This was one of those call-in to-go orders where the way the phone was answered should've told me everything I needed to know. Before the call even connected, the business name was rattled off with such an "I don't care" tone that my introverted side almost hung up immediately. But I didn't. I placed my order to go, and she asked if I wanted dressing. Confused about why I'd want dressing with tuna salad, I politely said no thank you. After a pause, she replied, "So... ranch?" Still confused, but defeated at that point, I just said, "Sure." She told me it would be about 15 minutes. Twenty minutes later, I walked in to pick up my order, only to hear the same employee blaming the kitchen and saying they "must not have received the order" and that it would be just a moment. Given the "I don't want to be here" attitude I'd already experienced, I wasn't exactly shocked that the order may not have been properly communicated. Thankfully, the kitchen staff got it together quickly once they realized the issue. The tuna salad was very pickle-heavy, and the chicken salad leaned a little too hard into the mayonnaise for my taste, so it wasn't my favorite meal ever. That said, the atmosphere itself was relaxed and comfortable, and I can absolutely see why locals enjoy the place. Maybe next time I'll try a different dish. At the end of the day, I'm just out here trying to support local businesses. It would be nice if the employees were just as enthusiastic about supporting those local businesses by being welcoming and attentive to the customers who choose to stop in. read more

This place is a nice place for lunch. They have a large variety of classic salads and sandwiches and is a good place for a quick business meeting because it's homely and not too loud. The service is also decently fast, usually you get your food within 10-15 minutes. I especially like their coaches choice for soup, the variety is always great. read more

Well at one point this was worth 5 stars but under the new management, this place needs some work. I went last week and ordered the fried pickles which are no longer the same beer battered spears that were so good. Now they are soggy chips. Then we ordered. The waitress put the order in and came back and said everything we ordered was out of stock. She suggested we order one of the specials. We ordered specials at her advice and after her putting the orders in she came back and said those were all out of stock. Like everything is out of stock and then you recommend we order something else that's out of stock. After finally getting some basic sandwich orders in we waited...and waited. And waited. After almost an hour we asked where the food was and they told us they thought our order was to go and they were waiting on us to pick it up even though we ordered it while sitting at a table. They brought us the food in the Styrofoam containers to eat at our tables that had been sitting indefinitely at the bar getting cold. After all this, they forgot an entire order from the group and that member just got up and left. The other orders were all messed up with the sides being incorrect or poorly cooked. They still made and brought the order out for the member of the group that left and boxed it to take home. Then they had the audacity to charge us for all the meals, including the one we didn't even want for the member that left. Just terrible customer service all around read more

We were over at Johnson's Peaches and needing lunch and thankfully Yelp steered us here. It's not too big inside, but it's comfy and welcoming. We were pleasantly surprised by all the choices on the menu and it took a bit to decide. I had the Reuben sandwich with onion rings. Both were delicious! The sandwich was more than filling and the onion rings were fried perfectly so when biting into them the whole onion slice didn't pull out all at once. It was a great meal, but also a bit greasy. My dining partner had chicken salad and fries and loved both! She was so impressed she keeps asking when we're going back! I do have one question, where's the lake?!! read more

This is a dive kind of place but the food is quite yummy. They have different specials every night. Their all you can eat cod fish is good and crunchy but light. Their cole slaw has gotten better since the first time we've eaten there. The wings are super yummy and nice sized! Fun little place for a quick bite. We eat here 2-3 times a month. We tried this place out for somewhere different and to enjoy the live music. I'm not sure what all the raving reviews are about. It seemed to be a locals place so if you weren't, you were an outsider. The wings had a good unique flavor - mango habenero- but the wings themself were very poor quality. Do not recommend them, nor spending the money on them (6 for $10.95!). Also we felt nickeled and dimed. My hubby go a chicken sandwich that came with cheese, he just switched it to pepperjack and we were charged a $1.00 extra to "add pepperjack." The waitress explained the side salad and it sounded great, however when delivered it was nothing like what she said. It was very small, had lots of cheese, fake bacon and tomatoes on it. On the sides menu the side salad was the same price as fries but again we were charged a $1.00 for the side salad. My patty melt had the incorrect cheese I asked for but I didn't mind having to wait for them to correct it, but then there was hardly any onions and the few on there were not grilled at all. I'd definitely go elsewhere and we do not plan to return. read more

Came in a a Sunday afternoon for late lunch. Not busy, very nice wait staff and chef. Several patrons who made suggestions as we talked and looked at the menu. Wife ordered their burger w/pimento cheese (minus jalapeños) and fried. I ordered their Prime rib sandwich with mushrooms and cheese and fries. Local said it was excellent she was right. Food arrived quickly, super hot and was positively excellent! The buns are toasted and stay firm not soggy! Easy to find off HWY 211, small sports bar type affair but good for the whole family. I've been here twice now as it's really close to my house and one of the only restaurants that's not fast food in a 15 mile radius. Disclaimer: for personal reasons I don't eat meat and am vegetarian. This has never really stopped me from eating anywhere because almost everywhere has something without meat in it whether it's a salad or soup. The first time I ever came here was in the afternoon with my little sisters in August, we looked at the menu and noticed practically everything including salads has meat in it. Since they make it in house I didn't see an issue asking them to leave the meat out of the BLT. I asked the waitress and she began to laugh at me saying she's "never heard of that before", and said she's not sure if it was possible. I told her if it was any trouble it's not a big deal and I can get salad and just take the chicken out. She then continued to tel the other employees who also giggled at it and told me she would ask the cook but not to be surprised if I hear laughing in the back because it was an "extreme request". Of course I felt really embarrassed and guilty for asking them to do this, even though I still payed full price in the end when they were able to take off bacon and ham. I ended up leaving feeling pretty bad and never wanting to return. 5 months later.... I came here with my family for a dinner and had a completely different waitress, I asked again if I could have the BLT without meat (despite my extreme fear of what happened last time happening again) and she was so nice! She even made suggestions on other things that could be made vegetarian like the chicken wrap. She never once made me feel guilty and the food came out in 10 minutes tasting great. Overall I'm glad I returned and my waitress had changed my mind about coming back here. It's nice when a restaurant offers a variety of menu options for different people. This is definitely one of my favorite places in the area and I will return again!!! read more

I was visiting friends in North Carolina and went here twice. Both times the food was great. (*One exception were the fried pickles. Ordered them the first time and they were BEYOND salty. I love salt but this was INSANE. On our second visit, I asked the waitress if she knew if they were always this salty or maybe it was just a one off. She said they used to make their own but now they bought them pre-made and packaged.) The place is really small and was packed both times. The staff was very nice and friendly. I went to the Lake House Wednesday night for dinner. The fish was delicious and the hospitality was perfect. The only issue I had was the price of wings. $16.95 for 12 wings was extremely pricey. Come'on guy's--- you can do much better than that! The wings did not taste nearly as good as in the past. Many were broken and brittle. Burgers are the best, 1/2 pound angus beef, and served with real handcut fries or onion rings. Chicken wings are good along with the several sandwiches offered on the menu. If ordering the quesadilla, get it with blacken chicken. They also have soups, salads and appetizers.
