I wasn't there so asked if I could pay over the phone with a credit card said that's fine. Then when it came time to pay he told me there was a 3% credit card fee which was made illegal in 2024. (see my review history) My standard wooden, sectional garage door's spring broke today (20+ years old). (I'm all over DYI, but I know when I'm out of my league.) Called around 4 pm and was offered an appointment that day between 6-8 pm. Thomas showed up as promised, discussed options, gave me time and cost estimate and I gave the go ahead. This being a 110+ yr old San Francisco house, the straightforward repair of course became much more difficult. You get used to it. Eventually Thomas and I agreed that he would come back first thing in the morning to finish the job. Seemed like the best option for everyone. As promised, Thomas showed up first thing and finished the frustrating job. The estimated price was the same. No extra charge because it took longer than expected. Throughout the entire experience, Thomas was professional, pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. We'll be calling back when we get ready to replace that door in the next year or two.

Recently, the door wouldn't stay open when it was halfway down and was very hard to lift when the power was out. One of the lift cables on the left side was also badly frayed and about to break. I'm posting this to give the people of yelp information I wish I had had…read more 1. A1 has been sold to another company, so someone else will show up to install the door. This was never communicated to me. Also I needed to re-explain things to the people who came in to do the work. Frankly this just came across as deceptive. 2. They either lied about lead times or they straight up forgot to place my order and then lied about it. They said it would take six weeks it took 12. I actually checked in at 6 weeks and it sounded very clearly like they didn't have my order and then they backtracked. 3. The installers left a mess. This is the clincher for me... leave the place cleaner than you came. I ended up with extra holes in my ceiling, drywall dust and screws all over the floor. It was just unprofessional. All in all this was an expensive service and they were grumpy, rude and don't deserve my business (or yours frankly). 4. They installed an insulated door without seals with the shrug of -- well we just don't do that anymore. An insulated door without seals is pointless. Then don't install an insulated door. 5. They are a pain to deal with. No email just an answering service, it was just difficult to get clarification on things. So why three stars after all this... I have a door and it appears to be installed correctly. When you are spending these absurd prices for a garage door frankly I expect better service.

He texted us updates on his timing and progress throughout the day, and unfortunately (mostly for him because of all the driving back and forth he had to do!) he had to come back to replace one of the panels the next day (to add windows) because of confusion with his supplier, but he got it done quickly. The brand new system he installed is working out great with the WiFi connectivity, camera, automatic lighting, and the whisper quiet door itself. They clearly explained why the opener failed and that spring and other elements needed tending to for it not to fail again. They were willing to fix those items on the spot as well, yet I knew I wanted to replace the door itself at some point, and they told me they can do that in a day! I took them up on the offer and they followed up with a quote and timeline. They came around the next morning, completed the work in the time stated, and did an utmost professional job, cleaning up well after it and taking the old door away. She is 93 and they were so considerate, friendly and professional toward her and her needs. So she asked about the shutters by her windows on 2 sides of the house they did that also and the numbers for her address that were on the siding of the house. She was so happy when she saw how nice it all came out.
