I took my car last week to get new break pads. I took my car somewhere else first and they wanted double for what I paid Tim's. His son works there as well and was the one doing my breaks. I was told I needed stuff replaced, but he said everything looked good. I'm not from the area, so I had no idea where to go. I saw all the perfect ratings at Tim's so I decided to try it out. I'm so happy I went! They explain everything to you, they didn't treat me like I'm a stupid girl that doesn't know shit about vehicles. I will definitely be taking all of our cars there from now on. My nephew found Tim after car trouble and we're so glad he did. We've gone back a few times and every time it's less than we expect and well done. What an awesome place, a true family business. It's run by Tim and his sons work there and everyone is just a real straight shooter. Because they're so good, and very reasonably priced, they're quite busy and it's best you call ahead and get a date to drop it off, but that's not a knock against them, that's a good sign. Tim has been taking great care of my truck since I moved back to the Bend a year ago. As I said in my review of my go-to guy in Colorado, a mechanic you treats you fairly, charges you appropriately, and doesn't try to fuck you out of every last dime you possess is a veritable treasure. It's a shame the industry is replete with charlatans and snake oil salesmen who prey on the ignorance of their customers, sucking them dry like the soulless vampires they are- garages like this exist in South Bend just as they do everywhere else. Tim's is not one of these shops. The only downside is how busy they get, but this is a result of their ethical customer service, so one can't really complain if they can't get you on the lift right away. read more

Best shop in town. Honest, honest, and did I mention - honest. Does great work. Very reasonable prices. As the other review mentions, Tim's parking area is small, and he often has a backlog of several cars ahead of you - largely due to outstanding word of mouth. I'd rather leave my car overnight at Tims and wait a little to have it fixed right, without the parts & labor gouging I've run into nearly everywhere else. Tim is the real deal. read more

I have been going to Tim's for about five years. His prices are very good and his work is reliable and he is very honest. I once brought my car in for a gummed up radiator. I took it first to Tough Guys who specialize in automotive coolant, radiators, and AC. They said it look bad and the price could be $86 but it look bad enough that is may need 2 -3 flushes to get it clean and if it does it would be $86 x 3 = $258 because they with have to use 3 times the cleaner and take 3 times as long. I left contemplating it. They are good but I took into Tim's on a friends recommendation. Tim looked at it and said will be $82. I left it with him. He called much later in the day and said, "This is Tim, Your car is done but it was a mess. we had to flush it 3 times and remove the reservoir and soak it clean it and soak it a again to get the gunk all out. but is done and you can get it." So he said what the mechanic at Tough Guy told me. So I thought well let me go pick it up and see how much the bill went up. I get there and he shows me the bill and says, "That will be $82 dollars." I said with a confused look, but you told me it took you had to flush it 3 times? Tim replied, "I did but I told you $82 so I am charging you $82. If that doesn't tell you about Tim and his shop I don't know what does! I highly recommend this shop! Just don't expect excellent to be catered to like a VIP Tim's is not that kind of place... it is a no frills, gritty service shop when he stands behind what he says and is honest and work is done well and very reasonable prices cons: The only negative is his lot is small and narrow and usually full of cars and hard to get in and out, and sometime he is too busy. read more

Tim was unbelievable. I was heading out on a trip to South Carolina that day and he said he could squeeze me in to get me all fixed up and ready for the road trip. The kicker was, when I got in, he had just found out that his grandma had died, he was in rough shape and I could tell her was struggling. He ended up saying he still wanted to fix my car, so he got the parts and fixed it up quick then sent me on my way. The fix was great, timely, and effective. But, his customer service doesn't end there. The next morning he gave me a call to make sure I had made it to South Carolina and that my engine light was still off and everything was working appropriately! He is an amazing man and a great mechanic with TONS of experience. I will absolutely be returning. On top of that all, his prices were very reasonable. Not only is Tim great but his son Chris is just as awesome. I had a car issue and was afraid to drive it and be stranded; I called Tim's and he was out of town but his son had me come down to shop within the hour and did a diagnostic check on car; it was my alternator and Chris worked me in and even stayed past closing to fix my car so I wouldn't be without a car over the weekend! I've been going to Tim for years and they always have been fair, honest and prompt! Thanks Chris for going above and beyond for me! I am so grateful to have found Tim's Auto! Tim's Auto Repair is the best. I am from out of town and blew a tire near their shop. Unfortunately, I was not able to change the tire myself because the spare was under the car. I was overwhelmed and panicky and Tim was EXTREMELY helpful and reassured me everything would be fine. Even though he was very busy, he got my car in and got everything taken care FAST! My car was leaking oil, causing my car to smoke, and the engine was also starting to overheat. Before taking my car to Tim's, I took my car to Dave's Garage where they told me it would be a couple hundred dollars to fix the oil leak alone, because I had a cracked seal. Dave's told me the part was only about $25 but since it was so deep into the car, the labor would be the majority of that price they quoted me. I know little to nothing about cars so I went to Tim's to get a second opinion. Dave's Garage had overcharged me before and I had heard recently that Tim's was the best auto shop in town. I was told that Tim is honest and fair about his prices. After taking my car to Tim's, it was there for only about three hours before Tim called me himself to have me pick it up. On the phone, he told me that the fix was only $79, which was including labor. I had to ask him to say the price twice because I expected it to be at least $100 minimum. I am very happy with my decision to go to Tim's. His shop will now be my go-to place for all my car needs. read more

I have not met Tim or Ryan in person, but am highly impressed with their professional, expertise and willingness to go above and beyond. My 19-year daughter found herself stranded in South Bend when her car quit running. The car was towed to Tim's Auto repair over the weekend. By the time I called them on Monday, they had diagnosed it and had an estimate. The car was quickly repaired. Not only that, to insure my daughter had her again for the weekend, they drove and picked her up at a camp where she is working and she was on her way with a well running vehicle.
