I was in the mood for something outside of the box last night and came across this restaurant. It's been quite a while since I last had Thai food and was in the mood for something filling with a kick of spice. And boy did I get my wish. I went with the drunken noodles (seafood) which had shrimp, mussels, king crab leg, scallops etc. I asked for spicy and must have forgotten how spicy Thai food can be. All in all the meal was delicious other then the sore tongue and mouth I had after devouring the meal. I for one enjoy a spicy meal but this was almost like biting into a very hot pepper with almost every bite. Was very good but note to self next time will be taken the notch down one on the spice to mild. I gave this particular meal 3 out of 5 stars for the reason because the seafood did not taste to fresh to me. But I will be returning to try something else on their menu. read more

I ordered take out for Vegetarian Tom Ka soup and vegetarian green curry. The soup's flavor was good but the vegetables were overcooked, mushy and dull in color, and there was no "protein" in the soup....apparently I wrongly assumed there would be bean curd/tofu added since it was the vegetarian choice. The green curry flavor profile was "off"....it taste like it was loaded with Chinese Five Spice rather than having a Thai flavor profile; the vegetables were also extremely overcooked, mushy and dull in color. I called to discuss the issue but did not get very far with the nice gentleman that answered the phone...language barrier and he was busy. I feel as though because I am American they may not think I know good, authentic Thai food from a bad, poorly made version of Thai food. I have never ordered take out from them and I doubt I will again unfortunately. Another thing that was worrisome was the uncleanliness of the restaurant I noticed when I went in to pick up my order...the floor is very tattered, sticky and the kitchen (right there at the counter) appears to be dingy, greasy, etc....there was an older man making my food, answering the phone and a younger man in the back chopping red meat and having an extended personal conversation on his phone....I could see large gallon sized plastic spice jars above the prep area, which made me feel as though the spices are probably not "fresh" and the curries not "homemade"....to some extent I expect a degree of "this" worn out look from a hole in the wall eatery, but do expect the food to be like I am eating at my Thai grandmother's (if I had a Thai grandmom) kitchen table...I guess what I am ultimately saying is this....there appears to be no pride or joy in the food or the restaurant. read more

Who would believe there are two excellent Thai restaurants in Westminster? We've now been to both, and we have a winner. While both have good food, I prefer Tim Thai based on the size of the menu, over all quality, taste, service, and flexibility of the chef (who makes EVERYTHING to order, which is a plus for my vegetarian wife and daughter). I love this place!! I am not even a huge fan of Thai food, the the owners are so nice it makes you want to keep going back! I don't love curry, but they have a spicy basil variety of entrees that are really great. The desserts especially those involving banana (fried banana) or coconut (custard) are really good. Decent food, poorly managed service. We went (wife and two kids) on a Friday night at 6pm. When we got to the restaurant there were about 5 tables (half the seating) full. We sat down and ordered chicken satay and edamame for the kids as appetizers and two entrees for dinner, a deep fried duck dish and tofu panang. We got the entrees at 7:20pm, the Satay came at about 6:45pm, and we were told at about 6:30pm there was no more edamame. The made chicken panang instead of tofu. The waiter was very polite and the food was decent (he gave us a 20% discount), and explained they had gotten slammed by carry-out orders. To be frank and if the owners/operators read this, we appreciate that concern, but when I dine in, I do not care at all about your carry out business. It took 80 minutes for us to get two entrees when the restaurant was half full. We didn't get told food was unavailable for 30 minutes, we got the wrong food after 80 minutes, and we saw at least one group that arrived ten minutes after us us get fully served ten minutes before us. We had a great dinner. Ordered my favorites: Sate Chicken as the appetizer and chicken green curry as the main. The sate chicken was very good. Four strips and it was almost a meal. The green curry came out slightly dryer than I prefer but our server immediately order some more of the sauce to enhance the bowl to my desired. The taste was great! I can't believe I haven't reviewed Tim Thai. For the last three years this place has been our go to restaurant in Westminster. It never fails to deliver. I do wish the inside of the restaurant was a bit more posh and they the kitchen was closed off from the seating area. I'd consider dining in. But we've always just carried out. Favorite dishes include steak of Siam, pad see yew and chicken eggplant. The pad garlic is another household favorite. And you can never go wrong with any of the apps especially the satay. read more

Disappointed given we used to be willing to drive 20+ miles to eat at what was once one of the best Thai places around. Took an hour to serve us, in the meantime we suffered through caustic air caused by a mix of smoke and spice. We came in and started coughing and others were doing the same this was worth putting up with when then food was good but... The food itself was mixed, Pad Thai pretty decent but the "braised" soft shell crab was deep fried either too long or in oil that was too hot, hard as a rock and there was so much salt I couldn't eat the sauce. Hope they get their stuff together but we'll eat elsewhere. read more

Have yet to try a bad dish; the pad Thai, basil fried rice, curries, and drunken noodle are all outstanding. But try the khao soi! I've never seen that on a menu before. This hole in the wall establishment has fantastic food! The lunch specials are great and the curry noodles so warm with a hint of spice. The ambience left a bit to be desired and they didn't have the lights on in half the dining area which made it feel like it was closed. I have tried going here a handful of times and it was closed every time except this past experience. I'm Laotian and grew up with my family owning both Lao and Thai restaurants. I was very surprised that I found this hidden gem in Westminster! I've come here multiple times and ordered plenty of dishes and I was never disappointed once! If you love pho and don't make it yourself at home...you will never find better pho anywhere else! Hands down! No need to put any other ingredients to make it taste better. The only thing I had to add was peppers because I like my food spicy. My go-to order is the Drunken Noodle, which is excellent, but their curries are all just as great. Swing by in the afternoon on a weekday for the lunch special, which comes with coconut soup and a spring roll. This is one of the few restaurants in town that can serve truly spicy food, if you ask for it, and the waitstaff recognize me and know to make my order as hot as possible. So wish we had the experience others here had. We had 4 appetizers, 5 entrees, and 5 desserts and none of it was exceptional. Appetizers were the most successful with dumplings and calamari being the best. We tried the pineapple fried rice, vegetable pad thai, a coconut curry dish, and beef and asparagus. (Can't remember the 5th one.) No one was wowed and felt it was marginal compared to other Thai restaurants we've tried. There was something off about each item. We were also disappointed to find out that the star entree -- the crispy duck -- was sold out the day before. The staff were very friendly but at times the service was excruciatingly slow. Dishes weren't picked up from the table. Communication was difficult at times. We hope to try it again but only if we can get the crispy duck. read more

This was my first time trying authentic Thai cuisine and I was impressed. The atmosphere at this restaurant was quiet and relaxing. I was greeted by my waitress promptly and it didn't take long for my food to be served. I ordered Curry Puffs and Drunken Noodles with Shrimp. The curry puffs were good.
