A couple friends and I showed up, 2 of us are 21+ the other friend was driving us and we stood on the patio for 2 minutes, not drinking just sitting there talking. A bartender came out and asked for our id's and the one underage couldn't stand on the patio, so we get off the patio then another bartender comes out and calls the law on us and our friends because we were there. Absolutely HORRIBLE management. Ordered simple crown and gingers. They utilized the "guns" for the ginger ale. It tasted as though only the seltzer water was added with the ginger ale mix not blending. We took one sip and told them they were bad. The "manager" or whatever he was acted like we were total liars. We took one sip, not like we drank the entire drinks. They finally remade them with another mixer and they were fine. Ended up spending almost $100 even though we were treated like shit by the manager. His waitresses were amazing but he was pathetic. I worked in the small town of Carthage & went to lunch with a CoWorker. The Staff is super friendly. The outdooor seating is nice, especially after being in the office all day. (service is a little slower when you sit outside) The Owner is a great guy & makes himself seen at the restaurant. They have a great Lunch Menu that includes your drink. My fav was the chicken salad sandwich. The meat is tender & the flavor is awesome. (not drenched in mayo either) I always asked for light salt on my fries because the 1st time I went, the salt was overwhelming. My kids came & met me for lunch a couple of times. One son had the nachos & wasn't happy but that was the only time. Otherwise, the food is great & atmosphere laid back. Only negative: Floors are slippery when you walk in with wet shoes. We tried this place due to Yelp recommendations and glad we did! There aren't lots of options in Carthage, NC. We had two teenage boys so wanted variety and NOT fast food. Our food was served fast, but delicious. I went with the owner's recommendation and had a Ruben. The marbled rye was crispy toasted, not soggy like many will be. Meat was lean and generous with Russian dressing homemade. The Cuban was greasy but good. Pulled pork, so it's a NC version of a Cuban. If you want the real deal this isn't it. Pulled pork was a bit on the sweet side but had a spicy hot kick. Siracha sauce wings were good. The sides are huge! Very nice side salad. I'd recommend and we will return! read more

We saw a post on Yelp just minutes before we decided to try this place. I gave it 5 stars because it hit the mark on everything. There is plenty of parking and easy to find It was clean and ample seating. It didn't smell like stale beer. Good lighting and good tunes. The menu had a great selection especially since it's a bar. The food was great. Definitely try the potato skins. The Dixie q burger was cooked to perfection on a fresh bun and a huge portion. It also comes with a choice of interesting sides. You won't leave hungry. I ordered a mixed drink from the bar. It came in a huge beer glass and they only charged 5.50. What a bargain. Our waiter, Alex was great. Too bad it's his last day. We don't live any where near here but we will definitely be back when we drop our son off at camp. Best part.... Friday is Karaoke night! read more

Being an Eastern BBQ enthusiast, I asked for this sauce on the side, but was pleasantly surprised by its tang and spices. Not your usual thick red corn syrup ketchup sauce. Dining companion ordered the mac n cheese burger. Consists of 2 medium sized, clearly prepackaged frozen patties. In this case, less would have been more. It's just an overwhelming amount of unremarkable meat. Otherwise it was super cheesy with a nice dose of Sriracha. Potato salad and cole slaw sides are a bit underwhelming flavor-wise, (consisting mostly of mayonnaise and not much else) but probably the way most locals prefer it. read more

My niece and I and her two little boys went here for lunch last Wednesday. The food was great and the service was exceptional. Our server was very attentive but didn't hover. We never waited for refills and she was great about getting whatever we needed. Very friendly staff. I am moving a short distance away so this will be a favorite to go to for sure. read more

Date - 6 May 17. Time - Approximately 1500. Atmosphere - Jeff and Susie have created a friendly, sports bar atmosphere. Lots of wide screen TVs on the walls, stools, high tables and booths for those so inclined. I attribute this to the owners, both of whom were present in the dining area the time, welcoming those guests arriving. Decor - It's a sports bar, folks. Jeff and Suzie have done a great job - TV's, sports stuff, etc. on the wall. The decor is industrial, but, it is a sports bar. You don't come here to find nice plants everywhere. Speaking only for myself and my wife, we were very comfortable here. Service - we sat at the bar, and spoke with Chef Jeff extensively. He was warm, engaging, and a pleasure to speak with. The waitress whose name excapes me was great. Great food served by competent staff .... speaking of the food ... There is bar food, and then there is this. Corn relish ... it could be ordinary, but ... Chef Jeff smokes the corn, on premises. It makes the ordinary into the sublime, even on a simple tortilla chip. Five Pepper Burger - I ordered it medium rare. It was the first time in my life a burger arrived medium rare. Translation - it will be cooked how you want it, not a common trait in chain restaurants. And the burger itself ... lot's of heat, but not overly so. And the cole slaw side ... heaven. My wife ordered a roast beef sandwich ... She loved it. Okay. Let's start with their strengths. We had such a good waitress, she was nice, attentive, and really sweet. Also their fries and tater tots were tasty. The bad? Everything else. I had the cordon blue panini--ham,chicken,cheese,honey mustard. How do you make this have no flavor?! My friend had the fried green tomato BLT. Didn't have the chicken panini listed on the menu, server said it was only offered on a weekday, strike one; charge for the substituted steak and cheese sub (one side included, I chose baked beans), plus an extra mac and cheese side (listed on the menu as $3.00) was almost $27.00 and didn't even include plastic utensils or even a napkin for take out, strike two; food was just plane awful. My sister is a regular here, and she brought me by for a beer and dinner, and I was not disappointed. The food at Time Out is above and beyond what you would expect from a sports bar. The server and bartender were knowledgeable about the beers (some of which were local, and delicious) and the food was delicious. The owner even chatted with us a bit following the meal. This is definitely the best restaurant in the Carthage area! The wings are house smoked and freaking delicious. I have never been disappointed by anything I've gotten. They have great salads, sandwiches, burgers, etc. It is always hard to order something different because I become obsessed with every meal I get from here! Been there three times now, so figured time for a review. Tonight we had wings and the Time Out salad, and I would recommend both. The wings were very meaty and had a great taste. We went with the honey bbq I believe. The Timeout salad was also very good, but it was the guac/ranch dressing that really made it. Last time I had the Carolina burger, wick I think is the best burger in the area. Drinks were good, and very fairly priced. Wait stag was very attentative and fun. They did a nice job. The cook/ owner (I presume) came out to chat and make sure everything was good- it was. Finally, the live entertainment was excellent. They had a local girl in there singing tonight, and she was excellent (Lauren Fitz I believe was her name). Unlike most places that incorporate live music, the volume was perfect to where we could enjoy the music and still have a conversation. Well done on all accounts.
