We went for the tulip fields. I suggest going on the first day of peak blooms, because the fields are open to u-pick tulips. Therefore, there are less and less tulips by the minute since the festival begins. We went on day 3 of the tulip festival and many tulips already looked dry. Things I did not like about the festival... $12 for anyone 3 years old and above. I think it's crazy to charge for children 3 years old because there was not much offered for them. The website even said rides included. What rides? No hay ride or any kind of ride available. I messaged the farm in regard to tickets being available to buy at the farm and they sent me an automated reply routing me to the online ticket sales. Online tickets charged an extra $7 on top of the $60 for 5 people. We arrived at the farm and I noticed that they were selling tickets onsite. It frustrated me because the line for online ticket holders and people buying on the spot were moving at the same pace and really there was no benefit to buying online. However, their reply to me made it seem like tickets were only available online, so I ended up paying extra fees for no reason. They need to how to be efficient in giving access to the fields. We were in line for nearly 20 minutes, even with prepurchased tickets. If the farm will charge for kids, they need to have proper activities available for the kids. The school bus they had their was unique but it was such an old vehicle. They did not spruce it up. It was rusting and had busted seats. Overall, you have to keep an eye on your kids very closely because there could be things they could get hurt from. The train that is there is even older looking than the bus and even more rusted. There was an antique vehicle there too, which was nice to take a picture on but it was really falling apart! With the ticket cost, I have seen much better farms that have so much more to do and they do not charge kids that young. The children's activities need a whole revamp. read more

It's very expensive as a nursery. Lowes is about 1/2 the price with a returnable 100% guarantee. Even Giant Eagle's plants were less expensive and they are premium priced. The tulip field was rows of flowers, they had two food trucks, and it was a nice day, but, expensive and imo not worth it. We went out to look at the mums. The Facebook page states if you pay the $10 per person fee you get $5 in redeemable bucks to use on a future visit. My husband and I paid $20 to look at their mum display for a whopping 5 minutes. When asked about the $5 credit per person she said there's nothing like that even though the website states otherwise. Been coming here for a few years and want to love it but think I'll be going elsewhere next year. It's just insanely busy and inefficient. So many lines. A line for the bus. A line for the bathroom. A line for getting your tree shaken/wrapped in twine... a different line for paying for the tree . A different long line to pick up your tree. You should pay and get your tree all in one line. My friends and I spent the morning here which was wonderful and every one was very kind. While leaving we got a flat tire. One employee came over to help us change the tire and then called another coworker. We ended up having 4 employees and another man help us change the tire. they were incredibly kind and we are so grateful they helped us get it figured out. The tulip festival was a complete bust for 2024. Hardly any blooms were left by 4/25. Much smaller area than anticipated. Shop keepers in Granville told us they had heard similar complaints. People coming back from the fields related that the shovels they were given to dig bulbs were flimsy, plastic ones that did not work. I pre-purchased tickets but ended up not using them after seeing the state of the fields. read more

I can not believe the overall rating of Timbuk Farms on Yelp. I am shocked that they do not have 5 stars across the board. I am also shocked that I have not reviewed them before. My fiance and I have been doing to Timbuk to get our Christmas Tree every year for 9 years. That is quite a few experiences and each and every one of them has been fantastic! So full of Christmas joy! Now before I go any further on this review I just want to give you some perspective on where I am coming from. First, I do not believe in fake trees. I do not want to get too deep into it, but those of you that say you are saving the environment by having a fake tree should check the research. Second, my true Christmas holiday is actually the day I go cut down the Christmas tree. That is the day that is the most important to me. Third, going to a pop up Christmas tree stand is not enough for me, I have to choose and cut down the tree myself. Lastly, I am quite picky about my tree, I do not settle. I am willing to walk around a field for hours until I find that perfect tree for me. I am particular, a perfect tree is big, it is fat, it has strong branches, and it is full, no gaping holes. I am willing to pay for all of this. I consider it paying for the entire experience, again this is my Christmas. If none of this is important to you, then maybe Timbuk is not your place. You do get what you pay for in life. If a tree laying outside of your local hardware store is fine with you, then maybe you should stick with that. Now on to the rest of the review. Timbuk typically starts selling their trees the day after Thanksgiving. They post their hours on their website. We always go the Sunday after Thanksgiving, calling that Christmas Tree Day. We arrive prior to their posted opening time. We do that in hopes of beating the crowd. Timbuk is extremely popular in real life (I guess just not on Yelp) and many people come. So the later you come the more you will have to deal with a crowd or a line. They did adjust many things this year in hopes of diminishing the lines and the wait. Some changes are they have an express check out stand set up outside so you never have to go inside if you choose not to. I overall think this is brilliant and I think they should continue to do this, COVID or not. It made the check out process seamless and much more pleasant. They also put in portable upscale restrooms outside, they closed the ones inside for this year, also due to COVID. I think in the future after COVID they should continue to have the outdoor restrooms as an option. The last change is that this year due to COVID they strongly encourage you to walk to one of two fields, both adjacent to the lodge. Near the lodge they have an example of each species of Christmas tree they offer on the farm. Each tree has a description of things such as needle retention, aroma, color, and approximate heights available. Some of my favorite types of trees they offer are the Canaan Fir, Con Color Fir, and the Blue Spruce. Within the descriptions it also tells you what field they are located in and the easiest way to get there, either by foot or by bus. They were offering 7 different species of Christmas Trees this year, that is amazing. What a phenomenal selection. We went with a Canaan Fir this year, and that was in one of the fields closest to the lodge, so we walked. We were so impressed with all the Canaan Firs as we made our way through the field. They all looked so full and symmetrical. We narrowed it down to two different trees, walking back and forth multiple times until we came to the decision on our tree. It was the perfect bell shape. A true Christmas tree shape! We estimate that it is 9 feet tall and the circumference at the base is 6 feet. It is a fat, good looking tree! Once you choose a tree you then need to cut it down yourself. They offer hand held saws, but we always bring our own hand held saw, because ours always seems a little sharper than theirs. The sharper the saw, the quicker the tree comes down. Timbuk offers red plastic sleds that you lay your tree on to drag it back to the outside of the lodge. From there the wonderful employees of Timbuk take over from here. Once they make sure that you took your half of the tag on the tree, they take the tree off your hands. As we paid for our tree, which by the way was $109.99 for an approximately 9 ft absolutely magnificent, fat tree. The employees wisked our tree off to put it electronic shaker, that shakes all the loose needles off. Then they put it through the Christmas tree baler, which basically ties it up, making it smaller, easier to transport and set up. I have many hopes for this review, one is that someone from Timbuk reads this review and they listen to my advice, two is that other fellow Yelpers see this review and maybe they give Timbuk a try for themselves. Wanted to come on and leave a good review for this local business! I've never cut down my own tree before and this was a great place to do so and get in the holiday spirit. We came on a Sunday afternoon, boarded the bus to the area for 6 ft Canaan firs, and had a great selection of trees to choose from. They provide you with a saw and make the check out process very simple. I now have a beautiful tree in my living room and enjoyed visiting Timbuk farms. read more

So I've come here for my Christmas tree just about every year for the past 20 or so years, but after a recent experience, I don't think I will be back, so I am shopping for a new family tradition. They have a good selection of cut your own trees, a nice fire with free hot chocolate and cookies,and typically very nice and helpful staff when picking up a tree. My bad experience is with some plants grown here that I purchased from another nursery. They were labeled as pablano peppers, which I needed a lot of, so I bought 12 large plants. As they matured I realized that they were actually serranos. Good in salsa, but nothing close to what I needed. My first reaction is to go strait to the source, find out who labeled them, Timbuk Farms. I figured this way, their customer (the nursery) doesn't have a negative experience with them, and of course they are the one that made the mistake. I never expected a refund of my money, but I figured maybe they could give me something off of my tree this year and an apology. After about a month of talking to and leaving messages with multiple people, I finally gave up after talking to someone that said " oh, you're the guy that wants the free christmas tree because of a few pepper plants." like yeah right, give it up buddy. At that point I went to the nurseries purchaser where I bought them and they were very apologetic and quickly mailed me an apology and generous gift card. They told me they also bought some miss labeled plants. I would not recommend buying any plants from Timbuk Farms or that are labeled Go Green Veggie, as they do not stand behind their product. My family and I have been coming here for over twenty years. The past five years the price of trees has gotten way to pricey and this year the tree died before Christmas and actually smelled bad by New Year. We area very sad but we think the owners of Timbuk farms are getting greedy and the quality of the trees is terrible. Timbuk farms used to be a fun family tradition where the trees were beautiful for a great price. Now the trees are ugly for the price of gold. If you are looking for a 4 ft tree or smaller then you can still find a decent tree but, you will pay 45-55 dollors for it. I'm sorry Timbuk Tree Farm but we will not be back. read more

My family of 10 have come here for the last 7 year as a tradition that we started. We would first have brunch at the Buxton Inn, shop a little in Grandville and go out to Timbuk and cut at least 3 trees. My threshold of pain to pay for a tree was about $60-$70 each - for the same size we bought last year - this year these trees were $80 to $100! My threshold was exceeded. We'll need to find a new tradition. On a positive note - they really do a great job - just a little out of my price range. Hopefully they'll announce a price rollback for next year - then we'd be back. read more
