It is located in the Promenade on North Sycamore Street. Parking and entrance are in the rear of the building. The retail area is well appointed and the sales staff are friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful in responding to inquiries and requests for repairs. I was there to have an Omega wristwatch metal band adjusted to sit more centered when worn and to replace the battery. To my great surprise, the representative at the front desk immediately took the watch over to the workbench and did the adjustments needed. It was interesting to see him work with those tiny specialized tools to remove and replace the pins with miniature screw driver and rubber mallet. He encountered some difficulty replacing the rear watch case after inserting the new battery, something he anticipated might be a problem because of the way Omega designs its pieces, and advised that it would have to be sent to their master watch person to get it done right. I appreciated that he tried his best to complete the replacement, understood there could be a problem, encountered it, and did not try to do too much and end up worsening the situation. This old watch has been in the family for a while and we want it well cared for; which it was. The story isn't fully writ, and won't be complete until this little beauty is back from the master watchman, but to this moment we have been impressed with the customer care received, and the fact that Bernie Robbins was not going to charge for the adjustment, but only for the new battery. To us, that small bit of largesse on top of their wonderful attitude, was enough to cement us as customers going forward. So glad that they choose Newtown as a desirable place to expand their business. Bernie Robbins is exactly the kind of enterprise we envisioned for the community.

All I had to do was ask Andrew to procure one, and in a couple of days, he obtained a virtually brand-new Submariner with the coveted green bezel that keeps perfect time--and has the box and all the papers. Andrew smoothly adjusted the band and explained every nuance of the Rolex so that I would have the best experience with my new watch. Plus, Andrew's price was absolutely fair for this timepiece. As excited as I am to have this AMAZING and GORGEOUS watch, I remain equally impressed with Andrew's resourcefulness, candor, honesty, fairness, knowledge, outstanding level of service, friendliness, and passion for watches. He should be YOUR "watch guy," as he is mine. Five stars all the way! === October 21, 2005 First experience with Andrew and Sansom Watches! 5-Star! Excellent experience selling a luxury watch! Andrew is honest, fair, very knowledgeable, and quite personable. I received a very fair price for a gold Cartier tank watch. I'll be back to buy a Rolex from Andrew. Thanks, Andrew for the terrific help and great service!

Talk about procrastination, which ends up costing us dearly! Right now I have three watches that need batteries replaced and I refuse to wear my gold and diamond watch for everyday use, tacky plus knowing me, it would end up in the dead watch pile. Hubby is down to wearing his Rolex with two Seiko's stopped in time. One of hubby's watches simply needs a pin, but when he has a battery replaced he insists on having it sent off to be sealed, because his watch never leaves his wrist, including showers and dish washing, I for one can't wait to take my watch off when I get home, so I really could care less if the watch is resealed or not. The last time hubby took one watch to Time after Time and not only did he wait for weeks to have it resealed but it cost him $50.00 plus tax! We have never paid such an exuberant price for having one watch battery replaced and the watch resealed. I'm sure their profit was a grand one, but they lost the chance to service us again!

When I asked my friends who would be the best to go to, they all said without reservation to go to The Exchange. Brian has built a reputation in the community over the years for having "an honest scale." I have found the same to be true of Paul, his son, and Elaine, his long time business associate. I can't think of a higher recommendation that can be given to professionals in the jewelry and coin exchange business. Honesty is the highest value in any business. I don't even care that he gave me such a crazy lowball offer, but the way he was talking to me was so incredibly condescending. I've never been treated so poorly by a customer facing business. I have pretty tough skin being in sales for a decade, but this guy made my stomach turn with how little respect he gave towards his customer. From the moment I walked in the door, I was met with an attitude because I thought I had to wait for an employee to let me in the door after ringing their doorbell. I don't understand how someone like him can still be in business. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else if you want to do business locally, like I tried to do. You'll get a low offer and a huge attitude to go with it.
