The reason for the 3-star review, however, is that since the repair, my garage door no longer closes properly when my EV charging cable is underneath the door -- something that worked without any issue before the spring replacement. It's been less than a month since the repair, and because of this problem, I haven't been able to reliably charge my vehicle overnight in the garage. When I reached out to ask about the issue, I was told there would be an additional charge just for him to come inspect it. I understand the warranty may only apply to the spring itself, but it's frustrating when the door functioned properly before the repair and now it doesn't. Overall, the repair work itself was solid, but I was disappointed with the response and follow-up regarding this concern.

Edit 2: Khoi came out personally with his team to assess and we are currently in the process of resolving it. I would stay far away from Five Star Garage if you care about the safety of your home. They installed my brand new garage doors a several years back and I just found a massive hazard caused by their sloppy work. The center metal bracket that holds the heavy springs is literally ripping out of my ceiling. When I looked closer it appears the installer completely missed the wood stud. One side might have barely caught a piece of wood, but the other side was just screwed straight into empty drywall. I was told by another professional that you absolutely cannot mount springs with hundreds of pounds of tension to hollow drywall. I texted and called the company showing pictures clearly showing the metal crushing the drywall and leaving a huge hole. His response was literally "What do you think is wrong, I don't see anything wrong." When I pushed back, he actually tried to tell me that only one side needs to be in wood and the other can just be anchored in drywall. That is entirely false and incredibly dangerous given how much torque these springs have. Instead of owning up to a terrible install that could have seriously hurt someone or smashed a car, he just made excuses and played dumb. I am having to pay a real professional to come fix this mess before the whole thing snaps. Look at the photos of their work and the screenshots of their texts. Do not hire these guys.

I was presented with undersized springs that were very expensive and then presented with larger springs for 1.5x the price of the small springs. J&J came out and replaced the springs in about 15 minutes. Springs were larger, door was balanced, and it was all done for much less with a better warranty. We're fortunate to have companies like J&J still around.
