I think other reviews said it but I'll include my thoughts too -- the noise curfew is non-existent. We are night owls so we didn't mind. Let's dive in ... Campsite (3/5): These are a bit stacked on top of each other but our group had two next to each other so it didn't impact us too much. Ambiance (4/5): These campsites are right on the water which is absolutely stunning! You really feel like you're in nature, but there is a major road near the top campsites and even by the water you can hear road noise. There was a huge group at the top which partied into the night though we're up late anyhow and it was no issue for us. Consider earplugs if you're not like us. Bathrooms (4/5): These were relatively clean for a campground bathroom. Minus a star here because on the last day the women's room was out of order -- but I believe it was due to another guest, as a member of our party heard someone say "oh no it's not flushing!" TL;DR: Great for those late-into-the-night campers. If you stay here make sure you get a waterfront spot. read more

This is my second time doing a float trip with Kittatinny Canoes, but my first time from this base camp and I would never do it again. The employees working there were not helpful at all. After we were dropped off at the launch point, one employee gave a quick safety speech and then disappeared. No one helped us tie our tubes together or navigate the steep drop-off with our tubes to get into the water, which was extremely slippery and rocky. We were told the float would take 2-2.5 hours. This was wildly inaccurate. It took us an hour to float from the drop-off point back to camp. When we previously did the trip from Barryville, the float was much longer. For what we paid, this was a complete waste of money. Then, when we reached the ending point around 4 p.m., we were harassed by three teenage employees who were yelling at us and demanding that we bring up our tubes immediately. There was no one else going out with those tubes at that time, and we simply wanted to sit and relax for a few minutes since the float had been so short. The employees were unnecessarily rude and nasty about it. I feel bad for the people who paid to camp out on this site. It was pathetically small and claustrophobic. Do yourself a favor and book a float trip with another company. After this experience, I would not return to or recommend Kittatinny Canoes at either base camp. EDIT/UPDATE: After the owner's response, I wanted to provide some additional context because I don't feel her response accurately reflects what we experienced. First, regarding the float time: the website states that the trip is 2-3 hours, not 2-2.5 hours. I understand that river conditions can affect the timing, but the conditions on Saturday were considered normal summer levels, with no flood warnings or high water advisories. Our float was significantly shorter than the advertised timeframe. We were also surprised by how close the drop-off point was. The bus barely drove us up the road before letting us out, and the location itself seemed like an odd place to start the trip, being let out in what appeared to be a vacant grassy field directly next to the Riverside on the Delaware townhomes, not even 3 full miles away. I feel bad for the people who live there. It did not feel like we were out in nature, enjoying lush vegetation. I could literally hear landscaping equipment buzzing along the float. As far as the landing area, we did not see anyone trying to get out of the water with kayaks while we were there, nor did the teenage employees tell us that kayakers were waiting to come through. They were not helping people navigate the landing area; they were primarily standing around and yelling at guests to bring their tubes over to the trailer. If they had politely explained that we were blocking kayakers or asked us to move for that reason, that would have been completely understandable. That is not how the situation was handled. Our issue was not being asked to move. It was the attitude and lack of helpfulness from the staff from the moment we arrived. We would have been happy to cooperate if the situation had simply been explained to us. Unfortunately, that was not our experience, and the owner's response does not change what we personally witnessed during our trip read more

It takes TWO hours from arrival at the parking lot to get on a bus to the river. NEVER AGAIN!!! They have some poor high school kid by himself checking people in. Then they have the nerve to say they'll charge you $100 per person if you're not back by 6 pm. So disorganized, do not recommend. read more

First timer . Loved this experience . We went to the parking lot .. the sign in process was a bit long .. had to fill up multiple forms and waivers . Wish they did these online , instead of holding up onsite . Lots of parking available. After signing in, we went in a school bus , for about 20-25 mins on the other side of the river .. After going to starting point we were given good instructions and then we got our canoes. Perfect for a family . It takes 4-5 hours to row back to the base . Take it easy , relax and have a good time. If u try to hurry up to finish line, u will be tired and will probably lose interest After an hour . If u go with friends , wait for them , and go together. . Take lunch , food , water with u. U can park and have food . Only thing to take care is rocks . We were stuck almost for 20-25 mins in shallow rocks , till we pushed ourselves out . Was kinda energy consuming . If u have gone multiple times , u would know.. Was looking forward to a nice day on the river with a group of about 20 people. My family and I have been coming to raft at this location for over 20 years.The staff at Kittatinny chose to put a few small groups on before us, although we arrived before the small groups. Upon getting up the river, the staff would only give us four rafts for a group of 20. We explained to them some of us aren't together and that we would like one more raft for the $1,100 we paid. (If booking separate they would give it )They would not give us another raft. The river was extremely slowly moving on the day we took our trip, causing us to arrive back at the base at 6:25 instead of 6 o'clock. Kittatinny actually  had the nerve to charge our credit card an extra additional $225 for the inconvenience of being 25 minutes late. Although it does say  it in the contract we would be charged if arriving after 6:00. We feel it was unfair they put a group on the river before us that arrived after us. We called management and it took over a week to even get a phone call back . Management was extremely rude and not understanding of the situation. The grounds are very clean and the staff is very nice and accommodating. There is a lot of highway noise unless you are down on the water. There is no staff onsite after the main store closes. This was disappointing since there was nobody there to enforce the noise curfew or the amount of people and cars that show up for one camping site. At least I know that the "strict rules" they list on their site are only a suggestion. I would go back again, but only if my camping party was a rowdy bunch. It was fun to get out in nature but still be a 5 min drive away from a Walmart. The highway noise is loud but since I read the reviews I brought ear plugs that worked well. In the future I would maybe request to be closer to the river. We will be back, another negative was the store seem to be closed often. read more

This place is run by untrained teenagers. We are only casual - not experienced - kayakers. The teen staff did not warn us of the water level, which was extremely low that day in that part of the river. We were near the launch site for an hour trying to dig our way out of the rocky bottom. We called out to the teenagers, but they sat on the bank and looked at their phones as if actively trying to be stereotypes. They waved at us occasionally, so we knew they could see and hear us. By that point, we would have missed our drop off time, so we took off our shoes and dragged our kayaks back on foot, across the rocks that were barely covered by water. They watched us do this without bothering to help. Back at the register, we engaged with more excessively young staff members who were not empowered or trained to handle customer service issues. Wherever the adults are, they should do better by their juvenile staff. If you are an experienced kayaker, you may not need the comfort of having a trained staff available. If you are not, I'd advise another kayaking outfit. read more

Paddle through breathtaking scenery filled with abundant wildlife. You may see bald eagles, hawks, herons, ducks, deer, and even the occasional black bear! Bring a picnic lunch, stop, relax, swim, the day and the river are yours! Two and a half hours from Long Island, one will enjoy a 3-5 hour ride down the Delaware River. Conditions vary depending on the day/time/ and season. Side Note: look out for snakes in the water if you're swimming. Had I not been warned quick enough, I was two seconds away from getting bit by a Copperhead Rattlesnake. Never have I ever jumped higher in my life. Luckily I made it into the boat in time. Swim at your own risk and watch out for those slippery rocks down below. They're are doozy. read more

Recently stayed at Riverbeach the past weekend with a bunch of friends and check-in was breezy. Our sites were on the corner by the 'prime' sites but since we were not doing an activity we could not get river front ones. No biggy really. The sites themselves, be warned... they are on top of each other, no lining of trees, probably 20-25ft across and bam, the next site. I booked two sites for my group and they were all shocked how bogusly small each one is. If you have rambunctious neighbors or crying kids, you will not enjoy it. The sites are also mostly dirt and not grassy which was interesting but we didn't mind too much- bring a mat to wipe your feet off before entering your tent. Sites come with one picnic table and one fire ring each, a water and electric hookup and if you're lucky a few trees to string up a hammock. I had one good tree and had to attach the hammock to my roll bar on my jeep. You must purchase wood from the shop too and its not the cheapest. oh well. Positives: not expensive for a group to camp for a few days site cost/per person wise, water access is very close and the part of the river by this camp is only about 3 feet max & perfect temp to cool off, lots of cool chipmunks around, wally world down the street a mile away if you forgot anything, they were pretty good about keeping the noise down and patrolled at night nicely telling us to keep the music down after 11pm. Negatives: hope you like your neighbors b/c you can hear them fart they are so close, not much grass, road noise from 84 is VERY obvious at night, weird green lacewing like bugs but they didn't bite but were EVERYWHERE and attracted to the light, bathrooms were ok but a bunch of things not working or no soap, no paper towels etc Would i come back? Solid MAYBE. But would definitely look for other sites that provide more space and privacy from each camping area read more

Only go here if you are looking to PARTY. The campsites were on top of each other. I wanted to get away from it all, and wound up spending the weekend with more people on top of me than if I had just stayed at home. Not sure if due to the drought, but the sites were dry and dusty. People PARTIED until 4:30am both Fri and Saturday night. No enforcement of quiet hours AT ALL. Music, laughter, fireworks. UNTIL FOUR THIRTY. We heard a ROOSTER one morning, and the site next to up set up a Karaoke system. Many campsites blare their music, to drown out the blaring music of the next campsite over. The camp store is super nice. Very nice employees. Not sure if it's temporary, but the bathhouse on our side of the camp was shut down. Portapotties were set up instead. Outside hand washing stations sometimes did, and sometimes did not, have water in them. Showers were accessible in a relatively nice trailer thing. The tubing excursion was DELIGHTFUL. Highly recommend. So if you're looking for a place with a nice view of the river, but you just want to rage and shout and party all night long, this is your place. Some people are looking for that sort of vibe - WE WERE NOT SOME OF THOSE PEOPLE. read more

To sum up what I can fill a novel with. Simply put do not stay at this campground. Rude, understaffed, lazy, expensive, disgusting. The list goes on. To start things off when we arrived we arrived early it was a friends error we arrived at approximately noon time and they told us check in cannot happen until two 3 PM we were told the reason being was that they were cleaning campsites we sat around in the main parking lot for some time until we drove over to our campsite and decided to set up after arguing back-and-forth for over an hour we did not see a single cleanup crew the entire time and as we are setting up with some other part a bunch of garbage and even one of our younger campers stepping in a dead bird scarring him for a bit of the first day All night long be ready for the highway to have tractor trailers coming and going. Both sets of bathrooms from Friday to Sunday morning were not cleaned once. When I brought it up to the manager I couldn't believe what I heard lord this is the truth "what do you want us to do, if we were to clean them they would simply look like that again in a few hours" baffled I stood there looking at here waiting for her to take back the ridiculous statement she just said but to no avail she held strong. Argued for a refund on my 150$ a night stay or at least one of the two nights. To no avail. Even after all the wood bundles we purchased for 9$ a pop being told we couldn't bring wood when Almost anyone else of the several hundred campers brought wood. We bought the 2 he trip on the river w rafts included. The current was fast and is got done in 23 minutes exactly. When bringing this up for a partial refund or maybe to tag along on the next bud we were told no. "We can't control the flow of the river" well maybe don't charge 35$ and promise an amount of time or idk, maybe drive further up the river if the current is fast. Quick cash grab of a campground. Campsites should be no more than 50$ and that's even pushing it(see any county/state/national parks and they are pennies compared to private(obvious reasons but still 150$ is highway robbery for bathrooms you can't even use Will absolutely never stay here again read more

Wow so many 1 star reviews... tried them out for the 1st time in July with NO experience whatsoever. Loved it so much, decided to do another take in August before the summer ended. Not to mention we were coming from the JFK area in Queens,NY. It was such a breath of fresh air to escape the congestion in the city. Felt like the rules were explained thoroughly on which side of the river to navigate towards, it's just a matter of common sense really. Loved the fact that we were in control of the entire trip down the river. There's a few shady spots to pull over for lunch or enjoy a swim. Other rafters & the people that live along the banks were so friendly waving at us. It was such a great experience. Overall we loved it! read more

Always a great time with a large group! We always go real early - we get there by 9:15 & although we have to wait a little bit to get on the bus to get to the location, it seems that the earlier is the better. Don't be afraid to use the porte-potties - they are cleaner than the bathroom - TRUST ME! Rafts are in good condition & clean. Not too much direction on how to raft if you are a first-timer so ensure you ask questions to ensure you have the knowledge to raft. I got with 14 neighbors of mine every year & we have such a great time! We bring coolers with sandwiches & beverages. Put your food in a zip lock bag! I always forget suntan lotion & always regret it. A fun time - enjoy! read more

Something new and different for a birthday celebration? Absolutely! Friends and family coming together? Of course! Fun, sun and the outdoors? Yaaaassss! How about tubing? Ummm, what?! Okay, sure, it's a birthday request. NEVER. AGAIN. No Communication.... wait, wait, wait, okay get on the bus, wait, ride somewhere for how long, IDK, get off and follow me. Kinda felt like cattle. No Instruction... the high school/college kids were nice but distracted and disinterested. Opened a cabin, threw a bunch of vests on the ground and told us to "pick one". We discovered there's only one size, how to put them on and check eachother's to make sure they were secure and not tangled. All while the employees just stood there. Grab an oar they said. But they did give some advice "don't fall out" so of course I ask what do you do if that happens. Answer, "just float until you get to the end and we will get you when you are close". Oh, yeah and they said "stay to the right of the bend". What happens if you bear left? "We can't get you." Wait, what?!   Now everybody pile in... Is there a limit in the tube? Not really. Any demonstration on how to use the oars? Nope. Should we sit inside or on the edge? Its up to you. Then the kid just pushed us out into the water. So... for the first 15 minutes we floated and turned in a circle near the edge of the river. Yes, the employees just stood and watched for a bit. We just couldnt propel ourselves out. After lots of hard work we finally figured it out and made it onto the river. Eventually we wanted to catch up to our group. Well, digging my oar into the water and thrusting it back caused me to lose my balance and fall out! Yes, I fell out and into the river. The raft and I kept moving but at different speeds. My job was to keep up AND try to get back in. Well that's hard when there are NO ROPES or HANLDES on the tube. After floating and fighting to get back in (deeper water was freezing cold) we reached a more shallow/rocky area. One person dug her oar into the rocks to anchor the tube (it kept spining in a circle becuase of the current) and the other 2 in my group jumped out, one stopping the tube and the other helped me back in. Then we helped eachother. And it seemed like forever and it was exhausting and very scary. It's about 3 hours to the end depending on the current. If I couldn't keep up or my party didn't help I would have been just floating. How is that safe? So here's my advice...  determine who is a beginner and who is experienced, and perhaps who can swim! Offer a brief demonstration on safety or at least how to use an oar. Offer instructors to ride with the guests (even if the price is increased). Upgrade the vests because some were broken. And upgrade the boats because they don't have handles or ropes for you to grab on to in case you fall out! Perhaps add guides or cameras thoughout the route and have a contingency plan!  I would go tubing again but definitely NOT with this company.  If I could give negative stars I would. read more

Swung by their campsite on a kayak trip with Sourced Adventures. We landed at River Beach and weren't really sure what to do. So we dragged our kayaks up on the beach. It would have been nice to have someone from the camp sort of wrangle us so we knew what to do. After changing (half of the toilets were out of order at this time). We had a catered lunch. Our bus found it a bit difficult to maneuver around the campgrounds. Before launching off for our Kayak ride, the KC guide gave us the run down on what to do if we capsize, etc. We were a fairly large group and it may have been best if she split us in two or at least asked if we could all hear her since it was difficult. read more

I cannot say that I am a veteran of canoeing in any way and this was my first time in a raft in almost 20 years, however, as a customer I was a very happy camper... Or canoe-goer as it were. The employees were exceedingly nice, efficient, good humored and helpful. The store was stocked and the bathrooms/changing facilities were in good working order. The bus driver was polite and the bus ride was pleasant appetizer for the main course that lay ahead. The grounds were well maintained. The equipment was ready for use. Been coming here for years, always brought a large group and never complained about waiting around but... This year the plans fell apart last minute, besides the fact that the water level was extremely low (makes for a horrible trip with kids) half of my group tested positive for Covid. All I asked for was a rain check, not a refund. Because, at this point in the season it would be impossible to get everyone back together for another trip. But, they refused. Went last weekend and had a blast! There is parking on site and they bus you to your start point. They were maintaining social distancing and wearing masks the whole time. There was a long wait to get on the bus but I think they were having issues with people not making reservations. I would definitely recommend that they set up a separate window for those who reserved ahead of time versus those who didn't. But anyway, had a great time and will definitely be going back. The water was so smooth and there were hardly any major rapids, perfect day to sit on the water and drink. read more

Tubing with Kittatinny Canoes was great. There are comfortable bathrooms (even a shower!) to change before and after. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The tubing itself is a mix of relaxing with some fun faster spots going over small rapids. We saw a bald eagle really close! I think we are going to make this a regular summer excursion. read more

My sister and friends made a reservation to go tubing and were twenty minutes late for the last shuttle. Not only did the kind staff send the shuttle back to take us to our spot, they also retrieved us when we accidentally floated off course and ended up a mile off and hours late to our destination. After about 2 hours of phone calls I spoke to a Manager & they would not refund anything. How can a business not understand an emergency? Been tubing with this company 3x. 2x at the river beach location and 1 in Barryville, which we thought was more picturesque. Bring a floating cooler and ask a nice employee to blow it up there for your beverages. They sell ice there if you need to top up. Our group always has fun on these tubing trips. Depending on the current, it can be very fast (finished within 60-90 mins), however the last time it took the full 3 hours. We have made a res in advance online (also on phone if less than 48 hours). Would recommend making a res to the time/location of your choice. It can get very busy in the summer. read more

My family and I were there this past weekend, (8/15/2020) this place is horrible. Over booked, easily 200 people standing waiting for buses. After 2 hours we finally get a bus to be dropped off at the raft site. Upon arrival there was a load of people waiting there as well. Not one life vest available nor any rafts to be seen. After waiting again, we all finally decided to call it quits. 5 hours of wasted time, we could have been better informed by the staff, unfortunately several were new employees (not any blame on them). The past years we used Silver Lake Canoe.... much better run. Unfortunately they only offered a 5 hour ride that we have done in the past but it's a little long . Also, no enforcement of mask wearing,several people on the bus were not wearing one. On the upside,we were able to get a full credit back. Sadly,they broke a 6 year tradition of family rafting. We decided to book the water release trip. Got to the base with all paperwork ready to go 30 min. ahead of time and asked where to go for the reservation. Waited for 40 min in line to be told that I had to go to another cabin/line. We then waited another 20 min there; and another 10 minutes wasted with paperwork. By that time we were not making back to base prior to the cutoff and were told that there is going to be a late fee. The manager offered a different trip, but we specifically came for the white water. So she made a note not to charge a late fee. Waited for a bus. 40 min drive to the location and.... we cannot go on the water because we did not grab the life jackets off the base. This is not our first rafting experience and the life jackets are usually given where you get on to the raft. 40 min ride back to the base. Ruined the whole weekend. Lessons: 1. outrageous wait time under the beaming sun (water, sunblock, inline meditation). 2. Keep asking questions as you will always get a different answer ( enjoy the chase). 3. Ask if you should board the bus with life jackets, oars, rafts, etc. ( keep asking, as you will get a different answer). 4. Use another, a smaller company that cares about its customers P.s. the manager came to see us board the bus. She SAW we have no jackets so did the driver. NO one had an idea to mention that we need life jackets. Kids are crying as I am typing it on the 40min ride back to the base. read more

Beautiful location on the side of the Delaware River but the noise from Routes 84 and 209 was unbearable! The noise didn't even lessen at night. Truck noise drowned out the sound of the creek. If you closed your eyes, it was like being in the city. Campsites were too close together. Better to go Kittatinny in Barryville instead. read more

This is a really great escape from the city. I went for the first time for the July 4th Holiday and went river rafting on the Delaware River with a group of friends. It was super fun -- and the rapids aren't scary at all. Perfect for a novice rafter. We caught the river in a bit of a dry spell too. I went again last weekend (10/21/07) only this time, we took kayaks. It was was unbelievably relaxing. The changing trees, the sounds of nature, and a picnic with friends. Awesome. One warning though, prepare to be tired at the end of the day. Sure, it's fun, but it's a pretty draining workout to paddle 10 miles downriver. The staff comprised mostly college and high school kids, but they were knowledgable and nice. Next weekend (10/27) is the last weekend until they re-open next season. Note: They don't allow alcohol, but they rarely check you for it (wink, wink). read more

My family and I have been using kittatinny canoes for our yearly family trips. In the past they have been accommodating but unfortunately they must have decided they value money over human experiences. Half of our family tested positive for Covid two days before our schedule trip. I e requested a refund but apparently having Covid isn't a valid response. This business would rather Covid run rampant than honor loyal customers. We will not be using them in the future. read more

Campground is clean and we had the best campsite. We arrived around 10am and the checking in personnel said we cant check in yet until 2pm. This is the reason for 4 stars. We checked the site and no one was there but the lady said we cant stay on the campsite until 12pm so we had to wait until we can check in. After checking in we set up our tents. The bath house near our site has no heated water,but another lady addressed it the next day that it will be fixed, which was fixed the next day. Very helpful info. Everything was great!
