We had a blast at timberjaxe axe throwing lounge. And let me just say, throwing an axe is allot harder than what it seems. The staff was super helpful and gave us tutorials on how to through an axe. We had an hour to play, they had game ideas already out, we just had to choose one. I think we went on a slow night, we were the only ones there, it was nice to have the place to ourselves. I think they have deals if you go on certain days. Towards the end of the time we were getting into a rhythm and I was killing it. I would definitely recommend stopping by timberjaxe axe throwing and our host was awesome! We will have to come back and bring some friends.

We had a blast axe throwing. This place is super clean and they are super nice. We took my nephew and he had a lot of fun. And he said the chicken nuggets were delicious. We can't wait to go back!

I would give 0 stars if it were possible. I planned a nice date night for my wife and I. The old man lined up a sitter and everything. I did my research, booked a reservation to go throw some axes. My wife and I were both overly excited. We walk up, door locked, nobody home. Nobody inside. We tried calling no answer. We sat in the parking lot and waited. Nobody came. THEN we saw the reviews. And quite a number of people had the same experience. This is a terrible business and completely unprofessional. Never will I ever attempt to go there again.

We kicked axe!!! so much fun great for friends and family! Can't wait to come back! The kombucha was delicious! We played 1st to 51- took some of us a while to get our rhythm but by the end we were all pros. We brought a charcuterie board over from the board room it was perfect. They do have food here. The one owner was super cool and a brought an awesome vibe. He was a great coach preparing us rookies!

I had my first time axe throwing experience here. This is the highest rated spot in the area for a reason. Great customer service, great coaching/encouragement from staff, they are well mannered and charismatic, the facilities are extremely clean/well kept, very affordable rates and it's so much fun. I will definitely come back and I'm looking forward to it. Highly recommend for any first timers in the area wanting to experience this. Or for anyone who's already good at it. Additionally, the website is very user friendly on mobile devices, super easy to reserve your time slot with the number of people and length of the event you can pay online too. So as soon as you get there you can jump right into things.

    Woo hoo. Nice axe!

Great time with Jai hosting our group after hours. We were given personal training and off we went, spending hours having a blast. The food was great and so was his homemade kombucha.

This is a pretty dope place. I was intimidated at first but after we got a quick tutorial from the owner I started throwing axes like a pro. I wrecked my coworkers in one of the games, so just on that alone the experience was worth it. The tic tac toe game is super fun and the strawberry lemonade is good. I'd definitely recommend it as a group experience. Another plus is that learning to throw an axe will help you out in a zombie apocalypse.

Mama Rosa did a little Yelp search and found "Time Out Party and Play" and we executed our plan to check this place out with our little ones. The place had a cute vibe. The one-time open play admission was $15, without the entry to the sensory room. The attendant was very kind and allowed us to use the sensory room without an extra charge. Honestly, the sensory room was my favorite part because the room was actually serene, soothing, and great for kids who wanted to take a break from the physical play. The setup was quite inspiring in that sensory room and I could definitely see it as my ideal room design. Interactive, learning-driven toys were filled on the walls and and it was fun to see the kids jumping on the water trampoline. Patrons were courteous and I could see my older one had a lot of fun. My younger one was slightly timid due his petite size, but he ended up sticking to the small slide adjacent to the large two-story playpen. Some parents were able to "relax" for the time being by chilling at the cafe area nearing the playground. I believe there was a menu available to order the food and drinks in from a third-party coffeeshop. The register, on the other hand, had some pops and juice boxes for sale. "Time Out Party and Play" caters for birthday parties. I took a glance on the pricing poster and it seemed pretty reasonable to me if any parent wanted to plan an official birthday celebration by inviting friends and families. Nowadays the mall has gotten so much more emptier, yet a business like this should be a keeper! We don't live anywhere near the Hawthorne Mall in Vernon Hills, so we will be back when we can.

Well today, my friends, was the day!! We came in about 4:45pm on a Saturday. There were maybe 5 other children playing. I had already checked out the prices, so I knew what to expect: $20 for open play, $28 for open play + drink + toy or $15 for open sensory play (great for toddlers and babies). Although I was initially a little hesitant about the $20 open play fee based on the space, I can confidently say that I got my money's worth, as my daughter was entertained for a solid hour and a half, and still didn't want to leave. The sensory area is a wonderful, quiet, low-light space for toddlers and babies who would otherwise be overwhelmed (or trampled) in the play area. The main play area is great, as you can see your child from just about every angle, and even on a busy day, the space is small enough that they're a safe distance away from you at all times. Adults aren't allowed on the second story of the play gym, but even my reserved 3 year old was able to maneuver most of the stuff on the second floor with confidence and ease. There are plenty of seats and tables for parents to hangout, or for kids to take a break, and cubbies for your shoes (socks only play). Great play space for kids 6 and under, but somewhat older siblings could enjoy the space as well! They offer private and semi-private party packages at a reasonable rate, too! The staff was friendly and helpful, and took the time to answer all of my questions.

From our very first meeting, we were made to feel like a priority. We had felt pressure from other venues to sign quickly or risk losing our date, but Leslie was the complete opposite - she made us feel comfortable, never rushed us, and allowed us to make the decision that was right for us. Choosing Ivanhoe ended up being one of the best decisions my husband and I made. The ballroom is absolutely stunning and truly doesn't need much to enhance it. The large windows overlooking the golf course provided a beautiful backdrop, and the cocktail hour spaces--both indoor and outdoor--were perfect for accommodating all guest preferences. With our large guest list, they even added an extra bar at no additional cost, something other venues charged extra for. Communication and organization were exceptional. Leslie and Claudine were wonderful to work with and coordinated seamlessly with all of our vendors. We never felt the need for a day-of planner because of the level of support they provided. With only one wedding hosted per weekend, we truly felt like their top priority. Being able to drop off décor earlier in the week and pick up leftover items on Sunday allowed us to fully enjoy the wedding day without worrying about setup or teardown. One stressor for me as the bride was the size of our guest list (270 guests), but Claudine worked closely with me using their room-layout program to create a setup that felt spacious and comfortable rather than cramped. Overall, Ivanhoe Club exceeded every expectation. The food was fabulous, from the hors d'oeuvres to the main course, and we received overwhelming positive feedback from our guests. The New York strip option was unique to Ivanhoe and not something we encountered at other venues. Having food and beverage included in the package made planning seamless, and they even allowed us to bring in outside late-night food, helping us set it up and keep it warm. On the wedding day, the entire team was calm, professional, and attentive, ensuring everything ran smoothly from start to finish. We would absolutely choose Ivanhoe Club again and could not recommend them more highly.

I have waited months to write this review and now that my wedding has passed, I wanted to post this…read morefor any couple who might be considering Ivanhoe Club as their venue. It's fairly long so there's a TLDR at the bottom. The venue is pretty, and had a lot of the features that I wanted in a venue: large windows, high ceilings, decent photo spots. I had signed my contract fairly early as my fiance and I got engaged early during covid and at the time didn't know when things would open up. Keith is the event coordinator there and there were some red flags from the beginning that nagged at me, but ultimately chose to ignore. I should not have. There were MULTIPLE instances where I would be verbally or by email quoted a price, that when push comes to shove Keith would change or at least try to when it came down to paying. He quoted us one price for chiavari chairs and put that price in the email, but when we went in to sign the contract and pay the deposit, he increased the price last minute. Since we had signed our contract early, we had locked in a price for meals, but they increased the price anyways and told us during our tasting. Keith had shared that they would meet in the middle for the price that was quoted when we signed the contract and the current prices. We went back and forth in email (which he would either respond very slowly or not at all) to make some changes. A couple months later when we went to pay half of the estimated costs, not only did he not make any of the changes we talked about over email, he also increased the price of the meals per person on our invoice and DID NOT mention it to us. I noticed it when I was reviewing the numbers later and it didn't match up with our previous invoice. I couldn't do anything about it because cost of food was subject to change up to 30 days before the wedding. When we received the estimates for the horsdoeuvres we chose, we found out that one of the ones we had picked that was not supposed to have an upcharge did in fact now suddenly have one. When we went to pay the remaining balance 2 weeks prior to the wedding, he then tells us that the cost of the chiavari chairs might have to go up because of their vendor increasing prices. We had anticipated this possibility which is why we had it written into our contract for an exact amount. When I reminded him that it was in our contract, he pretty much just said unfortunately they can't eat the cost. When I reiterated that I am standing my ground and sticking to our contract on this when he brought it up again THREE days out from our wedding, he tried making me feel bad for not agreeing to pay an extra almost 6 dollars a chair by repeatedly saying "I thought you would be understanding". Thankfully we at least got the chairs for our contracted price, but not without a lot of attitude and snark. I wasn't even sure if we were getting the chairs until the day before. There were additional charges for the rehearsal dinner that were NOT discussed with us at all prior, that thankfully were removed by a different event manager after we voiced our frustration. Day of our wedding, Keith's attitude was horrific. Things that we had discussed prior were not done, the most important one being that we needed a space for my husband's father to rest and have privacy for medical reasons, which he said that he would make the space available and when we asked about it the day of he acted like he was so incredibly inconvenienced and came into the dressing room after the room was readied pretty much rolling his eyes and saying they cleared out just enough of it but he doesn't know why we'd want to use it because it's not that clean, but at least it's there. All of my bridesmaids and even my hair artist commented on how incredibly rude and unprofessional he was. And throughout the reception, his presence was not subtle. I had a couple guests ask me about who he was because he was making them uncomfortable. I get that he has to oversee, but staring down my guests and making them feel uncomfortable is not it. TLDR: Venue coordinator Keith is either deceptive or conveniently forgetful about prices, little hidden costs will just appear and add up, and overall just a lot of promises made that ultimately were not kept or only done because we had to repeatedly push for it even after we were told it would happen. Very poor communication throughout the process and honestly would not wish for any couple to go through the headaches we went through trying to work with him.
