The price of your watch is irrelevant, he takes great care of everything he works on from my lowly tissot to my Jaeger, and his price is very reasonable. Turnaround is also spectacular. Best of all, he gives me advice on what to watch out for on my next purchase. He is very honest and tells you if your watch doesnt need a service yet and turns you away. It's Saturday. Yay! I had some home repair chores to get done early and I needed to get a haircut. I found myself driving down Colorado and saw a neon sign in a window that said "WATCH REPAIR". That's when I remembered my Swiss Army watch that had been siting in the center console of my car...for two years. Yeah, that's how I do things. The battery died in my watch TWO YEARS AGO. I just unstrapped it, dropped it in the cup holder and there it sat FOR TWO YEARS. I Steve McQueened the Hyundai into the parking lot, snatched up the watch and ran inside. A pleasant young man came out of the back room. "Can you hook me up with a new battery?" I asked. "Give me five minutes," he replied. I told him that it had been dead for two years. "Uh, oh," he said, with no further explanation, and went to work on my watch. That "uh, oh" made me nervous. What could be wrong? I looked at the watches in the jewelry case. They all looked so fancy. Would I be needing a new one? In five minutes, he handed me a running watch and explained that the battery could have leaked into the watch, since it had been dead for so long, but all was well. The total tab was $8.49. Gee, I guess I could have gotten a new battery...TWO YEARS AGO. Now, I can check the time without digging around in my pocket for the cell. Yup, there it is, strapped to my wrist. I forgot how much I liked this watch. Anyway, if you have some old, dead, battery powered watches sitting around, you might want to get them running again. I never thought about the old batteries leaking and wrecking the watch. read more

Had a horrible experience here. I dropped my Fossil watch onto a tile floor and several of the markers (the dashes that represent the numbers) came loose and fell off. So having seen this watch repair place several times, I decided to stop in and try it out. I was told the watch would take about a week to repair because all the markers would have to be tested out to be sure they would not fall off later and that it would cost $20. I had no problem with this, and left my watch for repair on 6/25/08. I got very busy, so it was not until 2 weeks later that I would be able to pick up my watch, so I called to verify that it would be ready before I drove over to pick it up. The person apologized when they realized the watch had not been touched since I dropped it off. I guess my simple Fossil watch wasn't as important as other more expensive watches, they sell mostly Seiko. I said that was fine and told him I would be back in another week or so to give him plenty of time to get to my watch repaired. Since I was in the area on 8/11/08 I figured I would just stop by and pick up my watch. By this time, i really missed my watch. I showed up in the late afternoon with my claim check and the person searches for my watch and then says to me, "Oh you know what, it hasn't been done yet. Give me 5 minutes." I couldn't believe it, almost 7 weeks later, my watch had yet to be touched! My poor watch was left neglected and obviously missed my wrist as much as I missed it. I waited while he spent all of 5 minutes to fix a watch that and wondered why he couldn't have spent 5 minutes 6 weeks ago when it was originally scheduled to have been repaired. I finally got my watch, was charged the full amount and i stormed out and thought, I have to go warn people and yelp this place. The least he could have done was give me a discount, but I was too annoyed with the laissez faire attitude he had towards me and my watch to argue with him. Needless to say, my watch and I both feel much better now that we are back together, I will be sure to never drop the poor guy again, but if I ever did I'm going to Sears to fix it. As small at ghetto as the little shop inside seems, they have always been quick to fix other watch problems and have always honored their time estimates which tend to be 15-30 mins. My fault for thinking someone else could do better. read more

Strongly recommend this local business! I went in with my boyfriend's watch that he had worn constantly; so much so that the paint on the band was worn in many areas. He also was a little rough on it and scratched up the crystal. It was a nice Citizen watch that was a little over $400 when I bought it a couple years ago. John said he would see how much the band would cost and call me back. He was very kind and accommodating. I went in Dec. 16th I think. Basically, 5 business days before Christmas but I was still able to get the watch by the 23rd! It was $150 for a new black metal band and crystal-- the watch looked brand new. I really appreciated that he was able to repair it with short notice. I thought the price was quite reasonable too. I'm certainly using Time Essentials for any future repairs. read more

Not sure what the other's problems are.  John worked harder on my watch than anyone.  I have a 9 year old Omega Speedmaster and it looks and runs better than it has in years.  The guy before apparently did not do the work I paid them to do.  John communicates well, he's friendly, and I believe honest. Stopped in to have batteries replaced in four watches. I completely forgot two of them were solar charged, but John reminded me immediately. I prefer someone I can trust, and I appreciate it. The one solar rechargable battery was completely dead, but I was told up front the cost and allowed to decide on my own whether to replace it. Again, honesty and integrity. Time Essentials is located on the South West plaza of Colorado and San Gabriel! Its very easy to miss, but it's in the same plaza as Eco-Cleaners. I went to this place because it was the only watch repair shop that closed later than the others. The person manning the place was a young guy and he was pretty down to earth. There are many wrist watches and watch straps that you can buy. There are also a few wall mount watches available. I had to come here and adjust the size of my watch. It took about 10 minutes to remove the links and I was charged about 8 dollars. I didn't think the service was any special, but it did get the job done. The guy made sure that i was completely comfortable with the fit, and he adjusted the links accordingly., I'd come here again to just support this tiny store! read more

I've been here several time getting my watch sized and putting on cyclops to my Seiko Sarb033, Seiko Samurai, G-Shock GPW 2000. John does a great job with a fair price. He was able to do both while I was waiting and only took 15-20 minutes for both, not too bad. I will get my Seiko Sumo sized when the aftermarket bracelet arrives and I will put on a cyclops as well. I'm debating if I should put on a cyclops on the Seiko Sarb017 (Alpinist) and btw, I had that sized there as well. What's funny was he didn't know about the Alpinist and thought it was a Seiko 5...lol, during our conversation about the Alpinist. I needed my watch resized and John was more than helpful. Pleasant to deal with, he went to work on my watch while I waited. He was very cautious with my timepiece and I really appreciated the fact that he took care of it as if were his own. Service like this is hard to come by and I want to give credit where credit is due. In and out in about 10 min and for $8 to size my watch, it almost felt like I was robbing them. It's not often I feel compelled to write a review on a place, but this place totally deserves it. My dad had a watch he wore when he was young that died about 15 years ago. It was a 70's era Seiko 5 that had some water get into it and it stopped running. He had taken it apart and broken the hands, ripped off the crown and as far as I was concerned, it was beyond repair. It sat in my desk for all of those 15 years, with me vowing one day to get it fixed and surprise my dad with it back. In 2009, I took it to another watch shop, where it sat for almost a MONTH AND A HALF for me to JUST get an estimate on how to fix it. Which they ballparked at 300 dollars. I got demanded the watch back and when they gave it back they also lost the crown. Fast forward 2 years. I was driving on colorado and noticed the neon watch repair sign and I realized I had 2 watches that needed a battery replacement. When I went in to drop them off, I grabbed both watches with dead batteries and my father's old watch, just for kicks to see if he could fix it and how much it would be. On the spot, he told me he could fix my dad's watch to a working state for forty (40!!!!!) dollars. I asked him how much it would be to refurbish it to look new (with a new crystal, etc) and I was extremely surprised to hear it would 125 dollars! He said he would be able to replace the crown, replace the hands, and refurbish the watch. All of which I thought would be next to impossible given the age of the watch and likely lack of parts.... I gladly handed over the watch, and now Im eagerly waiting to get it back. Yesterday I scratched the crystal face my swiss army watch against a stone trash can and was furious. I stopped by today to see if the owner could polish it, turns out he had to replace the crystal. Not only did he have the crystal in stock for my particular watch, he did it in 5 minutes and said I wouldnt have any problems with water resistance. All for 25 bucks!!!! My watch is good as new! Ive had really bad experiences with many watch places before, but Im glad i finally found a place I can trust with my time pieces. The owner is extremely friendly, with great prices and he's pretty quick on the turnaround. What more could you want!!! I highly recommend this place. read more

After reading a few reviews I decided to take my watch to Time Essentials. Location is very convenient close to the 210 freeway and plenty of parking. I took my Seiko watch to have it serviced. The watch is was about 20 years old, not an highend watch, but has sentimental value to me. I had the case polished, crystal replaced, band polished and battery replaced. They did a fantastic job. Although my watch was starting to reflect its age, they made it look new again. I will return for additional services for other watches I have. Prices are reasonable but theyre clearly stated upfront. read more
