    Egusi soup and fufu
    Giovanna M.

I love this place. I had a Nigerian friend visit in August and he's always looking for African food when he gets out of his little town. Oddly enough I hadn't eaten here before he came. Short story, the food is delicious. He was pleased though he made sure I knew Nigerian jollof rice is better. There wasn't a bad item we ordered. Absolutely delicious. In addition to jollof rice we also had egusi soup. I was introduced to bitter lemon and a malt beverage. The only gripe I had is it takes a while to get your food. So if you bring your appetite, be sure to not come starving. Otherwise, it's a visit you won't regret.

This is the best African food spot in Augusta! Everything is on-point but my personal favorite is the dibi lamb with jollof rice! You cannot go wrong with that! Make sure to add the plantain when you go and try one of the ginger drinks if you haven't had one before! Takes awhile for the food but it never tastes like it's not fresh!

    Egusi with cassava fufu

Stopped by here the other day and ordered the egusi stew with the cassava fufu. The stew was very hearty albeit a tiny bit oily, but it was definitely as good as any I've had in bigger cities. The thing I like a lot about egusi stew is the nutty flavor from the egusi combined with both seafood and meat- I feel like it would be perfect to have frequently when the weather gets colder. The cassava fufu was like a very sticky/gummy mashed potato that went very well with the stew, and it was also served with some sort of African chili oil that added a nice kick to the meal. One thing I will note is that the waiting time can definitely be long (about 40 min+) so if ordering ahead is an option, I recommend you do so. I also wish the portions were a bit bigger but otherwise no real complaints. I would definitely return in the future to try out the other options and am glad there is a real African food spot in Augusta.

Pleasantly surprised. Not much to see from the outside (store front restaurant in a shopping plaza) but once inside it was a different vibe with colorful walls and exotic decor. The employees were very friendly. You can either place an order online to go or eat inside. We chose to eat inside. The wait wasn't too bad. I ordered the jerk chicken with rice & peas and cabbage with a side of plantains. The food was hot and seasoned to perfection. The jerk chicken definitely had a kick to it! Enjoyed every bite. Other items on the menu I'll be going back to try

Very small sign outside so you have to really pay attention or you will miss it but once you get inside it great. Place was clean and well decorated with african carvings and dashiki cloth. The food is made fresh to order so the cashier giving us a heads up the wait time was appreciated. We waited 45 mins for our food and it was great. Everything tasted authentic. I will most surely be returning to try other things on the menu. I liked the place and recommend it just be prepared to wait because like I said everything is made fresh when you order.

Great tasting fish. Service is a lil slow, but to be expected with food cooked to order.

    5. Beef Maafe

Originally from Mali I happened to be here for the EYBL Nationals. I found by pure hasard this place and it feels like home. As the food is cooked to order, the waiting time might be longer than any restaurant but the wait is worthy. Dishes are really well presented. I order Dibi lamb with alloko (grilled lamb with sweet plantains and it is was so good. Some of my kids took beef maffe ( traditional dish with rice and peanut butter sauce) and they didn't leave a grain of rice. I took as a beverage Ginger juice and my friend took bissap juice(hibiscus juice) both homemade. We planned to come back with some of her teammates later this week. This place is a TRUE west African restaurant. Highly recommended to food lovers who want to discover African food.

Absolutely mind blowing place... This restaurant has the potential to be one of the next big spots in Augusta! They just opened and staff is limited, but the awesome service and delicious food is definitely worth the wait. The staff is from Africa and will gladly explain the different items on the menu to you for a better understanding. They are the nicest and most passionately patient of individuals. I ordered the #7 and was asked if I wanted to try it in authentic form with my fingers and water (and so I did), and it was a truly eye opening experience, that I enjoyed. They give you water in a bowl (you can go wash your hands first, please do lol) and then they tell you to pull a piece of the fufu and dip/scoop it into the bowl of soup. Soooo soooo sooo delicious! Now this soup has okra in it and if you don't like or are not accustomed to the okra slime this is not for you, but you're definitely missing out on it. The beef was tender, the chicken seasoned just right, and whatever else goes in it was flavorful and delicious! The tea was a Hibiscus blend and so yummy and satisfying, I would have loved to take a gallon home with me, it was that delicious. I can't emphasize the deliciousness and yumminess of this restaurant enough, y'all please go check this place out, it's worth every bit of the time and the wait for the food and friendly service

The food was tasty. Service was good once you figured out their system. More directions needed upon entrance.

My second trip verified that I will make a 3rd, 4th and on visit. Nice flavor on the jerk chicken made better by the sauces.

The oxtails were soooo good. Lots of flavor and spice. It's enough food for two meals. I could see this being a regular spot.

Everything is a la cart , but the portions are generous. Today I tried Krako , which isn't on the menu, but you might can ask for it. They said it's when the plantains are over ripe, they are smashed with spices and then fried . It was sooo good, though just a bit oily. Next, I decided to try their stewed goat and their signature spinach rice. The goat was unbelievably tender and the broth was so flavorful. I ended up mixing my rice Into the sauce after I'd eaten all the meat. I will definitely eat here again, I want to try their whole fried red snapper. Prices are affordable. My meal was about $35 with tip, and I have a to go container.

I had the Egusi soup w/fish & Cassava fufu (next time I wanna get it w/the smoked turkey) & my husband had the peanut soup w/smoked turkey & plantain fufu We also got Jollof rice to-go & that was bussin', not to forget the delicious hibiscus/pineapple juice they offer! I'm excited about our future dine-in's & I'm looking forward to trying the okra soup w/the yam fufu next The plantain fufu (my fav) has a slight sweetness that really compliments the peanut butter soup... & please give the staff grace... it's a small, busy business, so consider elsewhere if you're in a rush. The atmosphere was homely w/light Afro music in the background. If you have kids needing a highchair, I saw at least 1 lol so maybe bring your own chair just in case. Limited parking, so carpool if doing a group thing.

If you want real Ethiopian or Eritrean food, you're going to have to drive southwest to Decatur,…read moreClarkston, or Atlanta. This isn't ethiopian food. the authentic flavors simply are not here. Once you taste the real thing, this place won't even cross your mind again -- and that's no disrespect to the very kind owner and staff, but the food speaks for itself. I'm honestly shocked this restaurant has so many high reviews. I'm assuming the owner wants to accomodate the flavor palate of the type of clientelle in the area. I know for sure most people reviewing have never had actual East African food before. Authentic Ethiopian cuisine has bold, unmistakable spices and deep, layered flavor. This food was extremely mild, bland, and nowhere near authentic. It tasted like the dishes were made with basic black pepper, paprika, and turmeric instead of traditional spices like real berbere, mitmita, korerima (black cardamom), or mekelesha. These spices are what make Ethiopian food taste like Ethiopian food. Without them, it's just another stew. If you're truly looking for authentic Ethiopian food, go to a restaurant in the city. You will not regret it.
