More of a campground for seasonal campers with RV's. We made a visit to Timberline because our friends are seasonal campers. As tent campers, we had a tent site in the field, which also gave us a little more room to enjoy nature. The restrooms at the field are clean, but the stalls are extremely small that you must do your business with the stall door ajar or you'd touch your face and knees on the door (and I'm a petite person). The office and bathhouse restrooms are far roomier and just as clean. Neighbors are very hit or miss. The staff here are nothing short of amazing. Everyone is friendly and took care of us when we ran into an issue during our first visit. There are enough activities throughout each weekend to keep the kids entertained. Most of all, the beach and lake alone is enough to convince us to visit every summer. read more

Great, relatively quiet, family oriented spot. Plenty of shade. VERY friendly dogs and campers everywhere we walked within the campground.

Great place to camp, super clean too! Fun activities and nice staff. They have both a pool and a lake, 2 playgrounds, a basketball court too. We love spending our season here! read more

Spent two nights here two weeks ago for my sister's birthday. She had a lakeside tent site and we stayed in a cabin (303). My husband and I LOVE camping and prefer tents but with our two young rambunctious daughters, we figured the cabin was an easier option. The cabin is super cute with two bunk beds, closet, TV, AC, refrigerator, and microwave. There is also a picnic table out back. We got lost on the way, after GPS took us to the middle of a forest. When we finally arrived, the staff were very friendly. The pool is very nice, the place is VERY kid friendly with activities going on. The only inconvenient thing is the bathrooms. There is a porta potty at the pool, bathroom at the main store, and a bathhouse with toilets, sinks, showers, and laundry room. Everything worked well and was decent. There are bugs everywhere, it is unavoidable. The lake is beautiful and the beach is clean. There is a 5 mph speed limit so it takes some time to get around. And you will need flashlights or fire for sure at night, it gets pitch black. The stars were beautiful, we had all the great parts of camping with our little cute cabin. The place is beautiful but it lacks good management. We booked an orange two-room cabin over the phone and received a one-room little house (a different one). The refrigarator was leeking and there was a poddle on the floor. It was raining one whole evening 5pm-11pm. Unfortunately, the roof above picnic table in the backyard had few holes. Water was dripping on our backs as we were sitting at the table. Also, once you check out but still want to stay at the beach area and also park by the beach, you hae to pay half your daily rate, which in our case was $50. Who does that? Even the entrance onto ocean beach costs $8 per person. Beach entrance at a National Park costs $15 per car. There was no life guard either? The management at this place is becoming greedy. read more

As it's all public knowledge! when me & my fiancé stayed there there was only 1 African American who they called they mayor, and all the white people were making fun of him saying he's the only black man in the whole campsite, that's terrible!!! the showers are freezing cold And filthy !, forget if you have to do your laundry there's only 2 washers 2 dryers, and I've accually seen people fight over the next washer! No one wears a mask! Bathrooms & laundry room never gets sanitized down! Loud music all night long! Don't expect to bring your iPad or lab top to this terrible campsite because there's no wifi at all, the spots to pull your travel trailer into are extremely tight and the property looks like a junk yard because people live there all year round! Expect a lot of people to be parting & getting drunk! Watch out for the ones that don't respect your 6ft space because everyone gets so drunk they don't care that Covid is still going on! Save your money, and check out other campsites reviews first! Timberline campsite is not a resort as they call it! It's a campsite for partiers and drama! Don't go by Timberlines Facebook account as they have all familly & friends obviously giving them good reviews just to get business! Look on yelp only 3 stars, and look at trip advisor and you will see the truth about this place! Camped here in June as a place to stay during a 2 day music festival on the Seaside Heights beach. ~Location: Good, about 25 minutes from the shore. Easy to find, close to the highway and there are places for food, supplies, and gas (gas station, CVS, fast food) on a nearby main road. ~Overall Property: Quaint and rustic. The store/front desk/cafe/rec room building is located at the entrance and adjacent to the playground. Pool was clean, life guard on duty. Cafe has coffee, breakfast sandwiches, wings, pizza, etc. Basically like a concession stand. The store has any supply you could ever need. Around the main building and pool is a large field with RV spots. The owners have 6 exotic birds that have a habitat near the main building. I enjoyed watching the birds and talking with them! The birds are only there during the day, so no worries about them making noise at night. Definitely some permanent residents, but does not have a trailer park feel or anything. As we drove towards the tent sites, it became more wooded with small dirt roads to get around. We drove by the cabins, which looked cute from the outside. ~Service: Very pleasant and helpful front desk staff. Cafe staff was also very nice and accommodating. A very nice security guard is at the entrance at night that only allows people with passes to enter. I thought it was a nice touch to make sure no one enters the site that shouldn't be there. ~Tent Site & Camping facilities: Our site (T38) was pretty isolated and wooded, as we requested. Good sized site, pretty clean. Picnic table was a little busted. Bathroom facilities left a lot to be desired. If the bathrooms were nicer, this place would be 4 stars for sure. Bathrooms were usable, but stalls were cramped and uncomfortable. Showers were not very clean. Lots of spider webs and spiders and bugs in the bathrooms. Outlet in women's room did not work. The bathrooms just seemed neglected by staff. There was some paper and a disposable razor on the floor for 3 days while we were there, clearly no staff was regularly going in to clean the bathrooms. Showers were warm, not hot. Honestly, I expected them to be cold, so warm was a nice surprise. Noise levels were acceptable at night. ~Overall Experience: I would recommend this campsite for people who are looking for a cheaper place to stay and enjoy the Jersey Shore instead of a crappy, overpriced motel. Very family friendly. Bathrooms need more attention and should be better maintained and cleaned. That being said, we were happy with the campground and price and would go back. read more

So I decided it was time a longer stay to test it out to before becoming seasonal. So we rented a site from June till the end of August. It was the worst camping experience we ever had. The seasonal people around us spent the entire summer building decks and running power saws. They did not adhere to the quite time rules. At times starting their construction as early as 6:30 Am. I talked to the Manager about the situation and he was very nice offering to help me move my camp but with only 2 weeks left it wasn't worth the aggravation being disabled. He spoke to one Seasonal camper and they quieted down. Two days later the site (On the start of Labor day weekend) The people behind me started building a screen enclosed deck over 20' long. I could not sit out side and have a conversation with family 3 feet away. So in order to get the peace and quite it says on their Web page I had to leave an make other plans for the holiday. A lot of other places I have stayed do not allow work like this between Memorial day and Labor day. I never expected such a bad experience from a place I liked so much before. Total waist of money. I guess I will have do my homework better next season and make sure that I don't get placed in a spot that makes me have to leave to enjoy myself. Stayed June 2014 read more

I would give this place a 4. This place is super cheap. Bathrooms are horrible. The paper towel is brown, the toilet paper is very cheap, it wripps every time you touch it, forget pulling. The faucet handles, you have to turn them and hold them for water to run. If you let go, the water closes. So you keep alternating hands by washing one at a time. Very annoying. A motion-sensor type of faucets would be a great solution. Showers are not the cleanest. Otherwise the place is nice. read more
