For breakfast, there is actually a menu where you get to choose from quite a few choices which is very rare in a b&b. Everything was delicious. He also provides snacks and wine every day in the late afternoon and there are always sweet treats like cookies and brownies available as well as coffee and teas. There is a small gift shop where they sell some Lakepoint Inn shirts, sweatshirts and mugs as well as bottles of wine. There are so many wonderful seating areas, all with views of the lake whether you want to sit in rocking chairs or comfy wicker chairs on the porch or at some bistro tables on the back patio or Adirondack chairs by the fire pit. As a free service he also offers hour long rides on his pontoon boat every morning (weather permitting), you just need to sign up. There are also kayaks and canoes available to use for free, you just need to sign a waiver. Scott is a gracious host and the Inn is wonderfully appointed, you lack for nothing. The only complaint I would have is that if you stay in the Vagabond Room, be aware that because it is on the ground floor and right beside the kitchen, you will hear people talking and the hustle and bustle of breakfast being prepared. Not a problem if you're an early riser at about 5:30. But the room was huge! And felt very luxurious with bookshelves and a seating area and fireplace. We will definitely be returning to this Inn!!!!!! I can't say enough great things! Oh, also the location is fantastic, you're near everything!

It featured three beds, a master bedroom with a private deck, a large main deck, a spiral staircase, a dining room table, mini fridge, hot plate, two futons, kitchen utensils, a small TV with DVD player and coffee making equipment. There are lots of places to lounge both inside and outside the tree. Outside the treehouse there is a fire pit which we used for s'mores and potatoes. There is a place to purchase firewood right on Ella's property. The property has a .75 mile trail through the woods with numerous animal discoveries along it. My son and I enjoyed trying to find them all and predict what would come next. The property also had many fairy gardens around it. There is also a fort building area giving families many options to do outside. Ella's is an awesome, upscale nature experience in the Deep Creek area. We will definitely return during our next visit to Deep Creek.

I love getting away and being surrounded by nature and this by far is the place to do just that. We stayed at the gathering tree... inside and outside the tree house exceeded our expectations. As soon as we stepped in we felt relaxed and excited. We explored some nearby state parks, enjoyed a fire outside, sat on the back deck to drink our morning coffee, went for walks, played games and enjoyed just being in a treehouse! We had a fantastic visit with Karen and Don. What a hidden gem tucked in the valley of the…read moremountains. The river is directly across the street and perfect for trout fishing. Karen and Don gave us a walking tour of the area and showed us all kinds of interesting flora and fauna. We had such a wonderful time relaxing, hiking, and enjoying the scenery. They had great tips on what to do in the area. Don gives fly fishing lessons and is a patient teacher. We had a fantastic breakfast and lots of interesting conversation. I think Karen and Don know something about everything. It was great. I was sorry that we had to be on our way. The good news is this is a 4 seasons area. I'm sure it's beautiful in the fall and is a short drive to Wisp Resort for winter skiing.

We stopped by one afternoon and Don took time to give us a full tour of the cottage as well as the bed and breakfast. He even gave my husband a fly fishing lesson. The only thing I wished for were a couple of chairs in the room so we could put our shoes on, and more seating area on the upper deck would also be nice. The inn only offers continental breakfast and access to local places to eat were sparse, but we made do. The owners also have other properties in town, like the campground and the local boat livery for trips on the River. Nearby, you have access to trails, Cathedral State Park, and Blackwater Falls State Park, Canaan and Snowshoe ski. All are reasonably close by. The price was reasonable as well. It's not one of the big fancy chain hotels, so if you expect that, you will be disappointed, but if small-town peace and quiet and comfort in a historic location is for you, I recommend the River Lodge Inn. The phone number is 301-387-7633. Interval International suggest that the nearest airport is located at Pittsburg, 110 miles northeast. Be careful not to confuse the Lakewood Resort in Maryland with a similar Lakewood Resort Club located an hour east near Morgantown, WV. The two resorts bear some similarities. Lakewood Resort at Deep Creek Lake is in western Maryland just 45 minutes east of Morgantown WV or 60 minutes southeast of Uniontown, Pennsylvania. Lakewood Resort is located just south of the Mason Dixon Line. Additional driving times are as follows: three hours northwest of Washington, D.C., five hours west of Philadelphia, and six hours east of Cincinnati. Lakewood Resort seems to be a comfortable motor trip from many eastern and Midwestern cities. The Interval International website provides eight accurate pictures of this townhouse timeshare. The indoor pool is located across S.R. 219 and requires a short drive. Families will not want children walking across a sometimes-busy highway. The exterior townhouse photo suggests a "pond" within walking distance of the Lakewood Resort at Deep Creek Lake. This "pond" is actually a very large lake that is named Deep Creek Lake. Deep Creek Lake has been a very popular resort for years. During the winter months, Deep Creek Lake may be frozen and covered with several feet of snow. This is because Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia all are part of the Allegheny Highlands. The Allegheny Highlands are part of the Appalachian Mountains. The Allegheny Mountain microclimate in Maryland's western panhandle contrasts with the state's otherwise temperate conditions. If one arrives from an urban area such as Dayton, Richmond, Washington, D.C. or Baltimore, the Allegheny Highlands offer a superb mountain retreat without the potential elevation sickness that can befall those entering the Rockies. Our campsite was flat with plenty of room to set up the tent and wood stove. Our hosts were very accommodating and let us know where we could get fuel in the area. 10 out of 10 experience. Here you are away from the city, and close to amazing settings. Seeing the stars at night here, is truly an amazing experience! You can tent camp or rent a cabin. There are different sized cabins. My son and I went with the small one. It's basic but comfortable beds. Being next to the stream and trees is relaxing. Camp employee was friendly, and saw lots of beauty here and close by. Only complaint is shower house had no hot water. Yet every campground has its quirks, and am happy to recommend this place.
