Probably closer to a 2 1/2 star review. The service was efficient and friendly, but the food and atmosphere need to step it up. Overall the place is dark and somewhat uninviting, no ambiance. I definitely wouldn't bring someone here on a first date. At least it was clean! Food was meh. I had the Panang curry with chicken and it was honestly pretty bland. I ate it, but would not order it again. The heat was good. My wife got the chicken pad thai which was a bit too mild for her, but the flavor was ok. Friends and I are regulars here and it's our absolute favorite. We've dined here at least 15 times in the past two years. The restaurant staff know us and treat us so well each time. Great portions and price for authentic Asian food, and the presentation of the food is absolutely stunning. Highly recommend the shitake soup, crab rangoon, calamari, pad see ew, fried banana, or fried rice. The shrimp tasted a little fishy but the chicken, duck, and beef are awesome. They also do a great job with groups. We've come in groups of 6-14 and they handled the crowd just fine. It looks sketchy from the outside but it's absolutely worth giving it a try. read more

This is my family's favorite restaurant, and by far the best Thai food we've ever had. I've brought many friends to come try Tim's food, and every one of them has said they would travel hours away to come eat here again. All of the food is authentic and very flavorful. No delivery option. And I specifically asked for no spice on my meal. Door dash delivered my meal and it was super spicy. When I called to tell the restaurant that, the guy basically told me I was a liar and there was no spice on it. He then told me to come pick up another one. My mom wanted to eat here to get pineapple fried rice dish. We have eaten here one other time and just wasn't very impressed but decided to give it another try. Dish was nothing to write home about. My Shrimp Pad Thai again just ok. The only Server young and not attentive. Had to flag him down several times to try and order things. Several items we tried to order they were "out of today". I went here for my first time for lunch today. I opted for order pickup since I was working. Their lunch menu should have been either a soup or salad with the entree but I wasn't given my salad. I opted for medium for the spiciness level, it was mild. It probably helps to mention I ordered the Pho but it definitely wasn't Pho it was more like Pho noodles with stir fry and soup. With the meat and veggies tasting like stir fry that's fine whatever but the flavor of the "stir fry" with the pho soup made it taste very odd. I gave Tim Thai 2 stars because the noodles were cooked properly and even in a to go container it wasn't difficult to get out of the container. read more

DELICIOUS!!! Stopped here for an early dinner after visiting the Sunflower Garden. The owner was very nice. He was the chef, server, bartender, and cashier. Good thing it was us and another table! Ordered the Kanom Jeeb appetizer and you can tell it was freshly made. The dumpling skin was not thick like store bought dumpling skin. Had the Pla Aok Taek, which was fried flounder with squid, chicken, and cashews. Both were delicious and the Thai Iced Tea was a great chaser. Highly highly recommend. read more

SOO DELICIOUS! When we first drove by we decided to take a chance. From the outside it doesn't look like much and when we walked in there was no other customers. Of course this made us a little nervous. They greeted us and were so polite and had great customer service. The waiter was amazing and after 15 mins of looking at the menu (we never had Thai before) we ordered. The food came out and once we took a bite, it was LOVE. Must try. I love this place! Never bad food, ever been 16 years. Looks like a hole in the wall place but the food speaks for itself. Kanom Jeeb is beautifully made with the right amount of dipping sauce Chicken satay, chicken is tasty within itself and them they serve with a brilliant peanut sauce and a wonderful cucumber salad Crab ragoons are made with real crab and perfect mixture of cream cheese, As always the chicken pad thai and drunken noodles are wonderful and tasty. Pretty good Thai food, but different than a lot of other places I've been. Their green curry was more like yellow curry and noodle soups seem to lack a bit in flavor profile. However, their Tom Kha Gai soup and various fried rices are delicious. Service is friendly but always seems rushed and overworked. Stopped in at this older downtown restaurant in Westminster recently. My wife has many food allergies and we normally can find meals for her without much change needed in Thai restaurants. Have to say that after reading some recent poor reviews I was skeptical as to what we would encounter especially when we walked in and it was empty. What I found was like the movie The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. So we are told we can take any table we like and choose one close to the entrance. We are brought waters with ice and lemon in them. Now I usually don't like water with lemon but after the first sip I realized why it was in there. It had to be the worst water I have had in a restaurant in many years, if not my lifetime. I immediately told my wife not to drink it and we both pushed the glasses aside. That was The Ugly and honestly my skepticism turned to concern for our health with the meal. Our waitress came to the table to take our order and we asked if one of the beef specials had onion in it. She had to check with the kitchen except it took place right in front of us at the counter. While there seemed to be some language challenges the answer was yes and my wife looked for something else. Also, after inquiring about onion in the spring rolls we chose to forgo an appetizer. I did order a Thai Tea for myself. We ended up ordering the drunken noodles for myself and my wife got the pad see ew. The Thai Tea was a bit sweeter than usual for me plus was lighter than what I normally see but was welcome after the water. While sitting there discussing the water and other things about the restaurant we both recognized The Bad, which was that our table top was rather sticky to the touch and hadn't been cleaned properly. Of course, this caused more concern about the quality of the meal we were about to receive. Interestingly, in a short amount of time I was served my drunken noodles with some freshly cut carrot curls. Seeing as my wife hadn't been served yet I waited a bit and then started on the carrots as they looked appetizing but need to add that the dish was still steaming and smelled wonderful. About 5 minutes later the pad see ew comes out to the table, also steaming and we start our meals. I was surprised they didn't come out together but no big deal. Here comes The Good of our meal which if we only consider the food, I would say great. First bite into the drunken noodles I got some noodle, chicken and red pepper. The texture and flavor of the sauce was deep and rich unlike many more looser sauces I have had. Absolutely delicious. There was enough red pepper and tomato so that it lasted with all the chicken and noodles. A very nice balance I don't always get. My wife had a similar experience with the pad see ew. The sauce had a smokey bit to it that was on top of the overall rich flavor that was terrific. The broccoli had a bit of crunch to it as opposed to overdone and mushy. The chicken in both dishes was moist and not dried out. We were both not just pleasantly surprised but very happy with our delicious meals. Matter of fact, we have been in a good deal of Thai places in VA, DC and MD and my wife and I both thought we had one of the best versions of each of our dishes. Oh, did I forget to mention they are nicely affordable? Under $30 for both dinners plus the tea. I do recommend eating here but I would either purchase bottled water (if available, I didn't complain or ask) or bring my own and just hope the cleanliness of our table is not the norm. So sad to say I was disappointed with this restaurant after reading the great reviews, maybe the cook was having an off night. One of my biggest pet peeves is reeking of food after leaving a place and the entire time we were there it just smelled of old grease and burning food. My chicken pad see ewe was totally burnt. The chicken spring rolls tasted like old oil. I will say my husband's chicken pad Thai was ok but not the best. Unfortunately we won't be going back there. The servers were nice and the decor was pleasant, but unfortunately that doesn't make up for the bad food. read more

This is my favorite Thai restaurant in Maryland! Thai is my favorite cuisine type and I have been missing it as a transplant from one of the homes of traditional Thai cuisine, Portland OR... Until I was lucky enough to try this gem of a local Main Street restaurant! I have left every other Thai restaurant I have tried in Maryland disappointed about the bland flavors and high costs, but have never left this place sad! Tim Thai is run by a wonderful family who are always so friendly and accommodating! It is a great place, albeit casual, for lunch (cheap, yummy specials), dinner, or take away for enjoying on your porch at home! Stand out dishes include the eggplant tofu dish (perfect Thai eggplants sautéed with wok fried tofu in a delicious, rich and savory black bean sauce). I never order vegetarian dishes but I have ordered this over 20 times because it is just that good. The drunken noodles are delicious and with a very hot spicy (which I love but be sure to order mild if you aren't used to typical Thai spice!). Another favorite is the green curry- so authentic and always delicious and hot with perfect steamed rice! They don't have it on their menu, but their chicken with sticky rice and papaya salad that they served at the flower and jazz festival was sooo good. Summary; casual, friendly place with excellent service in house or for take away. Absolutely delicious, authentic Thai food served by a truly talented chef. Inexpensive and perfect- even my non Thai eating husband enjoys their Thai basil friend rice! If you can't tell I have a crush on this place! read more

Our new favorite Thai restaurant, and we've only had two entrees and two desserts. "Thai Classic Noodles" and "Drunken Noodles (Chicken)" are amazing, actually very similar to each other, with a bit more going on in the former. Large portions, we only ate half and will have the rest for tomorrow's dinner. For dessert, the classic custard was to die for, warm, sweet and with just the right amount of salt to bring the creamy sweet flavor forward. Sticky Rice and Mango were as good as we've ever had. Thai Iced Tea was the perfect accompaniment to these dishes. I just wish we lived closer to historic Westminster so we could go here often. You can find good places everywhere in the NW, but this place seems like it doesn't belong here in Westminster, and that is fine by me.
