Condo 104B. We had a great time. The water is 50 feet from the patio. The property is dated, but that's to be expected. Likely built by Soviet prison architects in the 1970s. The indoor pool and hot tub have some maintenance issues but we enjoyed it. Lots of families with kids swimming. Lots of families in the lake, boating and fishing. Kids on the swings and the beach. We had dinner at Aces which was very good if a little slow. Room was clean, everything worked. I recommend it. read more

Disgusting and unsafe I have to agree with Shelton B.'s review of unit 504 dated June 15, 2021. Apparently nothing much has changed. The unit is not as it is represented online. It is outdated, filthy, unsafe, and should not be rented. The balcony was dirty, spiders and webs everywhere, window had mud splashed on it, screen, door handle, was broken off with metal, jagged edges exposed, one of the chairs bottoms was completely torn out and unusable, another had a rip beginning to form, lamps in the living room did not work and One housed a graveyard of dead flies, carpet was stained, sofa was as hard as a rock, stain on the rug, dining chairs flimsy, FECAL matter on the toilet seat which was painted and that paint was peeling off, doors, delaminating, hardwood floors edges, not finished exposing large gaps, no coffee cups upstairs, broken hairdryer in the bathroom, front door did not lock. At the upstairs landing the first step had a bulge in the carpet causing a hazardous condition for tripping. Someone attempted to fix this by putting duct tape on the edge, which was ineffective. I reported these deficiencies to the front desk. They were very nice and solved a couple of the issues. This unit should not be rented. Shame on this owner for the condition and misrepresentation of the unit. I asked for a refund of part of our rental and got 10% which I believe is a paltry amount given this experience. read more

I almost cancelled my vacation because of the reviews here but I am glad I didnt. We had a great time at 104B. There were really no issues. It was super cold and no reason for us to leave the condo with our baby so we stayed in the entire two days we were there. The housekeeping staff was so nice, the front desk staff was not bad, and the overall environment seemed nice. The only complaint we had was that we found Ace Run to be overhyped. It wasnt great. It wasnt terrible. It was edible. Next time I am just cooking in the condo. We went off season so not much was open but when we go back in summer I will be booking at this location again. read more

When I arrived at the Will O' Wisp Condominiums on Saturday afternoon and checked into the room, I noticed that the patio door on the first floor was broken.  I went to the lobby and  spoke with the front desk person who documented the problem and informed me that the owners were responsible for repairs to their units.  I was surprised that no one contacted me that evening about fixing the sliding patio door. On Sunday, I again went down to the front desk and the lady at the front desk said she had noted the problem with the sliding patio door and it was the owners responsibility to make the repair.  At this time, since it seemed that the front desk was unconcerned about the security issue that the sliding patio door not locking was presenting, I called Booking.com.  I spoke by phone with Vivian, who tried to contact the front desk but no one answered. Vivian suggested I call back in the morning and they would call the front desk at the property again. On Monday, I called back to booking.com and spoke with Montassar.  He suggested that I go back to the front desk and voice my complaint because the property needed to respond and fix the issue.  I did go to the front desk again as soon as they opened and spoke to Dennis.  He informed me that the property has a manager by the name of Jeremy but he was not on the property, it was 9:15am and they open at 9:00am, and he was not sure when he was planning to come to the property. I am very dismayed at the total lack of care for my safety shown by the property and Booking.com.  The bouncing between the front desk and customer service has been extremely stressful and nerve-wracking.  I was not able to enjoy my stay as I was anxious at the thought of someone entering the room through the open door. I am upset that the property and Booking.com have put me through so much stress with no regard to my safety.  I have been a customer with Booking.com for a long time and did not expect such total disrespect and indifference to my situation.  I would like someone to respond to this email and show some concern and understanding of the situation by providing a financial resolution to my complaint. Please note below the review I plan to leave on this property and Booking.com if I do not receive a response to this email: The condominium is in an old building but the unit we rented, 504, was not maintained.  We had hoped to have a very needed girls weekend but the 3 bedroom unit, while clean, was really rundown.  The most serious issue we encountered was a broken sliding glass door that neither the property or Booking.com would take ownership of and fix.  It was my wrong assumption that a safety issue would rise to the top of the list and be a priority.  The other issues were:  every wall needed to be painted and there were even places where the wall was  repaired and repainted with a color that did not match; the chairs need to be tightened up because they were wobbling; there were several holes in the walls, the carpet needed to be a really good cleaning or changing because there were stains; and room with the bunk beds had cardboard on the bottom of the bed.  We did see another unit in the building that was well maintained and realized just how badly maintained the one we rented really was.  Please be weary of renting unit #504 and if you do book a room at this property. Although Booking.com reached out to management; neither Booking.com, Will O' the Wisp Condominium nor the condo owner cares about rectifying or satisfying their customer. I had been waiting to be in DCL on a Wednesday so that I could attend the Will O'the Wisp's PastaMania night. I can't speak for the regular menu during the visit, but the PastaMania was fantastic! For around $14 you get bread, a garden salad (Caesar and specialty salad are $2-$4 extra), and all you can eat pasta. You go up to a pasta station and they have three chefs working three different stations with tons of different meats, veggies, sauces, and pasta types. The chefs were friendly and open to weird suggestions and the food was delicious. It was probably the best meal I have eaten at DCL, I highly recommend PastaMania (Wednesdays only)! read more

I was torn between three and four stars here and opted not to punt with a 3.5. I just can't modify my standards just because I'm not on my home turf. Yes, Washington is full of good restaurants and some may think it unfair to compare a small town resort hotel restaurant to what we have in DC, but the truth is the food here is actually pretty good and I'm not condescendingly going to lower expectations. Plus, I'm sure the view of the lake in the summertime is a major draw for this place. Often when I'm at a restaurant I haven't ever tried before, I order one of my two fallbacks: either salmon or a petite fillet of beef because they're hard to mess up. Will O'the Wisp did a great job with my filet mignon, medium rare just like I wanted. And the baked potato side was surprisingly NOT served wrapped in foil, which steams more than roasts FYI. It was baked in the oven then cut in half on the diagonal and served on its ends. Nice touch. And the side dish of sauteed cabbage and leeks was excellent as was the tomato and crab soup starter. Our food was pretty good but Will O'the Wisp earned its stars on service. Originally we were seated near a very loud Assembly of God group that had been lingering rather loudly from the late afternoon into the dinner hour. They only started to get the hint to leave when the hostess put up a partition next to our table, but they were still too loud so we asked to change tables. Numerous people working there came over to apologize for the inconvenience, including the manager who offered us free drinks (I was going order a Cab anyway) and dessert. Even though our waiter and the bartender took two tries to figure out that tonic and club soda are actually different beverages, overall we had a very nice dinner and a fun evening at a very low key place where they really tried hard to ensure we would have an enjoyable dinner. read more

This is a review of the restaurant in the Will O'the Wisp Hotel/Condo called Ace's Run. It is on the main level and accessed direclty via the front desk. I have not stayed here so have no details on the hotel or condominiums. First off, you should set your expectations. This is not a fancy restaurant. It is located far from a major city. It does not have a discerning or discriminating clientele. On the positive side the drinks are good and the view over the lake are breath-taking. Our bottle of inexpensive Spanish wine was opened through the foil! It was drinkable but at $17 was worth every penny. We ordered a bottle of Pelegreno. It was served room temperature with ice in glasses. The food is of poor quality. It seems that little food is actually "prepared" in the kitchen. I suspect burgers and steaks are but have no first-hand experience. Our pork poppers obviously came out of a box and were dumped in the fryer or microwave. They were inedible. The salad was not distinguished. The dressing of vinegar and oil was excellent and the highlight of the meal. Our meatloaf and potatoes were poor. I think the meatloaf came prepared from a factory and was nearly inedible. I cannot fault them for the poor food quality. Follow up. I received a very nice and apologetic note from the restaurant. They made no excuses for the service lapses but did assert that all their food is made from scratch in the kitchen, I stand by my food descriptions and ratings. I never give bad review, but I'm really disappointed this time. Do not book this hotel, if you really have no choice, make sure they do actually have a room for you. We reserved a lake front condo for three nights for the July 4 holiday. When we arrived, we were told that the condo was only available for two nights. We have to go to anther hotel for the third night. What?! This is ridiculous! How this even possible to happen? We booked our room a month ahead, if the room is not available, why they accepted our payment? Not to mention, when we arrived to another hotel at the third night, they arranged us two regular hotel rooms, with a street view, not the lake front that they promised. My parents took our family here when I was a kid. From what I remember, not much has changed. That's not necessarily a bad thing. It's a bit "dated" - but it works. The building is clean. The units are privately owned, so the decor and quality varies from unit to unit. We had an issue with the loft suite - but the front desk seamlessly moved us to another suite the next day. (That second suite was nicer than the first) Free FAST wireless internet. Great views of the lake. If you just need a "room" and not a kitchen - go for the 7th floor loft suites. They have a great loft w/ a bed - really nice view to wake up to. read more

We were looking for a reasonably priced room on DCL for a friends wedding and found a great one at the Lake Breez attached to Will o' the Wisp. The rooms are very simple and clean and right on the lake. The staff is great and super friendly. I definitely recommend this place if your trying to save some money but still have a great experience at a fun place. read more

I planned my parents 60th anniversary at this restaurant. I specifically went to the restaurant early so I could check the restaurant out and see if it was appropriate for an important event. I told the front desk where I made the reservation that we wanted a reservations for 15 people and that it was a special event. They took the reservation wrote down the number of adults and children and that it was a 60th wedding anniversary. She assured me they would do everything possible and thanked me for thinking of them. When we arrived at the restaurant they sat us at 2 separate round tables. I as very upset and asked them if they couldn't put us at the same table. They said 'no'. They were not understanding. Their attitude ruined a very special evening. We ended up only ordering entrees because of the logistics -- they could have made much more money if they had accommodating. When I made the reservation they gave me a menu and I had already planned on the starters. The food was good. I had sundried tomato and crab soup (more like a crab bisque). It was very tasty. The chef needs work on his knife skills however. The potatoes were cut too large for a bisque -- it would have been better without the pototoes. I also had shrimp scampi and the chef neglected to cut the bottom of the onion. My niece ordered the sesame chicken tender starter as her meal and they were overcooked. My mother ordered the crab imperial. The roumalade sauce was an odd choice - a traditional hollandaise sauce would have been much better. The atmosphere was very nice and if I hadn't had such a bad experience and unaccomodating staff I would consider going back but I will not go back to this restaurant when visiting Deep Creek Lake. On the other hand Pizzeria Uno was very accomodating and did provide a table for 15 a few nights before and lunch when we docked. read more

Great Special Ocasion Place. Best views in the County. Oldest Family Owned Restaurant in Garrett County. Sizziling steaks, tasty salmon, great seafood. They have a comfortable lounge and a nice friendly staff. Pasta Night is a hit and so many choices to choose from. Will O' the Wisp resort has refused to honor a $250 gift certificate which I purchased for friends. The purchase was made in person at the resort. It had no qualifiers and no time limit. When my friends attempted to redeem the certificate, they were told that it would not be honored because the resort is "under new management." Will O' the Wisp has also refused to respond to my queries, or that of the Greater Maryland Business Bureau, or to refund my money. read more
