I had been looking for a jeweler to repair some vintage (gifted to me) jewelry for years. Most turned me away because some of it was classified "too difficult to repair" or as "costume." I read the reviews on Valia and took a chance -- I brought it all in and they could not have been kinder, more professional and honest. Every single piece was fixed within one work week and the price was incredibly reasonable. I will forever be their customer. I also love their jewelry. I wanted to buy several pieces. Incredibly disrespectful!! Over the past few months I've gone to this place multiple times to get my bracelet serviced. All I asked was for polish on my sterling silver bracelet. The first time I went, they did it for free, which was incredible. The second time I went months later thinking I would be greeted with the same customer service and I wasn't. They then said it would charge me $10 which is fine, I paid. The final time I go to this place they tell me they're going to charge me $20 and it won't be done until tomorrow with a snarky attitude to try to discourage me. I know people who collect watches and i work with many high net worth individuals. I was planning on recommending this place to friends and family friends. but if you read reviews from others, they clearly don't value customers. They clearly have a bias depending on who walks into this store. Incredibly disrespectful. The worst part is, it takes five minutes to put the bracelet into the machine to polish. These clowns act like it takes all day when the entire store is empty. Additionally charging people different prices is just messed up. Other reviews detail awful craftsmanship(Rolex maintenance errors), and awful communication. I wouldn't spend $25 here let alone spend thousands of dollars on a memorable watch. After the Eaton Fire took our home, I had the idea to ask if Valia's owner Michael could make a custom gold pendant of the footprint from the architectural plan of our house for my architect daughter who lost her childhood home and the inspiration for her career.... Michael made the design process easy and made several templates for me to compare and his wife and he both provided input on the final design choice. I just presented it to my very design detail sensitive daughter and she loved it. This jewelry family understand the meaning of this gift as they also lost their home and fortune to the terrible Altadena wildfires, yet they offered to clean/restore fire victims' damaged jewelry ! so we all can help them back by bringing them our business. read more

I have been coming here for the past few years and won't be coming back any longer. The bench jeweler does great work and I've rarely had complaints but their communication is AWFUL. I have given them grace many times, not mentioning how they all contradict each other and give different pricing for the same project or tell me one price and then change it later when they charge me. They're a family business and I wanted to support because I also live in the area. Coming here has turned into a stressful experience because none of them know how to properly communicate. I feel really disappointed with how they handled things this time though and it seems like I had to pay the price $$ for their mistakes because they don't like to own up to it. When I try to speak up and hold them accountable I'm met with frustration but it shouldn't be directed towards me it should be towards how things are handled here. I brought my wedding ring in to be re-sized due to an arthritic knuckle. The gentleman who greeted me offered professional and accurate guidance in determining the new sizing to ensure that the ring would go over the knuckle, but not move wildly on the finger above the knuckle. My wedding ring was resized beautifully, and the price was very reasonable! At the same time, I brought my husband's watch in for a new battery. Valia's had both the ring and watch ready within a day. On another note, the jewelry displayed in the store is beautiful. When I admired some earrings that looked like a pair I used to have (one of the pair was lost), I was told that they can even make an earring to match the one I lost. I really wish I could write a positive review; I remember this jeweler when he worked at a large fine jewelry store in Pasadena (long closed). When he first opened Valia's, the service (watch batteries, ring sizing) was reasonable and good. After some time, I took them a charm bracelet that needed several charms attached and I was completely ripped off. I trusted Valia's pricing instead of comparison shopping, only to find afterwards that I could have had the same work done at literally a fraction of the price (by a reputable jeweler, not some jewel-mart place). Very unhappy with this place. Horrible customer service. I took my Rolex in to remove 1 link. (Mind you I would of payed $20 if that's what it cost to remove 1 link) he told me he had to melt the screws to remove them and mentioned it was a complicated process. I agreed to pay the $10 he was charging me but I simply asked if I could see this process he was talking about. He then refused to work on my watch and said have a good day. First, I have been here a couple of times to get a ring guard because it is right by my work until I realized they charge $10 for a flimsy one and Arnold's charges $5 for a much sturdier one. I brought my engagement ring in to be cleaned and the man there warned me that sometimes the smaller stones come out in the machine that steams it, but that they get caught by the machine and can be put back in. A stone came out and they lost it! And on top of it, they behaved totally put upon and rude as though I had inconvenienced them by having to look for it. The rudeness was almost as brutal as having a sapphire my engagement ring lost. They finally offered to replace it, but I took it to Arnold's and Valia's paid 2/3 of what it cost to have it replaced. read more

I ended up dropping off the items and going back to my office but came back shortly after lunch and everything was neatly packaged and ready. BEWARE! THEY LOST ONE OF MY RINGS! I took three rings in for resizing, and left with only two. Of course they apologized profusely and insisted that this never happens, but be warned if you use this jeweler. To be fair, the quality of the work on the 2 rings I did get back was good, and they did offer to replace the ring, but as with many antique rings, it's not replaceable as far as sentimental value goes. In the end, I did not have to pay for the resizing of the 2 rings I did get back, plus an additional (what I felt was a measly) 70 dollars. But my ring is lost forever. read more

I called Valia's at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, to ask if they had a specific item. Once they checked their stock, and told me that they had it, I asked them what time they close. They then told me that they close at 5:30 p.m. I told them that I would be rushing over to pick up the item, as I needed it that day, and I should get there just before closing. When I arrived, at 5:18, the doors were already locked, and nobody answered. Due to Valia's poor business principles, and outright lying to me on the phone, I was not able to get what I needed. This is a poor way to run a business, and a poor way to care for the customers that allow you to have a business. read more

I LOVE Valia's. I come from a family that growing up had a jeweler we trusted with everything (in Chicago). Luckily, my wife's family did, too-- Valia's! They're quick, friendly, gay-friendly (!!!) and their jewelry is awesome. We got our wedding rings from them, and recently my wife bought me a necklace there.
