The lake is great for canoeing, and the Batona Trail is just up the road for hiking. For a small fee, they'll supply your campsite with firewood. Several Pinelands destinations are within convenient driving distance. The campground is well-maintained. Keep an eye out for the osprey, and listen for the whip-poor-will. Pilgrim Lake has been around for decades, so evidently Scott and Helen Hazard are doing something right. A superb camping spot, all considered.

He tomd us that he has to park our camper in our spot with a fee of course! So we said np! We did ask if we coukd b present and he said NO! I thought it was weird but we ket him park it! So that night we were approached by several people stating they hit a tree getting our camper in the spot! And sure enough our wheel well was torn off on the back of camper! So i called mitch and told him! He became angry and out of control stating he did not do it! Funny the tree in front of camper has bark falling off of it ! So now at end of season he sent a email two weeks before we need to close uo! That he is kicking us out because we acused him of damaging our trailor! WHO DID IT THEN! Not me i never drove it !!!!!!! Camoground is disgusting dirty not kept uo! And has a entertainment director that cant understand that married men are not available! MY HUSBAND COUKD NOT GO ANYWHERE WITHOUT HER FOLLOWING HIM AND FLIRTING IMMENSELY WITH HIM TO THE POINT EVERYONE APPROACHED ME! What a scum!! They say its a famiky olace! More of a campground for seasonal campers with RV's…read more We made a visit to Timberline because our friends are seasonal campers. As tent campers, we had a tent site in the field, which also gave us a little more room to enjoy nature. The restrooms at the field are clean, but the stalls are extremely small that you must do your business with the stall door ajar or you'd touch your face and knees on the door (and I'm a petite person). The office and bathhouse restrooms are far roomier and just as clean. Neighbors are very hit or miss. The staff here are nothing short of amazing. Everyone is friendly and took care of us when we ran into an issue during our first visit. There are enough activities throughout each weekend to keep the kids entertained. Most of all, the beach and lake alone is enough to convince us to visit every summer.

The only reason it isn't a one, is because if you are self contained (not using their bathroom) and not having to ever speak to management, it is like any other campground. Management is very passive aggressive when they speak to you. The electrical boxes are outdated and do not include 20 amp plugs (every single other campground we have been to has had 20 amp plugs). The showers were horrendous!! I will attach pictures of the showers for you, as they are truly disgusting (I am not referring to the water stains from well water, I am referring to the true dirtiness). When you step in the shower, they have a mat on the floor and you can here dirt crunch under your feet the entire time. I truly believe they have NEVER rinsed under the mat. Once they decide to be a bit more friendly and a whole lot cleaner, they will be much better off.

It's high season for campgrounds during this time of year with everyone trying to enjoy remaining summer days and finding a good spot may pose a challenge. My girlfriend called Turtle Run and the stuff got us quickly on the books. The campground is located on the banks of Wading River and you totally get that feel that you are in the woods. Heck, I even did not have any cell coverage! For those like me looking for a way to unplug and enjoy getting back to nature consider this a great spot. Closest shopping center is half an hour away. The campground is well run and organized. A few amenities worth mentioning: - clean bathhouses (restrooms, showers) - on-site laundry - games and fun activities for kids and adults - deli offering delicious meals Accommodations vary and range from a tent site, to trailers and cabins. We stayed in a "primitive" trailer, which was $90/night and it totally hit the spot. Ample room for two people along with your personal picnic table, fire ring, grill, and a parking spot. You can buy wood from them for $5 a bundle which is a good deal.

The owner and the staff truly care about the campground and the experience of the campers! The campground is clean. The bathrooms are cleaned twice a day- and really looked after! Campsites are groomed before you pull in. There are activities each weekend, beach passes available to LBI (only 15 minutes away), the pool is great, play areas and activities for kids and teens! There also is a camp store, snack bar and laundry room! We will definitely return!

I called in a couple days before to ask about the number of tents allowed per plot and was informed only one, so we purchased a bigger tent for this reason. I couldn't find this information anywhere on their webpage and thought the number of people staying in the tent is not important. This led to a negative experience checking in, we ended up paying for a second plot because we were 7 people, so we exceeded by 1 headcount according to the lady checking us in, I believe she is the owner. I couldn't find any write ups proofing that this is true. Feel like we payed to much without knowing if we really needed to. Luckily we had a second tent and two people out of our group stayed at that second plot. Overall great experience and I would stay again, staff was very friendly. Again, would be a simple task to update the information on the webpage, especially for first time campers like me this would be a great improvement.
