A friendly hostess encouraged me to bring the dog inside because their patio was available but it was just so hot. They brought over a dog bowl for Freddy with lots of ice in it. He proceeded to enjoy crunching the ice and made a big slobbery mess on the floor. I offered to clean it up but the staff was unperturbed and friendly while they mopped the water/drool up. The ambience in here is really cool. Lots of fans, music playing, garage doors rolled up to let the breeze in. It was a bit noisy with the music and fans but I could still hear my friend talking. I had them customize a BLT croissant sandwich to make it vegetarian friendly and they were happy to. They offered to cook a dog hamburger patty for Freddy for $2.99 and I took them up on it - he loved it! My friend enjoyed his Cobb (or chef?) salad. We split a pretzel appetizer - it was really good! There a very friendly and helpful server took my drink order and gave me a menu. I decided on the pepperoni pizza and was happy with what I got. It was a very thin crust, luckily I prefer thin crust. My experience with pepperoni pizza led me to believe it would be soaked in pizza grease. I was surprised when there was very little grease left on the tray.

Anyway, I used this as an opportunity to check out the indoor area (it's called Pybus Market), which was housed in a renovated old steel mill and reminded me a little of San Francisco's Ferry Building (but without the insane prices). As I sampled a lovely gouda at the resident cheese shop, I noticed the lovely wine bar next door to it... and this, my friends, is how I found Jones of Washington. This intimate little tasting room features wines by the bottle or glass, or for a $5 tasting fee you can sample up to six of their fine wines. The fee is refundable with any bottle purchase. I chose three whites and three reds, with bottle prices ranging from $10 to $50, so there's pretty much a price range for everyone. I settled on buying a bottle of their sweet (but not *too* sweet) bottle of their Riesling. Well, wouldn't you know it, they were actually having a killer special on Riesling by the case so I ended up with 12 bottles to take home! The service could not have been friendlier here, by the way. When we pointed out that the menu said you do he said well the cook makes the menu they can do whatever they want. He was rude and condescending the whole time and did want to be there. He never smiled or asked how our meal was and then I had to hunt him down at the bar to pay. When I paid cash he asked if I wanted my change which would have been a 30 percent tip if I didn't take it. When I said yes he glared at me and acted like I totally put him out. His lack of service and nastiness was noticed by all in our party. If he is the owner that is a shame and if he is not I would recommend replacing him. We all enjoyed the food and drink it was only the service.
