agent is leaving, as will I. Why any company would give up its competitive advantage--agents-- is beyond me. read more

Our household has been with State Farm for as long as I can remember. Tim Slesk has handled it for years. His office insures our home, boats, cars and truck. They always take care of me and if I need to talk directly to Tim they are prompt at getting me to him (and he returns messages). We are 73 years old and am totally satisfied with any and all the services he and his office provide. They even provided me with a method of remembering to pay my premiums - auto pay. They are getting one star because it's not possible to get negative stars. 15 yrs ago my husband and I were newly married, I was only 18, my husband 19. We signed up with State Farm through Tim's office because my grandpa worked for State Farm for more than 40 yrs and I figured we could trust them. Even after we moved to Kent, we did all our business still with Tim's office, because they were so nice and helpful. Always remembered me. Had our renters insurance with them too. Then, somewhere around 2005-2007 my apt manager sold me his newly deceased wife's scooter/moped. It was old and didn't run well, but I had been on disability leave since 2003 and I had a hard time getting out of the house. To even get dressed. But I'm from a family of bikers, so I was excited. It was just 50cc, went 35 top. But it gave me something. A couple days after I got it, I went crap! Insurance. So I called Tim's office. It's been a while so I'm not positive, but the name Lisa is stuck in my head, so maybe that's who I spoke to. I'm not sure of the name. But I am sure that after telling her about my new toy and giving her all the details, she told me that I couldn't get a policy on it, that no one insured scooters under 150cc, which is when you need a motorcycle permit. She told me that the scooter, being only 50cc, is insured like a bicycle. Under my renters insurance, which was also with them. She told me to just keep the receipt, but as that one goes (it was almost 20yrs old) I probably wouldn't get much. Eventually the thing gave out, and time passed. My health got worse at one point and I was in a couple accidents, in between multiple hospitalizations for near fatal issues. In the meantime, StFarm raised our insurance super high, and we had to switch to progressive for our auto. StFarm still had the cheapest renters, even though it went up with our move. By 2013 I was finally showing physical improvement, but mentally I was a mess. Fighting for my life for a decade had taken a major toll. Remembering from before, my hubby borrowed from his 401k and bought me a scooter, a 2007 that had never been used. It was beautiful and I felt so lucky to have a guy like him. Of course, it being a 50cc, we didn't get auto insurance on it, although my husband updated our renters to cover it. And I started getting out, going for short rides, then longer, and before we knew it, I was cleared to return to work. And that scooter and I were inseparable. I rode it during winter, I rode it after I was ran off the road and broke my arm and permanently screwed up my shoulder. Then, 2 weeks ago, coming home from a job interview in Seattle, where I couldn't get to on my bike, I looked over to make sure it was ok, and it was gone. It wasn't anywhere in the large apt complex, wasn't towed, it was stolen. I did what you do, I called the police, alerted the bike shops, etc... And after a week, I called Tim's office and told them what happened and I wanted to file a claim. They said that I didn't have auto insurance on it, and I explained what I had been told. We played phone tag a couple days and I finally got to talk to Tim. He said that I must have misunderstood, and that no notes were in my file. I told him what I was told. I explained just how much that scooter meant to me, and how there is no way in hell I could replace it, so if I was told that I needed auto insurance I damn well would have gotten the insurance. I said that some one in his office had told me this, had assured me many times that this is how scooters are insured. And since I was with these exact people for 15 years, so I trusted her. I trusted them. And if she was wrong, that's not my fault, and I told Tim that he had to stand up and honor what his employee had promised me. I was actually in the middle of talking about it with him when he hung up on me. I waited less than a minute and then called him back, only to be told he was on an important call, but he would call me back when it was over. That was last week and I haven't heard back from him yet. So I'm going public. I'm tired of being lied to and screwed over. He is taking advantage of my illness that makes it so I don't remember the date and I think it's Lisa, maybe Tina... But I do know what I was told, even repeated it to other people. I have been loyal to them for 15 years, and this is the loyalty I get in return? Bullshit. So, I would have to say, negative 3500 stars, which is the price of my lost bike I will never have the money to replace, and negative 15, the number of years I have been giving them my money without ever making a claim. Well, now Tim has to step up. His office, his employee, made a statement when asked about something on behalf of the company. His company. Now he has to honor it. I've kept up my end. Very nice and helpful when contacted. Website list they open at 8:30....hmmm Hawaii time maybe? I have attempted a few times in a span of a couple years....my calls go automated. They have bankers hours safe bet to reach them after 11am...not very reliable if you need answers or schedule your day around them. read more
